Unlike ACE 1-3, there's no mention of FROM Software anywhere on the box art or in the manual...

Haven't had a chance to play this yet. Just got done painting and now going out for a date with Mrs. Gundam.

Don't worry, you'll probably still enjoy it.  I'm kind of enjoying it and just being angsty because I was looking forward to it so much and the first impression it gives is unpolished and slightly frustrating.  Also dying makes me mad.

Maybe I deserve that for starting with a bad show like SEED Destiny  :'(

hate this game

it's one of those real shitty games you put up with for the fanservice, but I dunno, I think this one may be even too shitty for me.

Until I see the staff credits I'm not going to believe this was done by the From Software team that made ACE1-3.

Either the game is more fun on easy because enemies take less damage and units level faster or Destiny just sucks and Geass is great, but I'm having a lot of fun playing the Geass route now.

My overall feeling after playing all night is that the game is probably made by the ACE team and is a good game about on the level of ACE1-3 although some of the changes are for the worse.

...but seed sucks.  Like really really really sucks and makes you hate the game.  The seed pilots are super gimped.  ACE:R basically has no sense of balancing all the playable units to make them good.  Instead some are amazing and some are terrible.  Seed Destiny falls in the latter.

So apparently:

-game was supposed to come out in 2009 but someone pushed really hard for Macross F to be in so it was delayed until 2010 to add it
-Macross F is the only series in the game that gets its full anime storyline covered
-Macross F cutscenes are the only non-skippable cutscenes in the game (but they are a good chunk of the cutscenes including the longest ones)

uhhh...wat

new SRW is SRW L for DS and it's horrrible.  Sprite-rip fest from the other 2 DS games.

Series included:
SEED (W)
SEED D (K)
Gundam Wing Endless Waltz (W)
Combattler V (don't remember if was in W)
Voltes V (don't remember if was in W)
Mazinkaiser OAV1/2 (W)
Godanner S1/2 (K)
Gaiking 2000 (K)
Jeeg 2000 (K)

new series for SRW:
Mac F (blah)
Dancougar Nova
Ikusa 1 & 3 (? never heard of it)
Steel Linebarrels (lol)
Eva 1.11 (cool until you realize 1.0 only means only what appears in the first 6eps of Eva)

With the huge letdown of L and no Z2 in site anytime soon, and after finishing up ACE:R which put me in the Macross mood, I'm finally gonna play SRW@3 to give me that good robot feel I've been missing.

Picked Kuzuha/Bullet route since I did their route in @2 three or four years ago and did their @1 story in OGs.  Played the first couple of missions.  So awesome.  Awesome BGMs, awesome animations, awesome cast from the start.  Considering it's 60 maps long plus TONS of branches (and I like to save at branch points and do both ways to get all the plot :P), this will probably be my main game I'm playing through the fall.  But honestly, 2-3 months of HQ robot action, I think that's about as good as it gets.

Now I just need to read up on the @1-@2 storyline because it's been so long I don't remember much at all.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I'll probably play L in late November ;_;
I'm a sucker for portable SRW because it's easy to play while on a treadmill

So they showed a trailer for L at Hobby Fest and probably a trailer for the new OG anime.

Should be online soon.

@3 is pretty great so far.  I'm doing 4 parallel saves at least for the start to see all the maps.  Done the first few maps for Kuzuha & Kanekomech paths.  Kanekomech storyline is actually pretty cool.  Gonna do the other 2 and see how they are.  Mr. Gundam, did you ever play through alpha 3?

What's new?
Producer guy: We added cell-shading to the engine.
I see you've changed the camera too
Producer guy:  Yeah, when you had the old pulled back angle, you couldn't really tell that we added cell-shading so we pulled the camera up close so you can really see the cell shading now.

I only played the first DW Gundam game.  For anime games like this, I usually pick up every other game in the series.

I thought Nu was in all of them?

If not then yeah he was in #2.

I honestly can't remember the games that well.  They were fun, repetitive, #2 had a lame unified story mode instead of individual storylines which were great in #1 and neither had achievements on PS3.  That's about all I remember.

But I liked them enough.  Put like 70-80 hours in GM1 and 30 hours in GM2, so since GM3 will probably more of the same and I enjoy it I'll drop the full $90 day 1.  Especially because it's the first game I can cause chaos as Setsuna and slice shit up (DS game doesn't count).

The first game had an amazing story if only for the interactions between characters.  Domon vs Loran (or Kamille?) was the best.  Domon puts those damn pacifists in their place  :punch

Yeah, that's why GM2 pissed me off.  It ditched all the cross-over matchups and instead just did scenes from each show with mostly their cast.  I really hope GM3 goes back to GM1's storyline style.  The fanservice was half the fun of the game.

Basically GM1 was silly light-hearted fanservice for Gundam fans.

GM2 was serious drama/action story scenes.

So it looks like console SRW didn't get announced :(

I think they're going to announce it in December.  That's when the next wave of big JP game announcements come out around the jump fiesta (for instance when Tales PS3 is getting revealed).  Since the 15th anniversary of SRW isn't until April 2011, December makes more sense I guess.  Plus L will have come out and been done with and OG TV anime will be done or mid-airing.

I really wanted to see some high-res sprite action this TGS.  But I guess there's been enough good game announcements already that I can wait until December :X

Cell-shading looks great on some of the units.  Even on the ones where it doesn't stick out, the colors are better.  Unicorn looks super hot.

Gameplay looks the same, but who cares, it works don't fix it if it ain't broken.  Just hope the story mode/cutscenes are good!

I'm hearing it has no story and is just a mission mode of tons of missions and tons of units.

If it plays like ACE3 then it might be fun.
If it plays like ACE:R..... :\

Will probably wait for JP user reviews and not get it day 1.  After ACE:R I can't trust them with that day 1 money.

Musou 3 box looks good enough.  They're really selling this game on the cell-shading and going by the results that's what they should be doing.

ACE Portable box looks reallllly amateur with that background.

Yeah, I absolutely love the GM3 box art. The ACE P fits the mold of all previous ACE covers, but the Tron-esque background is boring.
