Really don't like Schism or Jason Arron's work on the X-men in general. Just couldn't buy Wolvie and Cyclops fighting, nor can i buy the direction Wolvie has been going.
why dont you buy the wolverine going peacemaker thing?
I'm no expert, but I'll try.
To me Wolvierine should be right with Scott on training the young X-men to defend themselves. I can buy Wolvie caring for the young kids, because he's always had a soft spot. He's a mentor, the wise more street smart then book smart gruff man is his character. I buy him as a man that's trying to be a noble person, but at the end of the day he knows what has to be done and is willing to get his hands dirty. He rather get his hands dirty then anyone else in his family. So in a sense I can understand why Wolvie would not want the young X-men to fight ,because thats what he and other X-men are supposed to be doing. But to me, it seems like he would understand whats at stake and these kids need to defend himself.
Schism seemed to be triggered around Scott using the kids to fight the Sentinel and Oya killing the attacking Hellfire people. The thing about Oya is to me, I wouldn't really see Wolvie being truly upset with it. She did what she had to do. I kind of found the whole thing contrived. I actually think Oya is a really stupid character now, which is a shame because at first I liked her. She seems to be written like she's more of an idiot then just aloof and blunt. Wolvie seemed to mostly be upset that Oya wasn't fazed by what she did, which I guess is cause for concern, but I don't see how that's really the X-men's fault. Scott is trying to protect whats left of humanity and it's really shown that he should and if that means becoming more militant then that's what has to be done. X-Force has shown that Wolvie understands that. While he didn't like what Fantomex did when he shot kid Apocalypse, he didn't remove Fantomex. No, he understood why he did it. In the end I would have thought Wolvie would have stayed with the X-men. it's his family and that's whats most important to him.
As for the Sentinel attack. To me it was again "well desperate times call for desperate measures". This is the X-men, teens being in dangerous stuff comes with the territory. It's like you've been around so long, Wolvie why does it bother you now? Didn't you bring a teenage girl with you to Genosha, were they were enslaving mutants?
But you know, then comes Avengers Vs X-men and well All-New X-men. In a lot of the material, how much he hates Cyclops is played up. I don't get it. I thought he respected Cyclops, well it seems Bendis doesn't think so. In ReGenesis it was seen what was going on was just a disagreement and both sides peacefully went and carried out their agenda. In All New you have teen Jean reading Wolvie's mind and saying "oh he hates you Cyclops and wants to kill you". In AvX you have Wolvie mentioning how crazy and dangerous Cyclops is. It was just a disagreement about how the X-men were going. It's like I just don't get it.
They have worked side by side, they are almost great partners. I think I would say they are almost friends. I mean Wolvie is basicly the first one to pick up on the fact that after returning, Cyclops is not the straight shooter he has always been. He knows Cyclops very well and completly trusts him. I just don't think thier split should portrayed as so hate filled, which in some comics it is.
But I don't know. I do know I don't like Wolvierne and the X-men as a comic. Wolvie is'nt a leader to me. He's a trusted soldier and adviser. The ultimate support dude. Honestly, I really liked the early Carey run with Rogue as a leader, but that has nothing to do with what I'm saying. But I don't like this comic, because the tone just isn't for me. It's just a little too wacky.
But I also don't like the characters.
Quire-I really liked him in New X-men. He was the smart nerd lashing out at authority. Right in some ways, but still so young that he couldnt get the whole picture. It was a good storyline. Now he's just an annoying brat. I just don't like what Arron has done with him.
Oya-At first I kind of liked her, but she just seems so dumb.
Genisis-Eh he seems pretty one note. I get it your not very confident and you could go nuclear.
