Had two great strokes of fortune recently. First, a guy I talked to awhile back about starting a band in Daegu turns out to live one subway stop away from me. I went to go jam with him yesterday, and we had a really productive session. We got down to writing some material, and it sounded great. He has all the personnel ready to go, so now all we have to do is get everyone together and start practicing. It's so fucking awesome. Trying to find a drummer, bassist and singer who don't suck and are down to put in the time to start a real band among the expat community is pretty tough, and he's already got these guys lined up. Now it's just plug in and go. I'll need to buy a better amp and possibly upgrade my guitar, but I'm much more comfortable doing that knowing that we've got an actual band.
Second, the music teacher at my school agreed to let me use the piano in the music room. I went in today and practiced for about an hour. It's awesome. I found free sheet music for Tiny Dancer online and learned how to play some of it.
