The dragon boss was pissing me off cause I kept getting my ass beat within the first few minutes! I got him eventually though. Love the button mashing. Feels so good.

I've been using the sword, I dont feel comfortable to even try any of the other weapons. lol

There's a weapon you can put on your legs that makes the lava harmless, btw.  Dunno if you have it yet.

I remember having to use the hourglass to rebuild the platform like five or six times :lol

Use the handguns on your legs instead of the shotguns when using the sword. It just feels better. Easier to combo with. She busts out like three demon hair kicks at the end of some combos with this weapon set.

Also the scoring system is POOP, imo.

I've beaten every level so far without using items. Unfortunately the Leaderboards dont show that, so theres no way to really reinforce that. Pure Platinums, maybe.

You get points docked for using items at the end of a chapter.  There's no way to win platinum trophies if you use items during a level.  It's the same as if you get killed and use continues, so you do get penalized.

ive used a handful of weak yellow and green items, im still figuring out which combos can be canceled with the snap of a finger, i keep getting caught up close in the middle of something, i also keep getting stone trophies purely due to dying in qte sequences, fml

by the way, my life bar was on the second level by the middle of that shitty lava level, junpeii says this is impossible, anyone else have two bars?

Well, I still think its messed.

I played Chapter 2 the first time, and I fucked up the train achievement (oops). So I play the level, get an overall Bronze. Ok, I'll replay it.

Finish the 2nd go, and I wind up with a Silver. Yay! But for some reason I had a worse combo and time score, so it was actually worse. Why is this?

Not sure. Did you get killed the first time?  Did you get hit a lot the first time?  I think that affects your trophies as well.

As I understand, the main factors you get scored on are:

- Combos
- Time
- Damage taken
- Items/continues used

Maybe you found witch heart pieces in the stages prior?  I think if you do all the Alfheim challenges, you should have enough pieces to have the beginning of a second bar by chapter 2.

Whenever I used items on a stage, the best I'd ever get was a bronze trophy, and usually a stone one so I had to replay it. :/

the only limited move special stage ive done was the one at the bottom of the spiral stair with the wind things on it, and it was the first one i found

of course i found witch heart pieces in the stages prior, i explore EVERYWHERE, im just surprised not everyone has two bars, especially people farther along than me, i was surprised when i got it too, seemed a bit early

it's because leaderboards go by either time or combo score exclusively, not by medal. The in-game scoring doesn't translate to ranking more than one person because it forgives you if you screw up one variable, but do well in another.  They probably found it difficult to come up with some kind of breakdown of all variables (combo, time, item, death) that translates to an accurate rank among all the players.  They'd have to quantify the importance of each variable then combine them all into one score, but doing that opens it up to serious exploitation.

For one thing, you can only do really well on combo points if you don't go for speed and vice versa.  A really good player who got an impressive amount of points for a minimum amount of time won't be recognized on an "overall score" board...they'd be towards the middle. and what if they use an item or die, but still kicked ass anyway?  So the scoreboards are more for making yourself deliberately go for high combo score or low time in a chapter, rather than just playing well like normal.

Just finished this. Pretty great game overall. It's nice to finally have another action game that can hang with NG and DMC (even if it's derivative of DMC). Of course there was still plenty of stuff I didn't like:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
motorcycle and missile surfing missions are garbage, turret section to kill a boss is garbage, QTE's are garbage, button mashing for climax moves is garbage, escorting little girls is garbage, vsync and framerate issues
[close]
The scoring system is a nice concept but it's easily abusable just from taking a look at the leaderboards (9999999 scores everywhere). I think I know how they're pulling off scores like that, so hopefully Platinum will issue a patch to fix it and wipe the leaderboards afterward. Shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Now to go collect the rest of the stuff I missed and then on to Hard mode.

From what I've read, the sexually awkward are usually the ones who are offended by the game. Also, married couples whose wife have them by a leash.

If anything it's more like Kamiya's fanwank. Theres references to references and nothing but.
