I've never seen the original Aladdin. I've only seen the direct-to-video sequel, Aladdin and The King of Thieves.

Well now you know what you should do right now

In fact, NOTHING is. There's animation section is REALLY bad.

Netflix wants to make instant standard but a lot of their selection is questionable at best.

Saw Tangled this afternoon.

Decent, not great. Not as good as a Pixar movie, but avoided most of the Dreamworks pitfalls. Mostly.

I'm about half way through Watchmen. I've been watching some extended cut that's like three hours or something. It's better than I thought it would be honestly as I thought it would attempt to action flick it up and it hasn't although I simply don't think that work lends itself very well to the medium of film without a lot of major changes.

I may finish it up this weekend at some point.

I watched Beetlejuice a lot on Saturday mornings, but the only episode I can really remember is one where this one really rich guy was sad, and he kept blowing his nose on hundred dollar bills and Lydia wanted to cheer him up, but Beetlejuice wanted him to stay sad so they could keep collecting all the snotty money.

I can't remember a single ep and I watched it every Saturday and just about everyday when it was later on Nick. Same goes for Ninja Turtles (though I remember all of season 1), He-man, Inspector Gadget, Muppet Babies, Pee Wee;etc.

Remember the Back to the Future and Bill and Ted cartoons? :lol

Uwe Boll will melt your face off with IN THE NAME OF THE KING 2
Quote
"It's like contemporary, right now big city, and we have Dolph Lundgren basically being a cop or like a fighting coordinator working as this, and one night he gets attacked by ninjas in his house and fell with the ninjas into a vortex back in time. And then it turns out it's like 50 years after the first part In the Name of the King ended, and Ehb is destroyed and everybody is dead, Jason Statham and everybody who was in the first part, got wiped out. They say he was basically sent into the future, he's the son of Jason Statham, and he was sent into the future, brought up in an orphanage, because the parents felt that they would all die. So he is basically the last survivor of the kingdom of Ehb so he should bring the kingdom back in charge."

Predators

meh. Starts out sooo bad but gets better as the action ramps up. Still, it never overcomes the weak cast. How can you do a Predator/elite team movie without any premier badasses? I'm not saying it needed an Expendables quality group but come the fuck on.

I liked how they explained some of the Predatory mythology, especially about how they basically watch the game film of each failure and fix every weakness, like the mud against Dutch. And things got uber interesting when

Fishburne, who I totally forgot was in the movie, showed up. Then he dies such a generic death (oh look, he's trying to kill them for their gear  ::)).

Netflix sent me The Sorcerers Apprentice in the mail yesterday.  Decent movie for a Disney flick.  Cage was a decent actor in this one.  But Jerry Bruckheimer has to quit smoking dope, watching obscure bits of Disney history, and then trying to make a blockbuster out of them.  He did well with PotC, and he should have stopped with that.

The ending of this movie was soaked in, "Sequel?  if you liked it?"   :lol

Saw this last night.  Great movie with some editing problems IMO.  There is a lot of wasted screen time that didn't really factor in to any meaningful character development.  Still a damn good movie.

Assault Girls

I love Mamoru Oshii. He's made some of my absolute all-time favorite movies. Having said that, he really, really sucks at live-action. It's not something that I can really understand properly, but that's the case. It's almost like animation Oshii and live-action Oshii are two different people. What makes his animated movies so great are completely absent from his live-action efforts. They invariably end up being clunky, inscrutable, visually bland, and dull, all opposites to how his animated movies are. I just don't get it. But Assault Girls...man, I just don't know what's going on here at all. It's really short [70 minutes] so you can't really expect a whole lot, and I didn't, but I was still shocked. There's no plot, the characters are as thin as they possibly can be, and, worst of all, there are only two short action scenes. You would think, going in, that this is probably just one long action scene, which would actually be decent, since the action isn't half-bad. But there's an intro that lasts nearly five minutes and a section in the middle with no dialog and no action [just the four characters wandering aimlessly] for nearly 25 minutes, more than a third of the total runtime!! Add in three Japanese actors speaking horrible-written dialog in English and Rinko Kikushi acting like a mentally-distinguished mentally-challenged mute and you've got a movie. I guess. It feels like a first-time director pulled out an old student film and padded it out a bit. Mamoru Oshii, why do you keep doing live-action?

I had to read that like three times to figure out wtf he was talking about.  :S

Then my face melted off.

If I'm reading this right, Dolph Lundgren is a cop in the present, but really he was born in the past and sent to the present to protect him but he gets sucked into a vortex by ninjas. It sounds like something I would have written as a 10 year old after watching a back-to-back marathon of Terminator, Willow, and American Ninja on TBS.

It also goes along with the end of the second film [Batman being disgraced in the public eye/becoming a wanted fugitive].

Oh, and this rumor is at least two weeks old, but I saw an article from as far back as late October that mentions it as a possibility.

It's amazing the things you think you've forgotten but are reminded of with the tiniest of visuals.

Masterpiece.

The entire section where she turns into Catwoman is probably top 5 best movie scenes ever. The part where she just like, slams all of her stuff animals in the garbage disposal, precedes to stab the ever living shit out of them and them turns the disposal on was my highlight of last night.

Told you!  Awesome movie

Contact
Since this came out I'd wanted to see it and I've always heard it was boring.  But fuck, I loved this movie!  Damn entertaining all the way through.  And I like my alien movies two ways; straight up action or an analysis of human interaction.  I don't really care to mix the two because when you do it pretty much makes one or the other weaker and just a shit movie in general.  The divide between science and religion was awesome in this movie.  There were some weak characters to drive the point (Matthew McCan'tspellhislastname's character).  Up until the end he was pretty shallow and his actions made little to no sense.  His only purpose seemed to be some sort of ending bridge between science and religion that was done pretty ::) at the end.  Anyways, making a pure scientific/political thriller out of an alien movie with little to no violence (outside of the terrorist attack, none) and keep it somewhat grounded in reality and in the realm of possibility and staying completely interesting is amazing IMO.  I really loved it.  I guess I need to read Carl Sagan's book on it.

They're actually basing it on the Prey storyline.

Yeah, that was my point:

Quote
If you are not familiar with PREY, it’s set in the “Year One-ish” timeframe of The Batman’s career. In a nutshell, the mayor of Gotham creates a police task force to bring down the vigilante known as “The Batman.” Psychiatrist Dr. Hugo Strange -- who is obsessed with Batman -- will assist by finding Batman’s true identity. Members of this “Get The Batman!” task force include Jim Gordon, who is secretly sabotaging the operation, and Sgt. Max Cort, a loose-cannon of a cop who hates crime and Batman. Strange and Cort end up joining forces with Cort becoming the murderous vigilante known as “Night Scourge,” In short, these two do everything they can to completely bring down and ruin The Dark Knight.

Although, as I said, it's a two week old rumor and it's not been reported anywhere except as being a rumor.
