Chernobyl Diaries

It's all over the place. There are hints of some cool STALKER (game) influences all throughout and I feel the actual content of the movie wasn't bad. It's the directing and acting that sucked. If the scenes were better framed and shot, you could see how this would be a pretty cool horror movie. However it's shot in a hand-held style and is just not very effective.

So they went to one of the creepiest places in the world to shoot their horror movie and then they shot it in a HAND-HELD style?  :dizzy

honestly what other film that came out between 2000-2010 was actually good.

List 'em out asswipes

Sunshine is the #1

Speed Racer is incredible...

No other good things came out

easily one of the best decades for film, ever.

lol I was drunk when I typed that but I honestly cant think of many films that came out last decade that I would consider classic. Shaolin Soccer was very good

Not a big movie watcher, but I thought Children of Men and The Departed were both great.

The Aughts had 7 Coen Brothers movies, so they couldn't have been all bad.

What's actually worse is that the movie looks super clean and sterile and makes the fact that they aren't actually in Pripyat all the more noticeable. Terrible green screening.

Yes that scene is cool, the movie is not.

He should have made a trippy movie like that with sound only, not pretend to make a full motion picture.

If you ever want to cure any lingering interest you might have in "found footage" movies, V/H/S will do it. It's shitty on every single level, from the terrible writing and pacing to the terrible acting to the $1 store special effects. I know it's getting close to Halloween, and you might want to rent it on Vudu or wherever hoping for some cheap creep, but stay the fuck away. It's like every creator involved (every segment is by a different "team") got together at Denny's after drinking all night and decided to write/cast/film the movie before sunrise.

If I owned this movie on a real VHS tape, I'd record over it.

I thought so too. I also kind of liked the generic slasher one too (3rd one I believe). The effect on the killer I thought was well done and kinda creepy. I thought the effects on the Haunted House one were pretty decent too.

She has the eyes of a ten year old boy PD.

I watched The Dictator. I was basically unengaged for the first 10 mins or so, but started to accept its being for what it was, it got better and peaked with the milking scene. I'd give the milking scene 10/10, and the rest maybe a 5/10.

Agreed.  But I didn't get past the birth scene.  I turned it off out of boredom because it pretty much made me realize that the movie was not for me.

Detention was basically funnier.

I didn't think much of The Innkeepers, the girl was annoyingly affected in her acting capabilities, and Kelly McGillis (old woman lol !) acted the shit out of her. The guy reminded me of the Community guy, but lacking a few vital chromosomes.

The title sequence and music was excellent though, as was the old guy in the basement shot.

But more memorable was the first trailer played before the movie. Tyler Perry is going to be an action star now.

I watched Boogie Nights again a few months ago (hadn't seen it since it's release), and I think it's even better now. It's fearless and the casting is top notch. Even though the subject matter is a bit base and there isn't really any great insight .. I think the movie should be considered one of he best of it's decade.

Warner even let Affleck start Argo with this:

There will probably be an extended version like The Town. It's exactly two hours, but there were scenes filmed where they're working on the script with Jack Kirby, and those weren't in the movie.

Boogie Nights is the only PDA movie I like. Magnolia, PDL, TWBB all felt too full of themselves. It's like PTA thought he was the greatest director of all time after Boogie Nights received so much praise.
