Really loving Radiata Stories, apart from the lead character being a douche, and the ridiculous lack of savepoints. It's a lot of fun 'collecting' characters, stalking them as they go on their daily schedules, etc. Combat is simple but fun and the graphics, upscaled on PS3, look real nice.

Yeah, I'm using the guide and checklists... I hate how in certain parts of the game, it seems like you get railroaded into doing a mission, instead of it letting you concentrate on the sidequest/character recruitment. Happened a few times to me already.

Question: If you play New Game+, can you keep all the recruited chars in your friends list? That's what I heard. Thinking of going through the game twice, getting every char on the human side, start New Game+, and then getting every char on nonhuman side.

Shibuya for the ipod is a fun free app.

Another one of those games with a superfluous achievement system though.

I'm on the gamecenter thing if anyone wants to add me.

FWIW, Shibuya shows as buck-ninety-nine on the store. I've only got 8 sumthin' left on my prepaid, so I'd need to know more before investing 25% of it. (I dislike doing this debit thing, but I am also not fond of plugging in my checking card willy-nilly.)

pretty sure you don't keep recruited characters but it doesn't really matter because you can't use human character on the nonhuman side and viceversa

the human character are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay stronger

I grabbed it last night when it was free apparently. Basically its like the vid I showed previously, in addition the game presents you with a chunk of achievements at a time. For instance, it may want you to score a certain multiplier, do a certain combo amount, or have you survive for a set amount of time. Once you complete each set, a newer chunk of achievements is unlocked. These are more challenging. The soundtrack is great, and I like the minimalistic nature of the whole game. I'm not sure if its worth getting over other paid falling block puzzle apps though.

I've already added you btw, play your Flight Control already!

Ninja Gaiden Black is WAY easier than I remembered. Beat Alma on the second try (I didn't use potions the first time around, got glitched into her grab), and pretty much everything I remember raging over is a cakewalk. Wtf.

Yeah normal is pretty easy. I hated having to go through every difficulty again in order to play Master Ninja mode when I bought it on Xbox Originals.

I'm gonna be doing the same thing. I took a look at the boss strategy for Alma on Hard, the guy on the FAQ made it sound stupid difficult, but is it just Alma + mobs? Sounds easy.

Splinter Cell Conviction

The game is better and worse than the demo, which I didn't really like.  The best part is the writing.  I was laughing so hard in the fair level because all the enemies were going on about the airfield from earlier in the game.  Every two seconds it was "THIS ISN'T THE AIRFIELD, FISHER! SHOW US HOW YOU DID IT AT THE AIRFIELD! PAYBACK FOR WHAT HAPPENED AT THE AIRFIELD!"  At the end there was one guy left and I stood behind him as he kept popping in and out of cover saying those lines.

It is the campaign that isn't good.  The whatever the mission mode is called is fun.

so a patch for etrian odyssey 3 is out and i decided to gave it a spin and so far it has been.... good? ??? ???

battle goes a lot faster than 2 and in fact it makes me wonder why it took them 2 sequels to reach this speed in the first place, force skills now charge a lot quicker but at the same time they are also weaker as opposed to 2 where they take forever and can turn a battle around,in etrian odyssey 2 force skills depends on your job (so a warrior and a wizard have different force skills) but here you equip them trough a special menu and find new one as you proceed, most force skills also require more than a single partecipant and using one will drain the force bar of every partecipant

quest still gives mostly lame reward but this time you at least get some bonus experience in what i thinks is a desperate effort to justify them, the place that gives quest also now gives you hint about how to get conditional drops

there is now a minigame where you navigate the sea, trying to find new location,it's actualy really fun and in fact i think i spent more time playing this than the actual game, everytime you find a new location you unlock special quests... these special quests involve teaming up with a team of CPU controled members to beat some monsters and here are the shocking part

1) the CPU is actualy smart,i teamed up with a healer and he did his job right
2) these special team are cool designed,1 of them was a team made of a princess,a defender and a warrior, the princess would buff, the defender would take the damage and the warrior would deal it,the end results is that all i had to do was adding a medic to the mix and the battle played with me actualy playing a role support
3) the reward are actualy worth the effort,i got a weapon which was actualy decently strong and had ice element added on top of it and one limit manual

there is also a new system where you can add effect to weapons, tough which effect you can add depends on items you find as you play (one of them i got as a normal quest reward)

the game just seems to be better designed, floor 2 has a really strong monster that shows in random encounter but he doesn't have any attack which instant murder all your party and he actualy shows his mugs only on day which mean you can dodge him simply by wandering around the night, and none of the class seems to have any game breaker skill or useless skills

so basicaly so far so good tough it wouldn't surprise me if it's going to quickly turn sour

you get better limit skills the more you beat sea quests

also since I just learned this lately, there are three different endings, might wanna look into ahead of time if you want the "true ending"

not a really big fan of multiple ending,it's just a cheap way to force the player into replaying some stuff to see the whole game

also i don't get this

spoiler (click to show/hide)
if you go for ending 1 you get the shogun and an armor for the robot, and if you go for ending 2,you get the robot and a sword for a shogun... do they expect you to beat the game twice so you can use the robo-armor in ending 1 after ending 2?

also from what i understand you don't get anything in the true ending so why you would go for it?

Decided I needed to stop playin Gaylo and get back to my backlog so I lent it to a friend and started playing Dead Rising for the first time ever. I like it a lot, a little archaic in some places but it has a real charm about it. I keep fucking up survivor missions, I can tell I'll need to do a few play throughs/read some faqs to save most of them.

As you've no doubt figured out, DR is designed for multiple playthroughs. Multiple, contiguous playthroughs. Before you consult a FAQ for formulaic, optimized completion, try getting through a few runs just to see what you like and what you don't. It's one of my favorite games; I'm hoping DR2 lives up to its inheritance.

Wrapping up Deathspank. I'm 85% of the way to 20th level, and have possibly cleared all the sidequests, with only the last boss to go. I've enjoyed the ride overall, but I don't need to play the sequel, and I'm ready to be done with this one. I've laughed out loud at many of the jokes, but even on "Hard" the game is exceedingly easy.

Katamari Damacy - BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER

Zone of the enders: The 2nd runner - the best anime mecha game that it's not about an actual anime

God Hand - you bet on chiauaua races,i repeat, you bet on chiauaua races, and one of the stages is actualy called "GIANT ENEMY CRANE!"

SMT:Nocturne - for me it still remains the only good ps2 rpg atlus cranked,i guess you might want to check persona 3? i don't like it but i seems to be in the minority

Disgaea - you grind, see wacky jappa cutscenes about power rangers and then deal damage in the number of millions!

Psychonauts - i think this is the last western game i actualy ever enjoyed

Ape Escape 2 - it's awesome

i guess there are a shitload of rpg but it would be useless to list them?

Try Kunoichi/Nightshade if you liked Shinobi...it's the follow-up game.

I'm currently playing the hell out of Persona 3 Portable on PSP, so I'd recommend Persona 3 FES on PS2.  Normally don't go for RPGs but this game is fun as hell.

Other stuff not mentioned:

-SSX Tricky and SSX3
-Rally Shox
-The Onimusha series
-Tenchu Fatal Shadows
-Champions Of Norrath and Champions Return To Arms
-The Mark of Kri and Rise Of Kasai

Plenty more out there...

i got inside the 2nd stratum in EO3,it took me like 30 turns to defeat the first boss,i think it took less turns to defeat every boss in EO2 :lol

i also finished every sea quest i had,i got a nice limit skills which count as a fire attack so now i don't have to worry about any conditional drops that ask for magic or fire attacks

so far the game as been free from the typical atlus bullshits, you know when you are there doing your stuff and an enemy appears out of nowhere, explode in your face and kills your whole party? this game seems free of that

proceding is somewhat slow and i'm still annoyed at some of the stuff (like how i have to waste time grinding for moneys because mobs barely drops spare change) but yea this is a lot better than EO2

About 6 missions in to the Knight's chapter in Half Minute Hero. This one is probably my least favorite so far. Hope to finish it pretty soon.

Final dungeon of DQ9 and it's a doozy. Probably won't go on to all that bonus content, since I want to move on to Ys 7.

Gonna play more Radiata Stories this weekend.

oh i loved the knight chapter! you pick the sage, run away from monsters, sets trap around and when you need the last few seconds, you throw yourself at the big monster hoping that you can stop him

it's like someone took escort mission and made them good,in my opinion the worst one was the princess

anyway after the knight chapter you don't have much else

spoiler (click to show/hide)
you unlock a mode called Hero 300 which is basicaly a single really big map where you have 5 minute to finish and not a single second more, after finishing Hero 300,you get a bonus map called Hero 3 which is basicaly the complete opposite, the map is really small but you only have 3 seconds per reset, finishing that just give you a sound test or some stuff like that

Been playing bits of SSF4 and Halo Reach MP, but mainly I have just been focusing on Persona 3 Portable.  I am still on Floor 2 of the Tatarus, but have hit the point where I'm at the entrance to Floor 3 and waiting for it to be unlocked.  Been grinding a bit for the upcoming boss fight in preparation.

Was looking for a good JRPG to sink some time into. My friend got Ys 7 on his PSP for me and after playing a few hours into it I just lost interest. Nothing was really grabbing me. So after some fence-sitting I decided to cave and buy Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360.

Verdict? Fuck everyone who shit on this game.

I figured my gaming burnout needs to be cured with old games. Disliking playing games is unnatural. I must persist. I will not spend another single day as a non-gamer. I will die a pimply bloated nerdling, and nothing can stop me from achieving this lifelong dream. :punch

Gogs weekend sale came just at the right time. Bought a bunch of them. I will spreadsheet-in-space through MoO3 to cleanse myself ritually and after that shall heal my wounds with Outcast, Syberia and Arcanum.

Oh, and I also got Dominion and a bunch of other boardgames. That's plan B.

Just make sure you download and keep a hard copy of all your games in case they disappear overnight again.

Now that I finished my Midterm I'm gonna get back to GOOD GAMIN'(tm) again

Playing Dead Rising 2.  Just hit lvl.28 and Day 3.  I'm hoping I'll finish the story and get the all psychos killed achievement this run.  Save all survivors for next run.  Game owns.  I love punching the crap out of zombies with MMA Gloves + Nails.

Tomorrow I should be getting Kingdom Hearts Re:coded and that's gonna be my handheld addiction for a week or so until I finish it.

Otherwise now that I have some time I want to get back to Amnesia: The Dark Descent and finish it.  Was liking what I played.  And I started playing Ys Origin the other day to see if it worked in Win 7 (and it does...mainly [had one non-fatal glitch]).  The gameplay is OMG SO GOOD which makes sense since it's based on Felghana combat.  But the game has the WORST OPENING EVER.  I kid you not, it is 20 mins of UNSKIPPABLE FMVS OF STILLS and then 20 mins of GIRL TALKING TO TREE and then you gain control and there is a save point and your first save is 45 min gametime.  WTF.  It's ironic because once you actually start playing it has the least amount of text ever in Ys since the entire game is just one HUGE TOWER DUNGEON that you traverse gaining new abilities and fighting bosses along the way.  Anyhow I'm glad I'm past the opening because the gameplay is so damn good.  The platforming is awesome and I hope they add it back for the next Ys.  I definitely missed it in Ys Seven.
