I've been listening to Sade's new album a lot lately. I really like it but I don't think hard beats go well with Sade's voice. She sounds best with light strings and piano, and preferably horns. Heavy drums do not fit Sade at all. Modern music trends dot not fit Sade.

Still, this year is the best year in a while for rnb/soul. You got Erykah Badu, new Usher, Janelle Monae, Leela James, The Foreign Connection, Sade, a decent Rihanna album, Raheem DeVaughn's fantastic album. As the year ends, hopefully Miguel's new album can be a great addition.
Overall, between this, the new Kanye and Nas/Damian Marley...good year for black music.
