Let's talk about this instead:

A court martial sends a veteran soldier to a distant planet, where he has to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveler causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself.

Only thing really disappointing about that that Trek trailer is that it's focused on Earth.  Mass Effect 3 had this problem too.  You create a universe that spans across...the universe.  Forget Earth.  Making it the New York of the universe and shit.

Ultimately trailers don't mean much.  Or it is a teaser? whatever.

I was checking Netflix Instant today and I saw that they'd added a bunch of Disney movies. :omg

-The Rescuers Down Under
-James and the Giant Peach
-Alice in Wonderland [animated version, natch]
-The Fox and the Hound
-The Muppet Movie [from 1979]
-The Nightmare Before Christmas
-The Tigger Movie
-Dumbo
-The Great Mouse Detective
-The Thief and the Cobbler

I know what I'll be watching this weekend.  :-*

Also that trailer is the most I've ever seen of Star Trek, I might have to rectify that.

Compare that trailer to this:

Yeah, that trailer had shots in, you know, space.  Where stars are.

I agree she was a big problem for me in QoS and I'm sure she'll be more of the same in this movie.

But damn if it doesn't have a beautiful look/feel to it. That director sure does know how to create some very nice visuals. Loved that shit in Legacy and I think it shines through even more with the stark contrast of old earth.

Funny I didn't even know a damn thing about this movie this morning and now I'm all super hyped for it.

PS teaser trailer for Elysium is gonna be out before Xmas.

The most recent RE has one of the best opening action sequences to watch juiced.

TDKR is actually a deeply shit film, it's almost as if Nolan spunked away a creative load on Inception, because TDKN feels like a lazy, disinterested handjob.

Nice. I'm keen on seeing that.

2013 is shaping up to be a pretty good year for science-fiction:

-Oblivion
-Star Trek Into Darkness
-After Earth [Shyamalan lol]
-The Purge
-Pacific Rim
-Elysium
-Ender's Game
-The Host [I'm only listing this because it's written/directed by Andrew Niccol]

The tech looks like Portal/Aperture 'bots, but I mean it as a compliment.

The "court martialed soldier" angle doesn't seem to be present in the trailer.

Also, let's talk about THIS:

Could be a lot of fun; I am never a fan of "zombies being cured," but it does look like a good romp.

Are they trying to do accents? Because they're bad.

Ask Garry Whitta if it was him or M. Night Shyamalan that decided on the accents.

It almost seems like they're doing a good job of a speculative future english language accent - except the movie doesn't seem like it's good enough to accomplish that so it's just a bad accent.

I think I get what they're trying to do, a composite "all countries" accent, because there's no more EARF, but it's jarring and dumb. Also, I have never heard a Southern accent like that in all my life. The weirdest accents in NC are from the Outer Banks, where they say things like "ite" for "out," "yord" for "yard," shit like that.

Yeah, I guess Hurt Locker is what launched him into near-A-list, but I haven't seen it yet.

My only problem with it is that it can show off how shitty WETA's composting can be (think TTT Treebeard/Merry/Pippen), and it's more noticeable especially in the goblin city, but it made the rest of the effects look much better. The three trolls and one of the effects in Dol Guldur look amazing, and the Eagles flying over the mountains was jaw dropping. But I was sort of used to 48fps due to riding Star Tours 2 so much, so it didn't take much adjusting.

I have tickets for the normal version, more cinematic anyway, have fun with your soap opera.

It doesn't look anything like a soap opera. Anyone who says that hasn't seen it.
