Wow I fell off iOS super hard this last year. I was the biggest fan of the platform back in 2010 - 2013 but considering all the stuff that's gone on in my life in just the year I think I put it aside. Hell I play my 3DS more then I do with my fancy ass iPhone 6 plus.

I need to get back though, anything notable that I missed in the past couple of months? I'm going through and picking up stuff in the Holiday sales.

Bastion’s on many platforms, but it’s 99¢ on iOS right now.

Hero Emblems.

Someone made a puzzle RPG that actually has decent artwork, animations, a story and no IAPs. The first true successor to Puzzle Quest.

A lot of thought and care was put into it and I can't recommend enough if you are into the genre.

I am so-far enjoying the hell out of Terra Battle. I never even started PAD but it looks like it’s got a similar “scoot over” gameplay mechanic in it. Are they the same?

X-Com: Enemy Within was dropped to 4.99. I will double dip.

Yeah, weird; Enemy Within and Enemy Unknown are also on sale on Xbox, but for US$9.99

No, Terra Battle is more of a SRPG game whereas PAD is a puzzle-RPG game. The only thing they share in common is the use of a gacha to acquire better characters. Also Terra Battle has some sort of storyline I skipped through, whereas PAD is just endless dungeons to mow through.

I bought Lara Croft GO, which came out a few days ago, since I liked Hitman GO and this looked nice.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lara-croft-go/id971304016?mt=8

Marathoned it and got all achievements - I enjoyed it. This game is more linear and straightforward, but the gameplay is the same.

Is Hitman Go better than Lara Croft Go, because of the less linear nature?

Hitman GO is just a series of puzzles where you have varying goals to do. Like Angry Birds 3 stars stuff.

Lara Croft GO is a linear series of levels that culminate in an ending, thats it

Capcom has stated that it has no plans to make Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and its Japanese counterpart Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G compatible with the recently released iOS 9 (thanks NeoGAF).

“This application is not compatible with iOS 9 (including the Beta). There are currently no plans to update this application in the future. Please keep this in mind when updating your OS,” reads Freedom Unite’s App Store page.

This means that anyone updating their iOS device with iOS 9, which was released on September 16th, won’t be able to play the game any longer unless they revert to older versions of iOS.

That’s despite them having paid $14.99 for Freedom Unite. And it’s also worth noting that Freedom Unite isn’t even that old – it came out in July 2014.

Capcom launched it in July 2014, and just-barely-September (9th ("iOS 9 on 9/9, get it?" :krusty_hoooo.gif ), so that's maybe 2 months of use, but Capcom could have made an announcement at ANY time during the beta window for iOS 9 to tell users not to update, in advance of the launch. Jesus, that's lame.
