I'm all zombied out, especially now that I have my The Walking Dead show.

But I was on a zombie kick the other day and Blockbuster just sent me 28 days later and 28 weeks later.

I hated on it when it first came out because the best scene is without a doubt the opening scene and the rest of the movie just wasn't what I was expecting.  I never got past like 40 minutes into it (watching it on HBO or some shit and had to leave) but I felt it deserved a fair shake from me.  Plus, 28 Days Later wasn't exactly super fucking awesome after they run into the military fucks.  In fact, I hated that portion.

Watched Godfather I and II over the last couple days; I had seen them before but I needed to wash the stench of Jersey Shore off myself ( :-[)

I'm gonna watch III tonight. I've seen most of it, I've seen the ending etc but I've never watched it start to end

I do.  I get hyped up really easily.  And the beginning of 28 Weeks Later was exactly was the type of zombie movie I've been wanting (or Survival of the Dead but not super fucking distinguished mentally-challenged).  But it usually involves me going back later and appreciating it for more.  I still will say that the trailer for Monsters is super misleading.

that's how I am with video games and I wish I could do the same with movies, but I just tend to get more excited and try to find out more and more about it.  And not so oddly, my favorite movies are ones that I knew nothing about when I watched them.

I try to but it's so hard.  I'm willing to give almost anything a chance.  I'll watch any kind of movie and I've watched tons that I thought would be terrible that I ended up loving.  Just gotta learn not to listen to movie nerds who rave about the next best thing.

Transformers is what it is.  The 2nd movie is a bit boring in parts but it does what it sets out to do.  WATCH SHIT EXPLODE.  But yeah, the guys on GAF are unbearable.  Ugh.  If you don't like X Korean female you're an idiot with no taste.  Man, I like what I like.  Leave me alone.

I think what broke me with movie (or any art) snob was when a bunch of hipsters I knew kept saying how Dark Knight was the worst movie they had ever seen.

Really?

REALLY?

Have you only seen 4 movies in your whole life?
Worse are guys who hate things without seeing them.  A guy I knew from high school is always posting things on Facebook about how he's glad he hasn't seen *insert popular movie title* because it looks so terrible.  My response is and will always be "oh hey look at me, I'm so cool I hate popular things"

Okay, I hadn't seen 28 Days Later since around the time it came out and I never cared for the second half so I never watched it again.  But I guess back then I didn't realize how bad most zombie movies are and how great it is to have something new for the genre.  The opening scene is amazing.  A different origin is great instead of hearing of the same old shit.  And there is way more human to zombie screen time ratio in this movie than any zombie movie I've seen in ages.  Character develoopment galore.  Some really awesomely tense scenes too like when Hannah's dad gets infected.  Or even the tunnel scene where I remember being disappointed that there's not a fight.  WTF was wrong with me?  Awesomely tense moment.  Short bursts of excitement that actually leave you satisfied until the next.  It's the only zombie movie in forever where the ramp up action isn't the best part.  Now it's time for 28 Weeks Later.  Imma give it another kick.

Just finished watching Whatever Works. Been meaning to see it since I got into Curb. Between this and Vicky Christina Barcelona, I've had a really good first impression of Woody Allen. Whatever Works is the first movie I've seen in a while that not only resonated with me, but was really a joy to watch. What a fantastic work. Larry David's the man.

Watched this after Cohen's suggestion and really enjoyed it even thought I'm not a football fan, Michael Sheen was brilliant in it.

Fantastic film, Stephen Graham is fucking awesome! if he keeps rising in this side of the world I can see an Oscar in his future, the guy is a terrific actor.

As far as vampire flicks go, anyone ever watch Near Dark? I'm intrigued by its premise and setting.

I have no idea how it has aged, but I saw it in the theater and a couple times after on video. It's a very good vampire movie, which had a pretty original take at the time.

In contrast, The Lost Boys was pretty, and cool, but it wasn't a horror movie. Nothing, nothing at all scary happens in that movie. There's at least suspense and a sense of danger in Near Dark.

Casablanca
Just bought it on blu ray since I originally watched in on HD DVD when it came out.  Still my idea of a perfect movie.  The dialogue is still witty, sharp and written very tightly.  Editing is perfect.  There isn't a wasted scene.  The score is amazing.  The train platform scene is :omg  The recurring themes are reiterated perfectly without being heavy handed.  Perfect fucking movie. "I seem to remember them bumbling their way into Berlin in 1918." :rofl

In The Loop
I can't think of another comedy that had me engaged from start to finish since The Big Lebowski.  Amazing.  And it's not just "oh that's clever" writing, it's LOL funny writing.  Completely interesting, culturally relevant and hilarious.  So awesome.

28 Weeks Later
I enjoyed it quite a bit more now.  Still no 28 Days Later but once you drop your expectations and realize it's a different style of movie, it stands pretty well on its own.  They should go ahead and make 28 Months Later and give it back to Boyle.

Tombstone
Man I forgot how awesome this movie was.  I'm your huckleberry.  Pure badassery is all that comes to mind.  Oh and Bill Paxton LOL

THE WOLVERINE

Quote
Director Darren Aronofsky revealed the title on Saturday for the new Wolverine movie starring Hugh Jackman. The movie, to be titled The Wolverine, will not be a sequel to the Gavin Hood-directed X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Aronofsky told HitFix that The Wolverine will be a "one-off," or standalone project. The script, written by Christopher McQuarrie, involves Logan beginning a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won't take "no" for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers.  Opium addiction and Howard the Duck tie-in expected.

A release date has not been set yet for the film.

Yes a snarky story on a movie site is what the movie really is. It's based on the Wolverine Japan storyline. Jackman wanted to do this one as the first Wolverine movie, but Fox forced them to do an origin movie.

..And if it takes place in Japan, it's a sequel to the shitty Origins movie anyway.   :lol

That Wolverine limited series with him meting Mariko and taking down her father was a perfect story.  They should stick close to that instead of changing it up...haven't read it in a long time, but IIRC it has virtually nothing to do with the X-Men and is entirely a standalone story, with plenty of violence.  Would make for a great R-rated flick.  Oh well.

This movie is going to be the best comedy film released in 2011. Everything I read about it casting wise and story wise is just plain fantastic. There hasn't been a good Muppet film since Manhattan and that was over 25 years ago. Very hopeful about this movie.
