i can deal with crap endings if the joy in the middle is there for me (Ex: Lost).  I hate sitting through a boring movie to have a cool ending.  I'll never watch it again.

I, on the other hand, have been wanting to get rid of my Season 1 DVD set for a few years, but I didn't want to get anyone into it. I figured that'd be cruel. It seems I made the right choice.

Probably should just burn it now.

It's definitely pretty worthless unless you were a big lostie.  there was a lady here at work that i got into lost and she rushed through the first 4 seasons and it's all she could talk about.  then the day after it ended i guess she heard about it and she was just done.  all interest was gone.

Only thing I can think of that follows that middle being amazing thing is bioshock, and I never want to play it again.
Most games for me tend to get boring as fuck towards the end (which is why I don't finish many) so I guess I don't mind.

eh I expected the ending to blow on PA.  I mean, there wasn't much they could do without it feeling like a completely different movie IMO.  Unless they kept the same pacing and made it a 3 hours movie.

This I don't get. No matter how much you hated the ending/all of S6, it doesnt all of a sudden negate S1, S3.5 and S4. Jouney >>> "lolz, we're dead" destination

so I get the new Clash of the Titans movie in from netflix and want to get to it.  First there were two ads for other movies you can't skip.  Then there was a trailer for the original Clash of the Titans.  Right now the video game trailer is playing.  COME ON! This movie will probably suck without making me angry before watching it.

aaand...NOPE, now a trailer with Zack Effron.  awesome.

now Batman under the red hood.  finally it is over.

I don't get it.  I can fast forward, but I can skip? let's hope the feature presentation redeems this shitty blu-ray.

yep.  i found the defrauding portions of the movie way more interesting and entertaining.  pacing slowed to a crawl and scares were cheap.  the demon barely spoke.  i was really hoping for more an "exorcist" experience where Reagan scared us by the awesome things she said "that would be much too vulgar a display of power" and you go hooooooooooooooooooooooly shit.  instead it devolved into a cheap scare tactics with a terrible, terrible ending.  the only thing i liked were a couple of obscure bible references, like Esther.  the research and potential for the movie was there but it fell completely flat on all fronts.  Imma watch the exorcist to dream that someday someone makes as awesome of an exorcism movie.

oh and the trailers...

that movie the virginity hit or whatever?  i'm officially old.  I thought "wow. that's definitely not marketed towards my generation and i cannot relate whatsoever"  i seriously felt old watching it and thinking "kids will eat this up but i couldn't care less"

oh and the trailer for Dont Be Afraid of the Dark looked actually AWESOME.  i've rarely seen people clap after a trailer but it was pretty well done and it got me hyped.  Not to mention seeing the name Guillermo del Toro.  <3  Granted he's only a producer and produced Splice but it looked fucking awesome.

Edit: OH SHIT!  HE'S CREDITED AS A SCREENWRITER FOR IT!  INTEREST X 1000000000000000000000000000000000 NOW!  FUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Universal Solider: Regeneration

surprisingly good. a lot of well executed action sequences without any kind of overt cheese. There's two really awesome sequences in a row near the end with Van Damme. First is a single take corridor gun fight and the second is a great scene where he takes out like a dozen dudes with only a knife.

i can forgive Van Damme for taking this project over Expendables. Hopefully he decides to jump into the pool with Stallone for round 2.

I just found out Van Damme is beloved by the french for his aphorisms.

Quote
••If you work with a jackhammer during an earthquake, stop, otherwise you are working for nothing.

••If you phone a psychic and she doesn't answer the phone before it rings, hang up.

••My wife is not my best sexual partner, but she's good with the housework.

••Obviously I've taken drugs.

••When I walk across my living room from my chimney to my window, it takes me 10 seconds, but for a bird it takes one second, and for oxygen zero seconds!

••I am fascinated by air. If you remove the air from the sky, all the birds would fall to the ground. And all the planes, too.

••Air is beautiful, yet you cannot see it. It's soft, yet you cannot touch it. Air is a little like my brain.

I've been watching some Sylvester Stallone movies recently after some friends and I were trying to think of action films from the 80s and 90s that he's done that continue to hold up to date.  Outside of First Blood, and arguably Rambo 2, we weren't able to come up with any.

Tango & Cash - I hadn't seen this one, and from the title card, I had the impression that this one might actually be good: Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone as rival cops, cracking the skulls of the criminal underground --how could this possibly be bad?  Well, for one, this is NOT a thinking man's action movie.  This is not the thinking man's anything.  In fact, if you think about the plot of this shit for any more than a single second, your head might twist off and fall to the floor.  The prison scenes, in particular, are hilariously nonsensical.  There is stuff ON FIRE in the prison corridors, and the guards just stand around ignoring the chaos.  Nonsense aside, there isn't much left to talk about BECAUSE THERE'S SO MUCH OF IT.  The action is poorly directed and poorly choreographed, and Russell and Stallone have zero chemistry with one another.

Demolition Man - I think this movie might have the absolute worst cast of supporting characters ever.  Rob Schneider, Sandra Bullock, Benjamin Bratt, that fat guy from Beetlejuice, and Denis Leary, whose dialogue is mostly a shitty rehash of his stand-up routine.  I found myself rooting for Wesley Snipes most of the time, hoping he'd pull Bullock aside and karate chop his hand through her forehead.  Sadly, it never happens.  Some of the action is actually pretty well directed --the opening in particular-- but the gaps between are far too long, and filled with far too much dreck.

Please, feel free to recommend some others.

Cliffhanger is the best 90's Stallone, actually, scratch that.  I meant to say Copland.

The Specialist is sorta okay in that its ridiculously overheated, with every actor in a scenery chewing competition (winner: Rod Stieger).  But to walk down that Stallonesome road means that you must be accepting of the many bumps and mediocrities along the way.

ps-never, ever, ever watch Rhinestone.

One of my friends swore up and down that Cliffhanger was AWFUL, and since I couldn't quite remember, I left it at that.  I'll put that one on the queue as well.  Shame neither of these are streaming.

Just watched Withnail & I (1987)

It was pretty great. About two out-of-work London actors in 1969 who are completely drunk and drugged out of their mind all the time. It's like Jeeves & Jeevesier. Eventually, things get so bad that they decide a weekend at their uncle's country estate is just what they need detox and clear their heads. Needless to say, this does not go as planned. Great lines, amazing characters and situations. If you like Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, you will love this movie. It feels like TVC 15: The Motion Picture.

Also, produced by George Harrison and a Handmade Film. Quoth Wikipedia: "Notable films from the studio include Monty Python's Life of Brian, Time Bandits, Withnail and I and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels."

If you like the three of those movies you've seen, you'll like the fourth one, too!

Does it count over the phone?  My wife and I drunk dialed a friend and she said we were drunks and I responded with "We are not drunks, we are multi-millionaires" though she just took it as drunk talk and didn't get the reference
