Been playing a bunch of:
- Fallout NV - not very far in, never played F3 either but I'm having a pretty good time so far.
- Witcher 1 - Enjoying this a lot. Just started Act II, loving the fleshed out world and story and pretty much everything except for the sort of mediocre combat.
- Castle Crashers - I've played a bunch of it before, still some good beat-em-up fun and I always enjoy Behomoth's art style.
- Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - Fucking fantastic game, replaying it to psych myself up for the 3DS game. Intelligent Systems is responsible for the majority of Nintendo's good output over the past decade or so, IMO.

If I fail at a game, it's the game's fault and it wasn't "real" difficulty anyway. :maf

Ghost stealth in Dishonored feels like the wrong way to play it, like you're handicapping yourself solely for moral reasons.  In other games it's an equally valid if not more effective tactic.  It's actually kinda strange how they aren't really humanizing the enemies; even the banter is related to their work.  I heard it's a short game so I'll probably end up replaying as a psychopath/typical protagonist.

Really fun game so far.

Stealth is better in the last 3rd of the game when there are more than just 2 or 3 enemies near by.

Nah, a lot of the dialogue is crap tbh.  Most NPC dialogue rambles and all the stupid ANIMU jokes at each save point fall flat completely and I FF through them all.  A lot of the constant swearing is just lame and unfunny and out of character.

There's good lines here and there for sure, but it's definitely amateurish writing.

So I just got a racing wheel. A Logitech G27 wheel.

Giving a few games a try.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is pretty rad with it. Keeping the giant trucks stable and steering is quite a bit easier. As is parking. It's just a really cool experience.

Dirt 3 is a completely different beast. Closed circuit tracks on tarmac are crazy with the wheel constantly fighting back against me. I constantly have to make sure I'm not over adjusting when coming out of turns or I spin out. It's crazy and I love it. I need to keep practicing since I'm routinely coming in last now.

I tried Need for Speed: Shift 2 and found it unplayable. The wheel barely turns. I think this is due to sensitivity or some adjustments that need to be made. I'll come back to it.

I bought F1 2012 so I'll give that a try later tonight or tomorrow.

Finished Barkley, Shut Up & Jam: Gaiden Ep1.

For what it is, it's pretty damn solid.  There's some fun dungeons later in the game, the battle system itself is really good in a Paper Mario x FF way, and the story while short is entertaining enough.  The fact that almost no assets were made for the game and almost EVERYTHING is sprite ripped and music ripped from other games adds an extra layer of "Spot where this is from" hilarity.  Good use of Space Jam as canon.  Ending is a little rushed and the NPC dialogue usually sucks, battles could be a little faster, and the QTE stuff is TERRIBLE (as are most of the mini-games).  It's also pretty unbalanced and the first 1/3rd is challenging and then the rest is easy (kind of like SMT games!) when you have a wider selection of attacks and items.  I like that the game has some non-linear parts and a few sidequests.

All the nods to classic rpgs are good and the humor is often hilarious.  Growing up on 90s Basketball and games like NBA Jam, it's definitely a cool experience but super amateurish (expected from a fan-game made of sprite-music-asset-rips); will be curious to see how the kickstarted Ep2 turns out.  I'm guessing they can't make Ep2 all super illegal full of asset rips like Ep1 since people are actually paying for it which sort of legitimizes it and I'm assuming they will charge money for the final product.  Will play it day 1 though, for sure.

Game kind of has a little too much weaboo in it:

The Disgaea sprite rip is a nice touch:

Ok, I can't hate on any game that references my favorite rpg (Xenogears):

Also the best music rip (and totally unexpected) was:

Wait, I didn't get the Incan gold reference.  What does Incan Gold have to do with Basketball or Barkley?

Btw, I just read up on some interviews about the game and watched the trailer for ep2.  Now that I know that the unreadable terribly long weaboo rants at save points are Actual weaboo rants taken off message boards and that a lot of the weaboo stuff is self-parody of rpg maker devs trying to make their own Final Fantasies...I definitely have a greater appreciation of the game.

Mark of the Ninja - Doing a no-alarm, no-kill run on my 1st go through has been extremely satisfying once I got the hang of it.  Great stealth game.  Looking forward to doing a ALL KILL run in the future to make up for all the annoying parts that I had to think outside the box to keep my no-alarm/no-kill policy but still hit main & optional objectives.

How is a no kill run even possible? Items are far too limited for that and there are times where you are forced to kill, such as the guy on the first stage who's on the ledge and you're on a wall. He has a light shining on the wall, so the only to not get caught is to a ledge kill.

i killed a dude in the first stage, tho i'm not sure if its the one youre talking about, but other than that i'm up to stage 6 or 7 and havent killed anyone yet. there's all alternate paths and ways to get guards to leave their posts; hasn't been hard so far at all.

The first stage was a pain because of all the points they want to teach you how to kill.  I had to use some tricky distraction stuff.  Like that part you can climb up the opposite wall and throw a dart at the far away light and when he walks towards it you trail him and drop down.  First stage is also easier on replay after you have a few distraction items from the following stages.

Watching this helped me figure out how to play the game no-alarm/no-kill style.  Did stage 2-4 that way on my 1st try, stage 1 took me a replay.

yeah, I'm maybe 3/4 the way through, never caught, and only 'killed' a boss because it leads into a cut scene.  Was even wearing the outfit without a sword and the ninja pulled one out for that scene.

and are you guys playing with a gamepad? what surprised me about MotN is much more I enjoy playing it with keyboard and mouse.  maybe that's just me.

the game plays completely fine with no kills and always gives you an opportunity to proceed that doesn't feel glitchy or half-assed. and the game freezes while you aim so you have all the time in the world :wtf  frankly i though an mgs vet would be better than this. :comeon

Just because time freezes doesn't stop the aiming from being atrocious. Like me, that guy tried to aim a dart at a light for maybe 30 seconds before giving up. It's annoying.

Also, on that stage, the player is using items you don't even get on stage 1, so it seems the best way to do a no kill run is to simply play the game regularly and then redo the stages and do a no kill run with a full item list.

In MGS, the game gives you everything you need to do no kills from the very outset: a tranq gun, and the ability to make noises and distractions without resorting to an item (knocking or running). Sorry, but I will always give shit to "stealth" games that place an emphasis on killing far more than not killing. You don't have to replay shit in order to be able to not kill in MGS. Meanwhile, that guy is using late game items in the first stage, suggesting it's impossible to do a no kill run on stage 1 without playing the later parts of the game.

Stage 1 is the only stage like that.  1 stage out of a dozen or so.  And it's mainly the tutorial and replayable.  Not a big deal.

Also the aiming has problems for throwing things, yes.  But the checkpoints are EVERYWHERE and you're not penalized for letting the guards kill you if you set off an alarm and restarting or hitting pause and restarting from last checkpoint.

I dunno, seems like you're making a big deal out of nothing Himuro.

that's why it's surprising.  you think it's like playing something on an emulator.  the interface and controls change to be something between a platformer and adventure game.  WASD to move around and mouse to interact with the environment, aim, etc.

Introductions make a lasting memory. If my first introduction to Mark of the Ninja is a stage where it's all about killing, and despite the fact at mission results, it lists NO KILLS, how am I going to treat the rest of the game? I replayed that stage five times to achieve no kills, and I never made it and was hampered due to my weaker item roll out. I didn't have those items so I can't do a no kill run? Certainly will make me lose respect for it. Any and all competent stealth games should allow people to not kill from the beginning of the game.

I don't think it's making something out of nothing when I'm trying to execute a specific strategy, and I can't because I'm trying hit this bell, but the game won't let me  because it goes to the guy instead, and the bells target lasts all of a frame of a second which makes it hard to hit. Doing this repeatedly in a stage, or even a play session, pisses me off.

WRONG. only upgrade i got was faster lockpicking, and then i stopped because i didnt want to make the game easier. you can get past every level with only the basic items you are given, and even then as far as i can tell it's still possible to get through each room without using consumables.

Horrible? I wouldn't go that far. I think it's certainly a good game, it's not as good as Bayo though. It's more simple and lacking in content. Still parrying is cool, the cut mechanic is stupid fun, and yeah it looks solid. I just wish it had more going on.

It's pretty weak.  Don't get the love at all.  Started a new game+ after finishing it but got bored by the 2nd chapter.  It's not a terrible action game, but it's certainly not a great one.  Maybe if it had another year of development for length, depth and polish.  That's why MGR2 could be great if it gets those.  MGR reminds me a lot of ZoE1.  Just the framework for an eventual great game.

megaman x and x2 are okay.

 :comeon :comeon :comeon

I used to really love MMX1 and 2. I used to prefer X over Classic. But since the release of 9, between 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 I've mostly only ever played Classic without touching X. Last year I played Mega Man X SF and it was shit. So I played MMX instead. I was thoroughly unimpressed for the first time ever. I found the levels boring, and Sonic like in their passitivity. I could speed through levels without much if any effort. It has so little actually good platforming and is more of a run and gun with plat former elements. The bosses are great but little else. Going back an reevaluating the games did wonders.

I am scared to do the same with X4. Up until now it was my favorite Mega Man but my preference in Mega Man has changed so much over the years I don't want to replay it.

well if you think x1's levels suck then you prolly wont enjoy x4's too much more.

ever go thru vile mode in maverick hunter x? i thought it did a great job of making the same old content feel fresh again.
