November 5, 2008 - Early access to the Left 4 Dead demo begins Thursday, November 6 on both the PC and Xbox 360. The early demo access is scheduled to begin around 2 am PST on the Xbox 360 and 7 am PST on the PC.

This promotion is being offered in addition to the 10% savings for those who pre-order and applies to all Steam PC pre-orders and all PC and Xbox 360 pre-orders from GameStop and EB Games in North America.

On November 11 the demo will be made available to all PC and Xbox 360 gamers worldwide, with no obligation to purchase. The demo concludes on November 18, when Left 4 Dead will be made available at retail outlets across North America and worldwide via Steam.

Don't put in an activation code. It should still work even though they're already sending the codes out. It worked for me. I got two 360 codes and one PC code, however I'm using one of the 360 codes and I gave the others to my brother.

yeah, but in 24 hours I would have already gone to gamestop and unless there is a virtual magazine stand to knock over, the internet will never simulate the feeling of getting declined a beta code.

i played single player, uh the online stuff is having problems
its quite awesome, and the ai director DOES mix things up alot

my first try I was doing well until I heard crying
what you should never do, under any fucking circumstances, is mess with a witch, EVER. She will FUCK YOU UP.
other then that normal is pretty easy, gonna need to try the other difficultys but on normal zombies go down really easy and boomers take one shot, hunters maybe two.

boomers can suck, if they hit you with puke its like "oh shit, oh shit!" and you are mashing the push back button to smack zombies.
Smokers are tricky, I was walking along and bill was straggling and he got pulled away without notice for a few seconds then we caught on and shot it up
hunters are probably the most frequent, they usually miss with their leap but it sucks when they do get you
AGAIN DONT FUCK WITH WITCHES

so after I died from the witch I noticed the spot we were previously had different weapons, the auto shotgun <3 and the hunting rifle, assault rifle

assault rifle i used to kill a witch my teammate startled later on AFTER it killed said teammate, but yeah the auto shotty > all

game is going to be quite awesome

Yeah I only tried single so far cause I heard the game is rather laggy online. And I just crept by the witches. One thing I did not anticipate was how large of a role sound plays in the game, being able to identify what's in the vicinity and not knowing when it's going to hit you is incredibly eery. This will be the best lan game there is when it comes out.

That demo was a lot of fun.

The graphics look far better in motion than they did in screenshots. In terms of gameplay, L4D is probably the fastest and most action packed game that Valve has ever made.

I don't wanna spoil it for the guys who haven't played it yet but anyone that likes zombie films should check this out. The game really does an excellent job of capturing the feel and atmosphere of a zombie flick.

Judging from the demo, the SP is just you + 3 AIs instead of you + 3 other players so the SP and MP are probably the same.

Your AI partners are actually pretty smart and don't get in your way too much.

advanced is pretty tough, cant imagine expert

Just get it on steam, cheapo. It makes no sense to skip this when you bought a POS like R2.

using the server browser is so much easier, you can open it by typing "openserverbrowser" (minus the quotes) in the console and press enter, go to the custom tab instead of internet though and then you can filter and all that jazz, the ping on some of these is insane, but now you can sort by lowest to high!

Just pre-ordered through Steam (along with Empire Total War). Downloading demo now.

Also I grabbed Far Cry 2 and Fable 2 at GS today and the peon there when I was buying it asked if he could pre-order Left 4 Dead for me. I said I was getting it through Steam and he looked like he was shot in the head.
