Rewatch of Twin Peaks S3 done. I adore it now. I remember feeling anxious through the initial watch but the second time around I really settled in.

Tom Ellis' hell-raising Lucifer Morningstar is now set to tangle with another troublemaker of Biblical proportions for his fourth season: TV Insider has learned exclusively that Imposters' Inbar Lavi has been cast as Eve. Yes, that Eve.

Described as "the original sinner herself" in the official release, Lavi's take on the leading lady of the Book of Genesis is apparently over her time in the Garden of Eden. "After an eternity with Adam, she’s grown restless in her marriage and longs for a less predictable time when things were exciting. Naughty. Dangerous. She misses her hot and heavy first love...the charming rogue who tempted her so many years ago. That’s right, the devil himself…Lucifer."

Been mainlining The Good Place, and am really enjoying the chemistry among the leads. There are times when I recognize it's just a dumb sitcom, and other times where it offers surprising insight on the human condition.

I actually like Brendan Fraser a lot, but I'm interested in Benji's opinion since my Doom Patrol knowledge is pretty much just "Beast Boy was on it once."

He's doing the voice, since...Robotman. I assume the fact that Crazy Jane is on the show means they're more interested in the Morrison/Way Doom Patrol than the more generic hero team version. It'd certainly be best for the show, and not because I prefer it, but simply because it would differentiate the show from the rest of the hero binge.

How do I get them to pay me to make some shows from their comic properties for this streaming service? I may start with something that looks awfully like The Authority and then Planetary. Or if I have to stay in DC proper, Checkmate! Plus BOOSTER GOLD! Question: Do you need a Blue Beetle killed? I would very much like to start with that if so.

End of an Era:
Quote
The upcoming season of “The Big Bang Theory” will be the last for the Warner Bros.-produced CBS comedy.

In a joint statement, Warner Bros. Television, CBS and Chuck Lorre Productions said, “We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The Big Bang Theory during the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close.
Quote
In a statement Wednesday, Kahl said, “‘The Big Bang Theory’ has been the defining comedy of its generation. All of us at the Network take exceptional pride in this series that uniquely combines creative genius, commercial ratings success, cultural influence and characters who became so popular, they are easily known by just one name. We’re incredibly grateful for our partnership with Warner Bros., Chuck Lorre Productions and a brilliant cast and crew that has made such a ‘big bang’ and lasting legacy on the television landscape.”

It drug out for an hour what was made obvious at the end of the previous episode. It’s saving grace is that it’s Sissy Spacek’s big episode. That’s probably enough for most people, but even her best effort in lifting the shoddy material barely kept me from falling asleep. I may have had a martini and an ativan or two, though.

In good news: boner academy.

Rye and I recently decided to start The Sinner, and its really good. We finished season 1 in a couple of days and am pretty eager to get started on the second.

Really impressive what they were able to accomplish in just 8 episodes. At points its hard to watch because its just so tragic and there are so many "WHAT THE FUCK" moments.

Biel and Pullman do great jobs as their characters.

Finished the first season. Awesome. Great show. I was a big fan of Dexter, too.

I’m really excited to see where it goes. It also felt like the show was getting better and better as it went on. For me, I also liked how Early on, I wasn’t sure what the balance of comedy to drama would be given the pedigree of the talent involved. It kept me wondering where/how far the show would go in certain directions.

Finished The Alienist, and give it one turn-of-the-century thumbs up. Dakota Fanning finally allowed to act in the last episode, absolutely kills it. I feel like Daniel Bruhl is doing a bit of a caricature but still compelling. Luke Evans gets a chance to stretch as well; usually I feel he mainly has to stand around and look handsome. SO HANDSOME.

I feel the same way, and I’m kinda getting suspicious about it. I love how great the show looks, but I’m wondering if they’re padding short episodes with the show’s well known gorgeous indulgent shots.

I don't mind the visuals (though that Nacho pov, you know when... Wasn't great), those sequences like the opening are always great.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I was a bit peeved the sequence they used in the trailer to suggest Mike and Jimmy would do something together was a bait and switch however.
[close]

But yeah there's only so much they can do, I guess. I didn't watch Breaking Bad but I have a rough idea of who is there and where they at. Nacho, Kim and Howard are the only real moving parts there.

Started watching S2 of the Expanse. I like it and the characters are really fleshed out now. It's just a tad weird to have a four man Martian platoon be framed as having that much weight (though I understand they're a convenient shortcut for Mars politics). I was a bit afraid at the super conspiracy angle but I feel they give it high enough stakes to justify its existence.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Honestly I thought it was only a cabal of greedy capitalists and some super weapon and I would have had trouble to swallow that.

I think it did well to establish and flesh out Holden's own psyche (possible sociopath? autistic spectrum?) without weighing down the main plot, but it served the main plot by the end.
