dragon quest 1 is the most basic rpg ever created, you don't even have a party or fight more than 1 enemy at once, so there is literaly no reason to play it other than have a look at how jrpg started

:what

15 bucks is too much for most ios users and DQ is an unknown entity for them. I would charged 5 for it, personally. 15 is pushing it.

Holy.  Shit.  This is exactly what I have been wanting.  Figures I would find out about this after ordering an iPhone 6.  I hope they make these for the new models.  Will totally start playing games on iOS if so.

DQ1 is pretty spotty. Hoping dqIII is in better shape. It's so great playing these games again. IV in particular. I never really get tired of I, as I've been playing repeatedly the past year for Japanese practice. Can't wait for III and V. Goes to show how much I love the whole franchise. With FF, I like every entry, but certainly don't love. With DQ, it's the opposite for me.

IV is fucking beautiful on the iphone. Murders the DS version visually.

Honestly, if it also had a chargeable battery in it, I'd probably drop US$99 on it.

The DS version is small and cramped. The ios version is nice and big and gives off impressionist painting vibes at times. I feel the graphics benefit from the larger screen due to wider range of detail.

So there are now "App Bundles" you can buy - unsure if this is exclusive for iOS8?

Here is a Final Fantasy bundle for $70

Here's a Chaos Rings bundle

Infinity Blade Trilogy - Metal Slug

Or you can do the poverty Oscar select and go for the ever enjoyable Kemco RPG bundle (lol) for $10

I like the idea that S-E thinks someone is going to drop US$70 on the App Store for a few RPGs. I mean, is this the real life? Is this just (final) fantasy?

I've bought a few games for my Kindle, some through Humble Store. But Amazon gives away a free app every day and I've gotten stuff like Radiant Defense and Kingdom Rush through that.

The only one I probably paid full price for is 10,000,000 though.

EDIT: Actually, I've bought a number of the Humble Bundle's that come with Android versions, but I dunno if that really counts.

Rocking a 6 Plus.

This is already far superior a device for playing games. Finally there's a sweet spot between a tiny screen that my thumbs cover up (my iPhone 5) and giant fucking screen that's too heavy to hold (my iPad 3). Can't wait to check out the Metal optimized games.

Yeah, this is another thing about iOS gaming: the idea that you can get punished for updating your game is not a pleasant one.

disappointed that no one told me about portrait mode in ace attorney hd. the sprites look A LOT better in this mode since they're not as big.

when playing it, it has the look and resolution of the ds version, so it doesn't look nearly this big. highly suggested!!!

replaying AA1 on my lunch breaks just shows how bad AA4 and AA5's first case were.

i've been playing it on pc but this shit was clearly intended for mobile (as indicated by the fact that the single player icon is a dude playing on a tablet) so i'm posting it here

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.daysofwonder.smallworld2
https://itunes.apple.com/it/app/small-world-2/id364165557?mt=8

it's a nice strategy game, each turn player pick a combination made up of a random race and a random power tied together and use it to gain territories, there is no actual combat and instead a territory always require 2 unit + 1 extra unit for opposing unit on the field and each territory you gain gives you 1 VP, each race and power comes with a number that indicates how many troops that combo gives and 2 special power depending on the race and power, some abilities gives you more VP if you do certain action (for example orcs gets extra VP when they murder something, which combines well with the pillaging power which also does the same thing, making pillaging orcs a desiderable combination) some abilities makes combat easier (triton for example have a combat bonus when fighting on shore) and some other abilities have more complicated effect (like the sorcerer ability to turn opposing unit into more sorcerer by hypnotizing opposing unit)

now here comes the interessing part, since there is no way to produce more unit, sooner or later you'll come to a point where all your unit are either killed or spread all over the map, at which point you declare that the race is now in decline and abandon them on the map as idle units, while idle they still produce VP but you can't take control them anymore making them easy prey for other opponent, after that you pick another race + power combination and continue with the new race

i really like this idea, not only it's thematicaly interessing as you basicaly watch your empire grows and fall in the span of a few turns, but it also force the player to think of some new plan every 3 turn or so, also each time you skip a combination, you have to pay VP depending on how many combination you skips adding another layer of decisions to the game

OK, so I like Persona 3 and 4 and Neptunia Re;Birth.  Are there any RPGs similar to those games on iOS?  I'm not usually one for Square games, but I was thinking about checking out Chaos Rings or DQ8.

And is it even worth bothering with a controller?  I found a whopping two available at the Apple store -both ridiculously-priced at eighty bucks- and the quality not only seemed questionable, but game support seemed pretty minimal.  :/  Will wait for Mad Catz and Hori's controllers.
