neverdead is... well... it's freaking boring that's what it is,the premise is amusing and the campy demon hunter setting it's nice but that's like the only good thing i can say about the game
the combat feels all wrong, you have 2 guns but they deal super shitty damage, there's no weight behind them either, they fire super slow and enemies don't stagger at all when hits... saying enemies is a bit of a misleader because the game throws you hordes and hordes and hordes of little quick doggie enemies and never ever mix it up
you also have a sword which you control with the analog stick (kinda like how skyward sword would work without motion control) and it usualy kills every enemy in 1 or 2 hits, which just makes you wonder why you should ever bother using the guns, most of the time the game locks you in a zone and then goes "now kill all the enemies" so you start killing them but they keep coming and after a while you then notice there is an enemy spawner in the distance... so you go attack the enemy spawner only their health bar is huge and it ends up being like this
"Accurate represention of what killing a spawner feels like"apparently there is some mechanism where "accurate strikes deal more damage than just swinging at random" but i'll be damned if i noticed any difference when i tried going more slowly instead of just waggling the stick all over the place
the gimmick of the game is that you have no health bar, instead when enemies hit you,you lose a limb,if you can dodge roll over a limb you regain it,otherwise you can regenerate it after a while,if you lose all your limbs or get hit by a particulary strong attack your head detach and you have to reattach yourself to the torso or wait around 30 seconds before being able to regenerate whole, meanwhile you risk of being eaten by small little ball-like monsters but even if that happens you have a chance to escape by doing a little timing event,so dying it's almost impossible which makes the game even more boring
you do get other guns as you keep going, but ammo for them is pretty rare and it's not like they feel much better than the normal guns, there's some small puzzle and collectibles element like you can detach your head and throw it to reach passage's and the like but really it does nothing into making it less boring
man i remember when playing a konami game meant something

the whole reason i wanted to try neverdead is because the director of the game was apparently involved with ghost babel, which is like the best metal gear game ever (you know it's true!) so it's really disappointing to see this...
