Madden 10 online on XBL is like walking into the ghetto of online gaming. EA is selling so much shit in that game they should have a 80 point bucket of KFC just to shut up the idiots who plague it.

Play Madden on all Madden. It's pretty fun. It's infuriating at first, but then things slow down and it's a challenge.

I'm almost finished with Assassin's Creed.  I think there's like two assassinations left (the mission I'm on and the hidden memory, which I'm sure must include another assassination).

Not going to bother with the flag hunts, other than the one I already finished (Masyaf).  If I could find a decent FAQ that has the locations of all the templars on a map or something, I might try to do that achievement, since I've already killed almost half of them anyway.

Spent most of the day yesterday tackling Endless Setlist in Rock Band 1 with the only local friend who plays it. It was a pretty good time, though I'm still hoarse today. We played on Hard because there are about 5 songs we just can't deal with on Expert. Highway Star, Green Grass and High Tides and Flirtin' with Disaster on Expert still kick our ass normally, but considering the whole 58-song progression is from easiest to hardest, we would have probably started epyk failyur with late-song re-tries from about the 2/3rds mark, and not been able to finish. Anyway, it was nice to get that out of our system.

So I played a few games of Uncharted 2 multi with Himuro, Bebpo, Duckroll, and Y2Kev.  Had to do an update before playing; the patch was around 100MB.  Did that add in new maps?  I thought I saw one I'd never seen before.  Felt pretty rusty; it's been a while, but I really didn't like how the game kept matching our party up (the highest level was Himu at 16) against dudes who were like level 50 or higher.  WTF?   :lol  I wanted to do regular deathmatch games, but Bebpo kept picking the variety route-- inevitably leading to deathmatch matches with pistole/snipers only.  Not that big a fan of that kind of match.

Also played some SSF2T HD Remix and SF4, and a little bit of Tekken 6.  Went back to Marvel Ultimate Alliance on 360, which I am slowly playing through.  Still not sure which team of characters to go with yet.  I used the Fantastic Four to clear the second mission, but didn't really like any of them except for the Thing.  He seems better than the Hulk in this game, which is kind of weird.

And I finally cleared chapter 7 in Queen's Blade Spiral Chaos.  Since it's a genre I rarely ever play, the game is really tough for me.  At least now my party is back up to four members; time to spend time grinding free battles to get the fourth back up to the same level as everyone else.  I want to try Disgaea when I finish this, but I think that game is going to be too overwhelming, so maybe I should just stick with the Banbresto S/RPGs and go with a Super Robot Wars game instead.

Disgaea is pretty easy if you just do the story mode.  If it's you start getting involved in the Item World stuff and level raising that it becomes a long game.  I recommend it.

Look at my favorites. The HL2 mods are owning my steam and my precious game time right now.  :lol  Some are pretty good. Can't believe I never tried those before.

Minerva was reaaally good. No wonder Valve scooped the developer up.

I heard good things about Minerva and will try it out eventually.  I did play Research and Development when it came out and thought it was awesome.

I'm playing Darksiders and I guess Machinarium.

I started Machinarium and an hour or so into it I started getting bored.  The puzzles were alright by the pacing is way too slow.  I hate how if you accidentally click another location while you're tall or short, you have to wait through the entire long waking animation.  Everything seems to have so much animation and so little user input that I'm somewhere between bored and annoyed when playing the game.  I know the solution to the puzzle but it takes at least five times longer to solve it than it should because everything is so slow.  First time I've really had this problem in an adventure/puzzle game.

Got The Last Remnant and played for a few hours today. The combat is SOOOO refreshing, and the few environments I've seen so far are fucking gorgeous. I can already tell that I'm probably gonna love it; dunno why it seems to have reviewed so poorly. The yucky graphical issues are turning me off, but I assume playing it from the HDD will partially remedy that, so whatever. I was poking around on GameFAQs and stuff earlier and I'm wondering how important it is to follow the somewhat rigorous guidelines for optimizing stat gains. Like, should I really be dodging every mob I see and play this like I'm doing an LLG or something, or can I do whatever for a while and focus on that shit later? Any other general tips?

Also picked up DMC4. Pretty jizztastic, although it doesn't really feel like a whole lot has changed since DMC1 lol. Still having loads of fun with it aside from the fucking HORRIBAD pseudo-platforming. I really wish they would at least allow Son of Sparda from the get-go, cuz Devil Hunter is easymode right now.

TLR is amazing, FINALLY someone appreciates it

For the most part, just play through, but dont worry too much about grinding. You'll only hurt yourself in the long run. Download the DLC, and when you get to that point you can use that to grind grind grind for stats.

Sweet. Was kinda getting the vibe that a lot of that advice seemed to be geared toward hardcore stat perfectionists, but they made it sound like the storyline bosses would be almost insurmountable if I didn't carefully prepare and blah blah blah.

It reminds me a LOT of Romancing SaGa, right down to the esoteric leveling mechanics

You will probably have to go to the DLC place for stats, but you dont have to go hardcore to beat the game. Use a guide for any missable quests, since you cant fight the Absolute Conquerer unless you do them.

I spent ~$2 more and had a similar reaction a week or two ago.

Actually, it's still entertaining for 5 minutes, then you decide if you want to continue for another two hours or quit now and save yourself.

Serious Sam HD and Machinarium are the two games I regret getting during the sale

Serious Sam HD was one of the worst gaming purchases I made last year. I bought it for the co-op not realizing that no one was playing co-op, indeed that's my fault for not doing research beforehand but that game has always been bad outside of co-op. It's old-school in the very worst of ways.

Turned Tales of Graces to the hardest difficulty level and wow, game is so much more fun.  Battles are now 30 seconds instead of 10 seconds.  Those extra seconds actually make battles more enjoyable because you are doing more dodging/comboing.  Plus you get way more xp and stuff playing on the higher difficulties.

Although the worst part was that I had assumed the game had a retry option if you died in battle like FFXIII because when I died on a boss once it had one.  So I let myself die instead of running away in a normal battle I was losing after 90 mins of straight grinding and....lost it all  :maf  It's a good thing the game is very good or I'd probably stop playing for a while after losing that much time.

Copy/pasting this from GameFAQs since I posted it there before I noticed that their forum is dead.

Quote
I only started the game last night and just finished the storyline fight at Blackdale. Now that things are opening up and I can recruit soldiers I want to start working on my union compositions and whatnot. This (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=939444&topic=47774489) seems to be one of the most comprehensive guides around regarding planning, but it's kinda vague in some areas, and I dunno if that's simply because the info I'm looking for will be easier discerned as I progress in the game or what. Here's some of the stuff I'm wondering about:

+What is a "healing tank" as referenced in the above guide?

+Should I be making each union geared toward a specific purpose? For example, one that is strictly combat arts/melee, one that is mystic arts/ranged, one that is healing?

+When I am doing extensive grind sessions, how should I be attacking? I'm kinda fuzzy on the finer nuances of "leveling"; I understand the idea of trying to avoid scrub enemies and keeping BR low so I get bigger gains from bosses, but should I be limiting my leaders to a specific "path" (e.g. ONLY combat arts, ONLY mystic arts, etc) from the get-go?

+Any commonly agreed upon "best" weapon type for Rush? At the moment I'm using a 2H Katana that I upgraded and it's doing pretty good damage, but again I'm having trouble finding a consensus on this.

I'm not worried about perfecting my stat gains or any of that shit, I'm just totally in the dark on group composition and stuff. Maybe that's because I'm still not very far along and I'm overthinking stuff, I dunno. I'm finding it strange that there aren't a plethora of super in-depth FAQs for all the hidden intricacies of the mechanics.

This game is aweeeeeesome though. Was trying to balance it with DMC but I said fuck it lol

Playing NSMBwii.

I've beaten it already, but I have to get all the coins now. Playing through the game with another person was self-sabotage. We could never coordinate ourselves properly to get all the coins the first time, so now it's up to me to fetch all the ones we've missed during our frantic run-through.

And we've missed a lot.

+ Healing Tank... dunno what this term is. I'd imagine it's a bunch of units together that know how to heal/use items

+ You can if you want, see "Healing Tank". I made sure at least a couple people knew some healing.

+ Stats build depending on how you attack. Physical - STR, Mystic - Magic, etc. Also group together enemies, dont just fight one enemy, then the other, etc. If thre's more than one, group them.

+ I use Dual Wield, the game explains how each method is useful. 1H Shield is good for defense, 2H is good for attack, Dual Wield is a good mixture.

Above all, make SURE you get BAULSON. He is GOD TIER (along with Torgal).

The standard setup is something like, 3 groups of 4, etc. Spread them out. One leader per group.

lol I just noticed I put the wrong link in that post. fml. Correct one: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=118750

Anyway, so I guess the main idea is to pick a specific fighting style for each unique character and stick with it instead of being a shitty jack-of-all-trades that is just mediocre at everything?

And I already nabbed Baulson. Caedmon sounds pretty godly in endgame as well

I didn't have any problems with the online co-op, my problem came from remembering that Serious Sam provides the most and only shallow entertainment.  I played Serious Sam HD for about 2 hours  online, and there were bits of nostalgia playing it, but I'm pretty much done with it.  I tried the Painkiller demo (too lazy to find my box copy) to see if I felt the same way and that game still holds up well.

Why the hell are levels an hour long but no interim saving ability?  I died at the tail end.  Sure it started me at the beginning of the section of the game but tsc tsc Valve.

My goal is to rampage through the campaigns this weekend and then it is back to Gamefly for it.

I'm getting another 360 today and trading in all of my games I own for it.  I'm going Gamefly and XBLA from now on.  I don't expect to get more than $20 for the trade ins but I'll take that.

Tried the drum lessons in Beatles RB, found out that drums are hard. "Do this simple thing" OK "Now lead with your other hand; just reverse what you were doing." OK... no, wait... not OK. I think I got it. Oh, wait, while I was thinking about how I got it down, I reverted to the original rhythm. FFFFFUUUU

Also went back to Burnout Paradise and found that my tryst with Stuntman Ignition has completely screwed up my driving controls.

STALKER

Pretty good so far. I'm using the unlimited money trainer. Makes the game more entertaining.

Playing Uncharted 2 with Bebpo, Defuser, Himuro, and Duckroll.  We just did a plunder game where we beat these idiot kids -no thanks to Himu Himu who team-killed two of us during a crucial moment- after coming back from almost losing.   :lol

I went down three levels and lost $20,000+ for quitting a match in progress to join their game, too.   :'(

When do you guys all meet up to play? I wouldn't mind playing a few games with you guys, even tho I am pretty bad at the game and still slowly making my way through single-player.

me and duck and himuro have been playing nightly for the last few days around 7-8pm PST for the evening.  When we play we invite whoever is online in our friends list, so if you're online around then I'll toss you an invite :)  I think I need to add you to my psn list.

Picked up Darksiders for no apparant reason.  Don't know a damn thing about it other than reading some off hand comment from someone online that it was similar to Soul Reaver.

Guess I'll see for myself.

I hate spirit tracks so much.  Drive your train to the next dungeon!  (5-10 mins later) Oh wait the bridge is out!  Drive ALL THE WAY BACK ACROSS THE OVERWORLD to the bridge worker.  Seriously not only is this the worst zelda game ever made but this is just a terrible DS game.  Looking at the guide I'm over halfway through it now and at this point I'd give it a 5/10.  If it didn't have the prestige "zelda" name I would have shelved this ages ago and played something good while waiting for Kingdom Hearts PSP.  Worst game of 2009 imo, at least that I played.

Should get my copy tues or wed.  Then I can drop zelda as my portable game of the moment, yay!

...though I'll probably finish up zelda after KH just for completion sake since I'm pretty far in.

I wouldn't be playing it; it would have been sold off already.  Don't see the point in playing through shitty games.
