I think Rashad has a very good chanse of winning. I will make an update on UFC Sweden when I come back home.

I think Rashad has almost zero chance of winning.

Rashad's record is great, but when you look at how he wins, he barely wins.

Barely beats Thiago Silva.
Barely beats Rampage.
Gets KTFO'd by Lyoto.
Even had moments of struggling against Tito early on.

Whereas Jones:
Curbstomps Rampage.
Chokes Lyoto unconscious.
Outside of a close first round against Machida, hasn't had a moment in his UFC career where he wasn't winning the fight.

I say Rashad is getting steamrolled.  Might take until round 4 for the finish, but it's going to happen.

Wildcard is the psychological game.  Outside chance that Rashad is in Jones' head.

Also, excited to see a bunch of Canucks on this card.  Especially the two former Tompkins guys who I used to train with.

Funny to see Chris Clements making his UFC debut.  Six years ago he was a guy with no ground game, who I would easily outgrapple in training, and now he's in the UFC.  (all of them were always miles ahead of me in striking, though :lol)  Makes me wonder what might have been if I had dedicated myself to that path, tho.  I don't think there's any way I'd be UFC-calibre, but I grew up training under someone who turned out to be a world-class MMA coach, but training never became more than a hobby for me.

Relatively close round. I give it to Jones but it was pretty close. Evans had a nice flurry at the end.

Round 2 easily Jones. Evans had no answer for that offense.

Not much happened in the 3rd. I'd still give it to Jones. Evans is pretty much in trouble because he's always struggled with his offense and he can't out wrestle Jones to try to steal it.

meh. Boring fight. Evans is utterly outclassed and has no offense. Jones is fighting conservatively since he knows evans is outmatched but doesn't want to lose to a lucky shot. Therefore its boring. Evans tends to create these kind of fights.

Shit fight. Evans acts like he wants to fight in the last 20 seconds after not doing anything the entire rest of the fight. Jones was very conservative aka boring which is rare for him but won every round imo

Yeah, I'm surprised that Jones didn't try harder to end it. He needs to move up to heavyweight.

I think he should stay at light heavy weight for at least another year or so. I'm not overly a fan of mma fighters jumping around weight classes. Unless they clearly aren't suited for the weight class they are at. It's hard to see who is going to beat him in that division though without getting lucky.

I mean Dan Henderson is probably next but does anybody think he can really beat Jones. He couldn't beat Rampage a few years back.

They were trying to hype up Gustafsson during the last pay per view and I like the kid but he's not close to being ready for somebody like Jones yet.

Bellator starts soon, streaming live here beginning at 4pm Pacific / 7pm Eastern: http://www.spike.com/shows/bellator-fighting-championships/live

Maiquel Falcao vs. Andreas Spang for the MW final should be good, but Falcao had a tough weight cut so he may gas early.

Some of MMA-GAF will be chatting in here if you care to join: http://cbe004.chat.mibbit.com/?channel=#MMA-GAF

Well, that main event was predictable.

Still, decent card.  Good to see all finishes on the main card.  The heavyweights mostly delivered.

Yeah it was a pretty good card. And hopefully we never have to see Frank Mir in another title fight again. He shouldn't have been in this one. And I actually really like Mir as a person. He's entertaining to me. But after that curb stomping by Brock Lesnar, I could never take him seriously as a title contender level fighter again.

In a perfect world, yeah.

But there was really no one else they could have given the fight to on such a short notice after the Overeem clusterfuck.

Mir was the best choice of a bad situation.

All commentary on the fight is "Pacquiao dominated, Bradly -possibly- shaded two rounds - wtf is this shit?!"

Just watched a quick last round vid - the tv pundit score cards predict Pacman up by -NINE- rounds.

Not that they are without fault of course, but seems incredible that we get 115-114 splits lol.

Boxing is fucked - has been for a while.

p.s. i see a lot of people bringing up that Marquez "beat" Pacman and was robbed which i'd completely agree with - however, counteracting a shit judgement with another shit judgement? That solves nothing.

Watched the fight from the beginning. I'm not a huge boxing fan, but it was obvious that Pac dominated this fight and had Bradley looking like he was ready to collapse a couple of times. It wasn't even close.

blah blah fucking blah.

Same thing is said about boxing every six months or so, after a shit-tastic decision.

You're trying to tell me that, after not watching any boxing since Lennox Lewis stopped fighting, Pacquiao-Bradley is the first fight you decided to give the sport a second-chance on?  Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit.  Come the fuck on, son.

Obvious hyperbole.

I've been watching Pac and Mayweather matches the last few years, even watched some shitty Klitchko matches after Lennox left. I was really into boxing before but when the HW division fell apart I have been less interested and this isnt helping.

dude everyone knew that Mir was going to get destroyed exactly like he did which was why there were so many people pulling for Mark Hunt, he would've put up a better fight and don't give me shit about rankings and MMAth, it's all about the stylistic matchups.  But he got injured too anyways.

Regardless, I'm hyped now for this Silva/Sonnen 2 fight, shit is gonna be NUTS when Sonnen shatters the myth that was Anderson Silva.

Tonight's the night.

  :hyper

First ppv I'll actually buy in quite awhile.

I love Silva. I hate Sonnen. But its close. Silva's weakness is great wrestling which Sonnen has and its wasn't any rib injury that caused what happened in the first fight to happen. That being said I thought Sonnen looked terrible against Bisping and if he let Bisping clip him and hurt him then Silva absolutely can. It's a 50/50 fight but my heart will be with Silva.

For what its worth I think Silva owes Sonnen a great debt in the sense that Sonnen was a viable, worthy opponent with a viable worthy gameplan that gave Silva a good deal of mainstream credibility in a way that Silva never had. You want your favorite fighters to have rivals and opposition. Ali needs a Frazier. The Lakers need the Celtics. And MMA has been kinda missing that dynamic recently. This fight mattered in a way that most MMA fights don't. Whether that was manufactured is another debate but it felt real and that's what matters.

Close fight. I'm not sure who actually won.

For what its worth Sherdog had it

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Edgar (49-46 Edgar)
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-10 (48-48 Draw)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Edgar (49-46 Edgar)

I kinda agree with TJ. It was very close. Maybe I was edging towards edgar

Huge UFC drama!

UFC 151 news from Dana: "This is one of my all-time lows as president... For the first time in 11 years we're gonna cancel an event."
Jon Jones refuses to fight Chael Sonnen. Sonnen asked for the fight and accepted. Jones wouldn't.
Dana White on Greg Jackson: "This guy is a f**king sport-killer"
Bisping owns Jon Jones - "fighting chael on 8 days notice. I did... Just sayin"

/r/mma is full of all kinds of discussions regarding this turn of events.

I still think Dana white and the UFC fucked up here. This is poor management. Injuries do happen and the UFC cannot force fighters to have fights that they didn't sign contracts for. Fighters at the end of the day fight for themselves and not for the UFC. Knowing this they, the UFC, should have been better prepared, especially when they put only one very interesting fight.

If this would have happened in a boxing organization we would be seeing Dana White right now shoving his nose in the middle of their business and ''teaching'' them how to do things the way the UFC does things.

Hey, how did Jon Jones get his original title shot, anyway......?

I think it was against shogun with 42 days notice but I might be wrong.

Edit: I thought this was a very well written post by Joe Lauzon:

"Not only has this screwed over all the fans that bought tickets, non refundable airfare, took off work, made arrangements, etc… but think of all the fighters. Fighters that put in full camps, flew people in that helped them trains, etc. By the time I am actually fight, I spend close to 20k between corners, flights, expenses, coaches, etc… and then to have the whole show cancelled because ONE guy didn’t want to fight. This ONE guy that had trained an entire camp, who was the CHAMP and at the top of his weight class, who was going to fight someone who didn’t do the camp, and was fighting UP a weight class.
I have always been a big Jon Jones supporter… but I would be FURIOUS if this happenned to me and I was on the card. To call is scorched earth wouldn’t do it justice."

Hey, how did Jon Jones get his original title shot, anyway......?

I think it was against shogun with 42 days notice but I might be wrong.

Exactly.

Jones got his shot when the champ's opponent got injured, and the champ accepted a fight against an opponent on short notice.

And then, when the shoe is on the other foot, Jones won't do the same.  Even though, with the notice being that much shorter, it's MORE to Jones' advantage.

Yes, the UFC is to blame for putting such a shit undercard on 151.  But they tried to salvage the card.  And it doesn't change the fact that Jones' actions are bullshit.
