Argo is pretty damn good aside from forced tension in the climax and a bit of historical negligence.  Really well made though.  It's my favorite from him.  The writing in particular is extremely sharp IMO.

Argo was my least favorite from him. I know I'm going against the consensus here. Thought some of the writing was trying too hard. It also felt pretty bloodless, compared to something like Gone Baby Gone which, despite some pacing issues, leaves the viewer pretty brutalized at the end. The Town featured some great action and Jeremy Renner is better at playing a psychopath than a hero, plus Jon Hamm and Blake Lively mmm.

The ending definitely didn't have the impact of The Town or GBG but I thought the writing was fantastic.  Especially the first scene with Ben Affleck where they discuss the mission.  It laid out the plot and obstacles perfectly.

1. If he's gonna recast one of his previous leading men he should've gone to Ewan McGregor for Gatsby

2. The whole tone of the movie doesn't feel like a creative take on the material, it just feels off.

3. That music :yuck :yuck :yuck

4. I don't totally hate McGuire but he's definitely got his dumb face on here

5. Carey Mulligan :heart :heart :heart

I cannot think of an excuse.  After the first 20 minutes I didn't think I'd make it through the entire film, but by the end I was really moved.  I've watched it countless times since then.  It is a classic imo.  I would gladly JO Baz Luhrmann if I had the chance, but no gay stuff.

Kurylenko again  :-\

then again... Malick's movie tend to focus less on acting and more on the visuals pushing the plot forward. So maybe she won't drag the entire thing down.

you mean Malick films are art demos, barely distinguishable in aim from Cameron's tech demo Avatar? Visuals and shots more important than actually making a competent film?

I really liked Expendables 2, but watch Dredd. It's a really fun movie. Lots of great action, good scifi look, amazing soundtrack, and doesn't skimp on the violence.

This is 40

There are some great moments, but Apatow has no idea what kind of movie he wants to make anymore. It does a nice job addressing the realities of adult life at times, but the fact that they completely ignore the family's financial problems and blow them off at the end drove me nuts.
