suns her vagina to ward off cancer
go out into the woods nude for days foraging off the land
She also doesn't shower.

I honestly know used to know a couple of girls like that. I have no idea what inspires them to do shit like this, they don't even read anything online or in the real world. The fact that i wasn't interested in that shit and came off as if i looked down on it, which i do, was also worrying for my most recent ex.  I have been called shallow for caring about how others see me in public.

I really work hard to keep artists separate from the art they create, and whether or not I enjoy it. Vagina-suntanning is pretty low on the list of possible offenses.

Question do you have to get the sun right in the vagina to ward off cancer or do you just apply it around the outside?

It's absolutely a chick flick. Probably even a teen-age chick flick if you want to be accurate about it.

lol

I mean chick flick in that I probably wouldn't roll into the barbershop and say yo everybody in her go check out that The Fault in our Our Stars son!

I mean the demographics of the people who go see the film is probably largely a female audience. But that doesn't really matter. I think its good enough that its for anybody who likes good and entertaining films. Chick flick, Super-hero film, etc are just kind of shorthand. Good films go beyond just the narrow container word for their marketing genre.

Yeah i know what you mean  ;) , I just don't like this macho dismissive attitude and labeling towards such movies, it's a bit sexist too to be honest.

''Defining a film a chick-flick is, as the New York Times has stated, more of a parlor game than a science.[5] These films are generally held in popular culture as having formulaic, paint-by-numbers plot lines and characters. This makes usage of the term "problematic" for implying "frivolity, artlessness, and utter commercialism", according to ReelzChannel.'' -wiki

Not saying that anyone here is being that way, just pointing out why i am butthurt about it. :P

It's not actually based on Orson Scott Card's Seventh Son [or The Witcher, somehow], but this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spook%27s_Apprentice
It's also unfortunately not based on an Iron Maiden album cover.

watched thor 2.  shit was pretty bad except for a few parts.  and i even liked the first movie.  it's like they doubled down on the boring parts of the first one at the expense of the stuff that actually worked.

I watched it on the flight to Tokyo this past April. Fell asleep twice.

The first one took me three tries to get through, finally managed it on a plane when I had nothing better to do. Still felt like a waste. I really like Tom Hiddleston, I'm thankful that Hollywood makes comic movies now, and I'll sit through a chick flick just to watch Natalie Portman. Despite all this, Thor is a total waste. It's the worst of the Marvel movies, but I can only say that having not seen the sequel.

I saw The Hundred Foot Journey the other day with my gf... was a pretty entertaining movie, although the pacing is kinda weird - plot elements appear and suddenly are dropped, lots of predictability with what happens... but still it was charming with some beautiful landscapes and some great food porn.

Finally saw Dark Knight Rises

Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman were great, of course.
Anne Hathaway made a pretty good Selina Kyle.
Bruce Wayne/Batman were pretty terrible in this. Everything he said just seemed really out of character to me. The voice rasp was at it's worse in this movie too.

But the worst of all was Bane's voice. He sounded like a comical stereotype of a German grandfather. "Oh Batman, you haff stolen zee cookies? Zat vas very naughty of you". I just could not take him seriously at all, and it made it difficult to take any of the movie seriously.

Anatomy of a Murder; good.  Pretty un-pc.  "Its impossible to tell if a married woman has been raped or not" :lol  I also like the fact that no one gives a shit about her being a rape victim and just hits on her even in the context of talking about the rape.

In 2012, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[5]

“It’s very difficult to describe my participation in that movie.  First of all, he gave me a monologue of nine pages, that was just talking about the micro and macro world of everything.  But I have never experienced such a sensation or feeling of absolute freedom, not because of what I did, but because of the way that he was directing.  It was extraordinary.  To tell you the truth, I didn’t even know if I was going to make it to the screen, but that’s the way that it goes, you know?  I remember when I got to the set in the morning, he called me and said, “Antonio, I’m sorry I didn’t send you the script.  You know why I didn’t send you the script?”  I said, “No.”  He said, “Well, there is no script. We are just working as we go.  I am creating the movie as I go.  I have a central character and I have certain ideas, and I put him in different situations of life.  The guy just tries to be a sponge and suck up everything he sees because he’s an artist.

So, I’m shooting a lot of things, and I don’t know what I’m gonna edit because I have a movie where, if I put together the whole entire thing, it might be as long as a week.  But, I invite you to play.  Feel free.  You have this monologue.  You can start the monologue in the middle, if you want.  I’m going to shoot it in different locations, in this party that we have over here.  We’re gonna shoot it in the pool, in the hall, in this dancing scene, in the garden.  So, you just relax and enjoy acting.  If you even have any idea, please just throw it out.  I’m going to be sending you what I call torpedoes.”

And I said, “What is that?”  He said, “People will interrupt you while you are talking, and they may just do actions to you.  There may be a very young girl, it may be an old lady, it may be a group of people.  You may know them or not know them.  Just improvise with them.  That’s what’s gonna happen.”  So, in the middle of the monologue, someone would come and do something to me, I’d react.  So it was really an exercise of freedom that I have never experienced before.  I don’t know the result of it.  The other day, they sent me some pictures for my approval, and I didn’t even remember.  I looked at the pictures and thought, “Oh, yeah, I remember that.  I shot that.  But I don’t remember this.  What was that?”  It was so intense.  It was 12-14 hours of absolute madness and, at the same time, of incredible findings.  So, I don’t know.  I have no idea what is going to come out of that participation.

I think I am in the movie because somebody called me about the use of my name, and if they used my name, it’s because I am there.  But it was a pleasure to work with a man that I admire from a long, long time ago, that actually took the Palm d’Or in the Festival of Cannes when I was competing also, with Pedro Almodóvar.  And the movie Tree of Life is one of my favorite movies of the last ten years, so he’s a man that I admire enormously, and just to have the possibility to spend one day with him was enough for me.’”

That's a great interview, and it sounds inspiring, but I somehow don't picture Banderas as being one of the premier improvisational talents of our time.

Looks like I, Robot.

Which I'm not complaining about, because the other I, Robot movie was kinda mediocre and not good, but this one actually looks like something worth being excited for.

I am remembering that the I, Robot film was more directly based on a different author's work than Asimov's, but this section doesn't offer the single example that I'm remembering:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I,_Robot_(film)#Similarities_with_the_book

It's not that R.U.R. thing though, I've never heard of that before, but that's a bit eerie.

watched an amazing UK Noir film called Never Let Go which is about an make up salesman who goes against a petty crime boss (played by PETER SELLERS!). GREAT ending, great atmosphere.  The score is a bit heavy handed at times, but it's very nice, very jazzy.  Peter Sellers is so ridiculously good in this.

Great acting and voice acting, but silly movie, the big twist is that the ending sucks and you feel cheated.

Under the Skin

Its got Scarlet boobies and ass, but you get those in the first few min. If you keep looking you get a movie thats super drab and depressing with no real plot. If you've been to Glasgow you will know that this is how Glasgow actually feels.

Goes on way too long. Will leave you bored and depressed. I guess it evokes feels, but because its too long most of them are "when is it over?".

Cap 2 was pretty good in comparison to Thor 2 and IM2. Just about 20 minutes too long. It was helped also by its
release  date (Early March), just a wasteland of movies during that time.

Yeah I couldn't stand Thor 2 and I tried watching it on a 15 hour flight where I didn't sleep more than 10 minutes. I just forget the plot of all these movies 10 minutes after I finish it and they struggle to hold my attention at all. They just all feel the same.

Alien Abduction - I've got to stop interpreting "not horrible" as an indicator of a positive review when it comes to low budget found footage horror films.  This one is The Blair Witch with aliens.  One neat sequence (the family of campers finds a long tunnel full of seemingly abandoned cars) but the rest of it is pretty bad.  Alas.

Turbo

Damn this snail is fast. Feel good kids movie.

Read the book summary for Under The Skin. Explains a lot of the backstory the movie forgoes.

Wow that does help a lot, thanks. Wish the movie went just a bit more into this, could have made it very good.

Gonna be hard to cram decades of turmoil into 2 hours, but I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of it
