I want to hear Nas totally change his shit up. I want to hear him on some Doom beats. :'(
I want Nas to go back to being Nasty Nas, which isn't happening.

When I saw him perform last year he said his next album would be a return of the Escobar side of Nas, which kind of made me roll my eyes because fuck doing coke rap bullshit in 2010. And he's too old and wisened to go back to Nasty Nas. He should just try to be badass Nas. :bow

I'd be down for Escobar Nas if it meant a return to vicious internal rhyming Nas. Lots of his newer stuff features odd, stumbling rhyming patterns that don't impress. People hate on IWW but it's one of the best mafioso rap albums ever. I'm a sucker for that type of coke rap. Really liked Cuban Linx II last year, and even liked some of Rick Ross' album. If you can create an interesting soundtrack to your own take on Scarface or Goodfellas or whatever, the rise and the fall, ups and downs etc - count me in.

Coke rap is so boring to me. It's why I've never been able to get into Clipse, and why I find most of Raekwon's stuff boring (lyric-wise, the beats and Ghostface's craziness are what really made both Cuban Linx albums). Especially if you sample Scarface for the 1,000,000th time, you're just begging for me to skip the track. :punch

Fuck the haters :punch

I may have to agree with this.
IYKYK

Stillmatic is half great tracks and half silly filler bullshit leftovers from the Nastradamus era. God's Son has it's highs and lows but the high's are fucking great (Get Down, Made You Look, I Can, Revolutionary Warfare, Heaven) and the lows are merely mediocre/okay tracks that could have been better. Also the production blows most of Stillmatic out of the water, aside from the two or three Premiere tracks.

I love it, especially the more vivid, imaginative, or plain ridiculous. Getting busted as a CO was the best thing to happen to Rick Ross. He was like fuck it, no need to bullshit anymore: imma just release the most ridiculous coke rap throwback album in years

Clipse eh. I just don't like The Neptunes, and the Clipse has some pretty bad punchlines. That being said, HHNF has some great tracks. It's inconsistent though, hence my confusion as to why it has become a classic in the eyes of hip hop heads and hipsters everywhere.
010

Haha yeah, Clipse have always struck me as wink wink nudge nudge punchline rappers, except most of their punchlines just kind of make you go "...Okay?"

Like Lil' Wayne :yuck

Stillmatci is nigh unlistenable these days to me. I'm not sure if it's cuz of filler or because I have listened to that album too much to count.

What's filler? Rewind? 2nd Childhood? The Flyest? Ether? Those are filler? Please tell me you're joking? Or the ones that aren't bolded?

So why is Ayn Rand so popular now?

Her line of thinking holds a lot of sway over greedy asshole Republicans, especially when the Republican party has made being a greedy, hateful piece of shit come back in vogue. They get to live out their LOLZ KEEP YA GUBMENT TO YASELF fantasies through her ridiculous, awful books.

Ayn Rand seems to be big with college kids, but I think it's always been that way, no? A lot of the ideas she proposes seem RADICAL and FRESH when you're not particularly bright or know much about politics, which (speaking as a college student) seems to define the majority of my peers. :-\

But I know her books are also coming back in vogue with Republitards and Wall Street types, because they basically say "LOL TRYING TO BE A DECENT PERSON GOES AGAINST OUR NATURE, LOOK HOW AWESOME THE WORLD WOULD BE IF WE STOPPED CARING ABOUT ANYONE BUT OURSELVES AND OUR OWN INTERESTS". Which fits perfectly with their line of thinking.

I remember seeing some sort of alternate ending to Atlus Shrugged where the industry titans had created their utopia. At their first feast to celebrate it the head guy gives some drawn out speech about how they escaped government oppression and the filthy workers. He claps signaling to have the food brought in but it doesn't come and there is no food. They all had gasps on their faces.

The last pane shows them working in a field and one of them says something like, "I didn't sign on for this".

Anyone have a link to that?

Don't know. That is why I was asking.

I like to think of Rand is the id ran wild. People who gravitate towards her secretly hate the fact that their "hard earned" money goes to improving their neighborhoods and funding some kid's education, and would rather be able to spend it on all the guns and ammo they want, since you never can be too careful. :usacry

The world would be a better place if no one had guns. If they were properly regulated, it would still be pretty cool. :bow

Yup, I guess that makes me some douchey college dickhole. Let me adjust my non-prescription glasses before writing my treatise on why guns totally suck, brosef.

you have proved yourself to fit that stereotype, the stereotype you just slapped on me was just pulled out of your ass, although i will admit that it fits my cousin, his entire family just took a concealed carry course together and they all voted for ron paul

I thought we established that all "typical college cunts" love Ayn Rand, though. :spin

I don't get why Ayn Rand appeals to college kids, but I've only read the start of The Fountainhead.

We spent the few posts discussing how the majority of Ayn Rand's fans seem to be confused college students, yet I am a college student who thinks her books are mad wack, yo. It was never implied that you are one of these typical college cunts, drew, nor that you like Ayn Rand, simply that stereotyping me as a typical college cunt was an intellectual shortcut to actually having an engaging discussion.

But then again you can't bother to read, and this is an internet forum. Intelligent discussion is DOA. :tbslol
