I don't get why people say James Blake is dubstep... he really is nothing of the sort, I don't even know what I'd call it... minimalistic downtempo/chill maybe?

Dubstep originally came from UK 2-step garage, which came from 4x4 garage, which came from sped-up versions of NYC/Jersey deep house producers...

i recently rediscovered how much fun 2-step/garage can be thanks to Four Tet's Fabriclive. think i would really appreciate a night out dancing to that stuff.

song is so much fun to cover. my band used to do a synthpoppy version but i can imagine it holding up in almost any genre.

Deadmau5 is actually a decent producer (he's also been doing it for years since the Impulse Tracker days) when he puts in a bit of effort, but yeah he usually just spams beatport just to get his name out there, and the quality suffers:
