i played the first 2 chapters of mirror's edge

well it's kinda like playing prince of persia,jump there,climb the tube,swing the pipe... shifting the point to first person instead of third doesn't change much,it just makes things more confusing at first,having to replay a section because you end fucking up because of the camera is annoying but the checkpoint are plenty so i guess i can't really complain

one thing that annoyed me is that it's not always clear where you are supposed to go but then the game reminded me of the B button.... whoops! that made me feel a little stupid

it's kinda fun but at the same time i feel like an hamster going trough the motion,especialy since the path i have to take is magicaly colored in red in front of me

God, Fable 2. :yuck

*sticks in Dynasty Warriors 7*

I actually had a lot of fun with Fable 2, really dug the whole "building a real estate empire" aspect... it's still a pretty shallow action RPG but it's a helluva lot more interesting than its prequel. Music SUCKKKKKKKKKED and there was a lot of crappy parts with it (mashy combat, blurry graphics, extremely simplistic storyline)

Tried the Dragon Age 2 demo, now that game seems like a big POS. Horrific combat and really poor graphics, I'm also not a fan of generic western fantasy settings so this is gonna be a "pass". Only game series I really like from Bioware is Mass Effect.

Started playing Fallout New Vegas again and I'm already hooked. There's a lot of great mods out there and I've gotten most of them [except I chickened out on the nude mod and went with the prudish non-nude female body replacer instead]. There's a mod that adds in a lot of new locations to venture into, as well as another that adds in some stronger enemies that you can collect a bounty on. And a texture replacer that livens things up a bit. Good stuff.

Edit: After I beat New Vegas last year, I pretty much swore off the two Bethesda-produced games all together. I really loved them, but the format was starting to wear thin after 100+ hours [and double that for Oblivion and another 100+ for Morrowind] and I intended not to play them ever again. I don't know what happened. The past two days I've already put more than three hours into a new character and spent another few hours downloading mods. :lol

I've been doing the same thing.  I bought NV again when it went on sale over at D2D and I swear I spend more time plugging in mods than actually playing it....of course I've already gone through it before so the mods are just icing on the cake.  I'm really liking the Project New Vegas mod(s) along with the one that give you a ton more bounties to go through.  I have yet to find a HD texture mod that I actually like but thankfully there's a ton of interesting stuff out there.

Doesn't that mod give you a tool in your inventory that lets you alter which weather effects are enabled or not?

Got 400+ million in Akai Katana, then I decided to watch a top replay for the first time... And as it turns out, I didn't know about two major techniques for scoring well: killing popcorn enemies with the C-shot in Ninja mode spawns pink suicide bullets (I almost never used C-shot in this game), and you can sit on top of lasers while in Ninja mode to spawn a fuuuuuuuckton of bullets around you. Having more bullets on screen means I'll be able to get a higher hit counter and get more gold, so I'm going to be aiming for 500+ million now. :D

Game's amazing. I think I'd even put it above Muchi Pork. Dark Souls is going to have a lot of work cut out for it if it wants that GotY title.

up to chapter 5.....

personaly it feels like every level is the same,you start outside where everything is white,you enter some building "oh noez the cop! run!" then you get outside again and the chapter is done

there isn't just a lot of variety to it,apparently i'm already halfway done so at least there isn't much of it

502m in AKS Zetsu, fuck yes. That got me up to #10 on the leaderboard. Somehow I managed to kill the stage 6 boss with only one bomb and no deaths, so I made it to the TLB for the first time and died on the first bullet he shot. Oh wellz.

Solar 2.
its a cool little indie game.
you start as an asteroid and consume other asteroids to get bigger to become a planet then continue to consume stuff to become a star. from there you can pull small planets into orbit and have them consume asteroids to become bigger and support life. life manifests itself as little ships that fly around you shooting stuff. you can suck of the planets to become even bigger or continue building up a good solar system of waring planets. there are missions which seem to usually amount to "go here" - "kill this solar system" etc.

when you start getting bigger and have a bunch of planets orbiting you it gets kinda crazy since you're having to manage the size of your planets individually. getting stuff to enter orbit around them is difficult because they themselves are orbiting you and if you do not line it up properly the asteroids will crash into your planet causing it to lose mass.

beyond just the motivation of building up and doing the missions there isn't much point to the game. you just fly around space.

it's 10 bucks on steam.

My limited impression of both companies:

Wayforward = Contra 4 = good action game
Griptonite = Spiderman SD DS = decent metroidvania game

Dunno who I'd want to do Shinobi.  I'm still annoyed Shinobi 3DS isn't based on the PS2 game.  I'd love for another 3d zero-shift action Shinobi.

I enjoyed your analysis, but I just wanted to say that Shattered Dimensions DS ran at like 5-60fps with one of the most unstable framerates I've seen.  The DS could not handle that game.

finished chapter 7 so i guess that means only 2 chapter remains... you know this is so short that i feel almost bad saying that i find the levels repetitive

it really feels like i'm playing prince of persia the sand of time again,you'll go "ooohhh look at the cool shit i pulled off" once in a while,sometimes you don't understand where the fuck you are supposed to go because you didn't notice the spot where you could climb,you get incredibly annoyed everytime enemies are involved but ultimately the game just feel a little dull,maybe it's the music or the place you visit or i have an allergy to western games,i don't know...

in other news i finaly broke my 10,000 GP quota,tough i wish i could remove some game from it (i have like 10 GP got from gears of war 2 because i finished the tutorial,that's not cool at all >:()

Starting to get comfortable with Yun in SSF4AE. Took a little while to learn what the hell I'm doing with him, but at least I'm starting to win more than I lose. The lag is really annoying too, because combos I can do offline with 95% consistency is more like 60-70% online. Fucking Super Link Fighter 4.

aaaaaaand done,i don't have too much to add to what i said in my previous post,chapter 8 was the most annoying in the "where the fuck i'm supposed to go now?" i actualy did the whole game unharmed and got the test of faith achievement,doing the bit with the servers just by punching soldiers was VERY VERY VERY annoying

anyway here's my gamercard

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Batman Arkham Asylum: 50 - this was the first game i put on 360,i played for a bit and then just left for the greener pasture of prototype/FF13

Prototype: 510 - the hardest achievement i got is the one you get for getting a gold in every event,i got a few miscellaneous one and the story related one,i don't think i'll ever aim for the one that involve collecting every stone,nothing more annoying and stupid than collecting stuff in a sandbox enviroment

FF13: 920 - well the only achievement i'm missing is treasure hunter,achievement related to random drop are stupid >:(

Lost Odyssey: 1000 - well thanks to a guide,getting collector was easy,the most annoying party was grinding skill points for the various immortal character

Beatiful Katamari: 30 - i got this thinking playing katamari in HD would be awesome but i was wrong so only 30 point

Top Spin 3: 20 - somebody played and got the "PLAYED A MATCH" achievement,this shouldn't be here >:(

Mass Effect: 425 - i didn't even bother to get the achievement you get for finishing most of the sidequest,whoever thought that someone would enjoy finishing the game THRICE with all the sidequest done need to be hanged

Resonance of Fate: 1000 - like lost odyssey this had a very annoying grinding achievement and the rest were pretty easy and nice

Viva Pinata: 220 - stopped playing somewhere in the middle so it got stuck like this

Bayonetta: 1000 - finishing the game twice on hard wasn't bad,finishing it thrice without witch time was!

Super Street Fighter: 80 - well a lot of GP are got by playing online so there wasn't a lot to get by starting,i got the achievement you get by finishing the game on normal without continue (by spamming honda ass smash throw no less) and a few random one

Nier: 630 - feature another achievement that's related to random drop,even worse than FF13 because of suckier drop rate

Gears of War 2: 10 - played the tutorial! yay!

Dead Rising 2: 180 - i got to level 25 and got half of the combo card and actualy i don't think i was missing much to end my first run (last story boss i killed where the 2 girls) but like with viva pinata i just stopped playing

Just Cause 2: 605 - i got all the various kill achievement (kill 10 people by fall,kill 10 people while they are in the air,kill 10 people by hitting them with a car....) and some collection one

Darksiders: 1000 - easy 1000,playing on hard made the game better,having to collect every item was annoying though

Blue Dragon: 1000 - grind,grind,grind,grind,probably the biggest grind out of all the 1000 grind i did

Pure: 75 - i played the first bunch of races and this is all i got

Tales of Vesperia: 1000 - some achievement of this were distinguished mentally-challenged (like the one you get for walking on the world map for 10 hours!) but i had fun getting all the junk,finishing every sidequest,completing the monster book... would have be better if you didn't have to finish it twice to get all the achievement

Mirror's Edge: 430 - well as i said i got test of faith by punching a lot of people,all of the story related one and some miscellanous one (but i didn't hunt for suitcases)

Total: 10185
Number of Games: 20

People love Wipeout HD and while I recognize it being a great game, I can't get into Wipeout anymore. During the psx days I preferred Ridge Racer over Wipeout. In the ps2 days I preferred Burnout. Even on the psp, I preferred Ridge Racers. I think Hydro Thunder Hurricane is the best arcade racer this generation though.

I should get back to Wipeout HD sometime.

Wipeout is by far my favorite racing series ever. The perfect combination of music + aesthetics + challenge (well actually the challenge level is a bit too high since I suck at racers)

Wipeout HD + custom soundtrack filled with tons of late 90's EDM = pure heaven

Picked up World of Goo because Sho Nuff has it on his Game Center card. Damned game made me forget to get off the train, ended up going past my stop for the first time in 5 years. It's pretty engrossing

The Dr. Seuss theme really works well for the game. The music is also very good.

On iOS, at least on an iPod Touch, my fat fingers prevent me from seeing what kind of goo ball I am grabbing, so sometimes I destroy existing structures by grabbing an emplaced one instead of an unattached one. The videos on YouTube are all of the Wii version, it seems. Or maybe it's PS3 Move? Anyway, there's a cursor -- it looks easier to use.

Just tested out this MOD for Crysis. It's a little hard to get used to because of the extreme head bob and the way the gun reacts to movement but I think it's pretty interesting and worth checking out.

I thought WaW was quite tedious, but then again I think most COD campaigns are pretty boring.

If you're gonna play one FPS this gen, make it Bulletstorm.

why the previous 360 owner had to be such a dudebro >:(

The last great COD was 2 and the last good one was the first Modern Warfare, others sucked balls.

Beyond wrong. Let the "Veterans" speak on quality please...

I fucking hate people who mash reversals during hit strings in SF4. But I do love punishing their bullshit.

Me too.  It makes sense to do it sporatically or in certain scenarios (like if you're getting hit and down in the life lead), but too many people seem to furiously mash DP/ultra habitually any time they're in hit or block stun.  It's a frustratingly stupid online-only strategy that doesn't even hold through a 3-round set.  I don't get it.

CoD = A++
CoD2 = A+
CoD3 = C-
MW = A-
CoD5 = ??? (probably C- because it's Treyarch)
MW2 = B+
BO = ??? (probably C- because it's Treyarch)

WaW and Blops are huuuuuuuuuuuge improvements over CoD3. That game was absolutely terrible, but WaW and Blops were good enough.
