so there is this kemco rpg that just became free to play for some reason

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kemco.hitpoint.mateki&hl=en

i know these games have a bad rep but ehy free stuff to try!

I won't try anything from Kemco after they killed the Batman franchise for several years before it could be rescued by plucky UK studio Rocksteady.

I think I finally hit a paywall in Top Eleven footy manager after 3 months of play.

Almost every game now I get 1/2/3 injuries and the injury times are getting longer. They really want me to fork over money for treatment packs.

First 3 seasons I got maybe an injury 1 every 10 games.

Since this this season started I have constantly had 3/6 people out of my 20 man squad with injuries and red cards.

I'm done.

I honestly find the new art style mixed. I like the bright colors but I think the character designs are a downgrade. It doesn't look like Naora. It still looks real good though and I'm a big fan of the more close up view.

Notice that the currency is new. In CR1 and 2 you have Ohnz (OZ) currency. Here we have ML and gold coins. Definitely seems to be going the way of IAP, but then we don't know if coins factor into customization so let's not be hasty.

Given that this is also releasing on Vita on the same day, there isn't much precedent for SE to fuck this up. Then again, IAP doesn't stop people like Joe and Borys from dling ATB so who knows.

Did they make tweaks to the game that made it that way or was it just always that way?

I've seen that happen with some F2P games I get engrossed in. They bait you in with easy rewards and no paywalls, then slowly pull in the paywalls as the userbase matures. Users are reluctant to quit in digust because they already have the feeling of 'sunk cost' of all the time and effort they put into the account.

I checked the forums and it seems like a common gripe with the game at some point.

Some people say they track if you use treatment packs and then up the injury rate.

Shame it had to end like this.

Dragon Quest IV up tonight. It includes party talk so that's reason enough to grab it because it was taken out of the ds version.

all of these are really fucking good.  sorcery 2 and 80 days are both insanely meaty for what they are.

Hmmm, will check out the other two based on this rec.  Device 6 is my favorite iOS game so far.  Googled those two and 80 days has a nice art style.

And upon looking at my ipad, actually my favorite iOS game is 868-Hack, then Device 6, and then probably Banshee's Last Cry.  Probably will play some more iOS games for the first time in a while on my flight I'm getting on in 2 hours.

http://toucharcade.com/2014/08/07/dragon-quest-iv-review/

Oscar, I agree with your DQIV review almost completely. Though I think 8 has the best cast, 4's is my second favorite. IV is the game  I usually flip flop on when I think of what my favorite DQ is. Also, I'm a big fan of games that use its structure such as Suikoden III and GTAV. Suikoden III especially is heavily influenced by DQIV and you can tell. IMO, it improves on every little thing that game set out to do, though it's not perfect. It's a shame this narrative style isn't more common. But I'm always impressed by how much characterization I take away from DQIV despite the characters being mute. Just one of the most highly inventive and inspiring jrpgs of all time. Complete classic from beginning to end and utterly, ruthlessly ahead of its time.

Does this version include the post game from the DS version?

Shame about the sprites. I felt they look better on DS.

If anything, we probably agree that Torneko is the best Dq character.

so there is this company called gamkin which is MADE BY SQUARE-ENIX,SEGA AND CAPCOM VETERAN (but no mention who these veteran are...) and they are funding a mobile game on indiegogo

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/x-tactics-urban-tactical-rpg

apparently the idea is to have a game that use the gps in your phone to dictate stuff like loot or battle condition and such, it sounds like a decent idea

i like how the first 2 characters scream "JAPAN!" but the fourth one just says "yeah, we watched man in black" :lol

anyway the only name that appear related to this company is a robert gould, but the only thing i could find about him was this

http://jp.linkedin.com/pub/robert-gould/7/64b/782

worked on FF14? no wonder he doesn't want anybody to know :heh

i've been trying to find more games a-la pad to do on my phone but it's all super terrible stuff, like this is the first game that pops out if you ask the android market for F2P role playing game

and you know what? i was impressed because i could control my unit, and my unit had like different skills and it sort of looked like team building was a thing, and i mean that's already kind of silly, those thing should be granted but there are so many thoughtless autobattler on the android market that just having control of your unit sounds like the most amazing thing ever, but even then after a while you just realize that it's all a cover for the usual skinner box and that no matter what i do, everything scales way faster than it's supposed to do and bigger numbers gotten through spending or wasting ungodly amount of time, triumph over anything i can do

the thing that makes me annoyed is that i known there are other good (or at least one that look interessing) F2P games a-la PAD but they are all in japan! i know this isn't the first time i came here and complain about this and that i probably sounds like the guy saying that "shit stinks" while standing near it but i'm sorry,i'm so frustated and  i need to blow some steam up, there are so many games on the android market like the one that i posted above and none of them try to do anything to mix it up or have their own identity! just, "HERE'S THE GACHA, IT SHITS OUT 5 STAR THING IF WE LIKE IT, 5 STARS THING DO THE THING AUTOMATICALY BETTER THAN THE 1 STAR THING, HAVE FUN WATCHING STUFF HAPPENS WITHOUT YOUR INPUT!" jeebus!

this is it, this is an accurate representation of what goes on when you go through the android market looking for anything that involve rpg and/or collectable element
