Unlike what TFA heralded though, I really hope this is the last one for a while.

Final shot is Pinhead pulling Michael's mask down to Hell.

:gladbron

If that's the case, strap yourself in for a decade of development hell. :lol :lol

True fans will wait as long as it takes for RaiserWeen

Why the heck would you not make it Halloraiser?

I just rewatched Children of Men and I think I'm traumatized. Cried during the climax. What a gut wrenching movie.
The car scene is so good.

It's a trash movie for trash people who miss the point much like Scarface, except Scarface can be enjoyed in a lol80s way that Taxi Driver can't

Even if this is what you think, I don’t think it’s fair to call the movie trash. It’s amazingly shot and edited and has one of Bernard Herrmann’s best scores. It’s got some fantastic performances, especially from Keitel and De Niro. De Niro’s performance is so great that he makes you empathize with a piece of trash character. Or feel sympathy for.

This and The King of Comedy are probably my favorite De Niro roles.

Outside of Casino, I don't really care for Scorsese and his cokehead editor, unlikable characters, and course language :jeanluc

Understandable. It’s like 3 hours long, too.

Perhaps we should avoid the topic of Scorsese.

King of Comedy is a little too cringey for me, personally, but After Hours is also legitimately great and The Color of Money has a surprising amount of craft behind it. I love going back to those every couple of years.

Jupiter Ascending by the Wachowski siblings is finally on Japanese Netflix.

What the fuck was everyone thinking when they made this? How can two people that suffered from gender dysphoria make a movie about genetic inheritance being a valid conceit, a defensible claim to power? Why did Magic Mike think manscara and elf ears would work? Why did Sean Bean agree to this?  :doge :doge :-*  :dizzy

I could never get into After Hours even though it sounds like my kinda thing on paper. I found it to be largely mediocre.

I like After Hours, but for a comedy, it kind of feels... mechanical? Like the funny scenarios in the movie aren’t executed in a particularly funny way, but they probably sound humorous on the page. It feels like an execution problem.

Was bored and wanted some popcorn fun:

15min into Avengers infinity war turned it off

tried Solo and turned it off within 10min.

How you menchildren continue to watch this garbage i don't know. Avengers is especially lacking in mental fortitude. Do none of you notice that these actors are bored to death of playing superheros? At this point they are pretty much collecting a massive check while shootin the shit with each other.

So then i decided to watch Prayer before Dawn seeing how it got great reviews from various places. Nope, complete crap. Just a bunch of thailandese dudes screaming and some white irish guy joining them.

It's hard to see a good movie these days.

Nicolas Winding Refn is offering free streaming for obscure old B movies he acquired the rights to on his website :

The layout is a bit esoteric (films are under "chapters"). I can recommend Night Tide with Dennis Hopper.

This site has the worst design I’ve seen in a long time. Not surprising that a Refn website would prize hollow visual flourish over coherency. I’ve looked through all three chapters of volume 1 and I don’t see that movie. Can you link it?

I watched like 20 mins of it. I can tell already that I'll like it more than TLJ.

But I get what Jay was talking about, the movie is just so fucking dark.
I thought my stream was fucked up, it was dark right? Most of the fucking film is in fucking shadow or silhouette. Somehow even in the last scenes that take place in a desert they manage to find the darkest set pieces to make everything look shaded.

Most of the best of these erotic thrillers I’m lovin’ are pretty blatant Hitchcock rips. I know the Hitch films are better, and I enjoy them more when I watch them, they lack the primal hook of guaranteed nudity and sex scenes. Imagine if those films were made today. We’d have titties and potential bush from Grace Kelly, Kim Novack, Eva Marie Saint, Tallulah Bankhead, Janet Leigh, and more. The women were more attractive back then. That’s why so many dudes are going gay and trans these days.

I bet Jimmy Stewart or Farley Granger or James Mason would be willing to hang dong and balls too. Especially Jimmy Stewart.

When Gus Van Sant remade Psycho, he should've remade it with the premise that Hitchcock was a closet pervert who was unable to fully express himself back in the day. Then reshoot the film from that perspective.

THESE SABOTEURS OF SNYDERS VISION

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/henry-cavill-as-superman-warner-bros-dc-universe-shake-up-1142306

Quote
Henry Cavill, who has played Superman in three films, is parting ways with Warner Bros., sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
Quote
But contract talks between Cavill's WME reps and Warners broke down, and the door is now closing on other potential Superman appearances.

That's because the studio has shifted its focus to a Supergirl movie, which will be an origin story featuring a teen superheroine. This effectively removes an actor of Cavill's age from the storyline's equation given that Superman, aka Kal-El, would be an infant, according to DC lore.

Furthermore, Warners isn't likely to make a solo Superman film for at least several years, according to another source. "Superman is like James Bond, and after a certain run you have to look at new actors," says a studio source. As such, Cavill will join Ben Affleck, who isn't expected to reprise his role for director Matt Reeves' forthcoming Batman stand-alone film, as a hero on the way out.

The movie deals with white guilt. I always saw the main character as, well maybe not the villain of the story, but not as the protagonist either.

Upper class white woman that wants to stick her nose in to a community that doesn't want her in the hopes of "sharing the myth with the world".

Its like Get Out in the way that the bad white people aren't beer swiggin' rednecks. They're Liberal elites that take on causes to help with their white guilt, not to actually help people in need.

Also has the best theme for a movie ever.

It also touches on other themes, like gentrification and what we today might call cultural appropriation. I’m not sure there was a word for it back then. The main character is effectively using the embattled black community’s misery and urban legends to advance her own, very white, academic career that will offer nothing to society. There’s also something in there about the failure of urban projects—I assume the Pruitt Egoe sequence is Koyaanisqatsi is why Philip Glass was given the soundtrack gig

I know you guys dislike Clive, so just so you know, none of the racial or urban themes come from him and they”re the best part of the story.
