I'll still import it but this is disheartening.  I want to just say "it's a next gen ACE" and yet this seems like such a minor offering compared to any previous game in the series.

No Gurren Lagann kinda boggles the mind.  It's the perfect super robot to take the place of something like Shin Getter.

I picked up the new issue of Famitsu this morning while heading out to Kamakura and Enoshima. The scans don't do it justice. Game looks good.

Arbalest looks confined to the ground based on the in-game shots.

Konami probably still owns the game rights and Bandai-Namco wasn't willing to pay what they wanted.

Sounds like the gameplay is quite similar to ZoE? Would definitely be keen to try ACE:R when it comes out. Probably not going to be an NA release though huh?

It's a little bit like ZoE, but not really. No chance in hell this is getting released outside Asia, but since the PS3 is region free it doesn't matter.

Too much scan overload.  Can't tell what's going on.

What are the selling points of this new game?
-better graphics (models still look PS2-level from that first scan though...)
-4 vs 4 instead of 2 vs 2?
-some kind of card based & phone crap that we'll never get on the home version so who cares?
-???

Stupid construction schedule. I got cool Baird and Hitachino pint glasses while I was in Japan, but a Gundam-themed one would've been awesome.

PCB and Release Date:

Release Date: Late September 2010 for New Type Campaign Set, October 2010 for DX Set, December 2010 for SD Set

More Details:

- An Internet connection to Namco's ALL.net server is required at all times. The game WILL NOT BOOT without an Internet connection.

- Namco will bill each arcade 9 yen (tax not included) per play on EVERY machine. This INCLUDES Free Play / Service credits.

- You must notify Namco to pay any outstanding bills before reselling any units.

----------------

Thoughts:

- If there was any doubt before, there shouldn't be now. This game will NOT get a PS3 console port. Ever. Erase this desire from your thoughts. If you want to play the game, it will have to be in a Japanese arcade, period.

- Again, see: Gundam vs Gundam AND Gundam vs Gundam Next, both based on PS2 hardware, which never got a PS2 release due to the high price for arcades. The last Gundam arcade game to get a true port was Rengou vs Zaft II, which was before both titles in the Gundam vs Gundam series. Extreme VS is also guaranteed to be arcade-exclusive.

- I believe this game makes history as the most expensive non-medal/pachinko/pachislot title for Japanese arcades EVER.

- No other arcade video title charges per play, although I believe other online/networked titles such as Border Break charge a flat monthly fee for network play (correct me if anyone knows otherwise). This will be the first time that a company charges the operator per play in addition to having to pay the full price of the machine/kit.

- This model may change the business model for the future of Japanese arcades, further segregating the smaller mom-and-pop arcades from the larger, corporate arcades (like the Sega, Taito and Namco-owned arcades). This has been a trend since 2008 since titles like Street Fighter 4 and Gundam vs Gundam Next, that a mom-and-pop arcade might purchase, were unexpectedly announced with higher prices than many locations could not afford or make a reasonable return on investment.

GvG / GvG Next ports don't count because they were on portables?  uh huh.

Yeah, I bet we'll see a PS3 port about a year after the arcade version releases. My "holy crap" comment was more about the pricing structure for the arcade iteration.

I don't think there will be a PS3 port for a while based on both the pricing model and how they said they'll update and balance it via the internet connection.

I dunno.  People say this about every big arcade release these days.
10 years since "They can't release a SF3 port because it will kill the arcade sales and the arcade units are so expensive!" and it's the same old thing over and over again.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but as long as there has been money in the home port, there's been a home port of all these games each time.  I'm sure if VF5 had actually sold well on PS3/X360 we'd have had VF5R ages ago.  At this point the porting costs are probably higher than expected profit on that game.  Tekken 6 was Namco being stupid and waiting until the final arcade version was done to port it.  Hell even the Gundam POD game got ported...to psp.

I like to imagine Sega held off on a VF5R port because they were already planning Final Showdown and didn't want a repeat of VF4 Final Tuned. VF5FS console port announced at E3/TGS, believe.

At any rate, I'd buy a GvG for PS3 since GvG NEXT+ on PSP is pretty awesome. I'm sure they'll port this new one eventually.

Crossbone X3 looks sweet, Dominator looks great.  The Geass unit looks kind of really low detail but I'm guessing the scan is just blurry.

When did Amuro ever pilot the Zeta Gundam?

He piloted his own personal customized Zeta in the Green Divers CGI movie experience.  And fought against a customized black Asshimar, as I recall.

He also piloted the Zeta Plus, which is my personal favorite of all the Zeta variants.

Looking at my account history with NCSX, I paid $81 for Gundam 0081. :'(

Yes Asia was $87.99, but they take forever to ship anything out. Play Asia still hasn't put it up for preorder, but their shipping isn't fast, and with NCSX it will ship on Thursday and I'll have it on Saturday. It and Power Pro 2010 are the only games I'm getting all summer, so I don't mind the outrageous prices as much.

I already miss Japan and buying games directly. :'(

STUPID AMAZON JAPAN TORMENTING US WITH YOUR AWESOME PRICES BUT OH "WE'RE SORRY, THIS PRODUCT CANNOT BE SHIPPED OUTSIDE JAPAN" FUCK YOU. :maf

Almost all my imports in 2010 have been DS/PSP games, so about $56 each, which at least seems semi-reasonable for big games that are console quality.

So yeah, $92 hurts >_<
I'd guessing this will go down as one of the top5 most expensive non-LE games I've ever bought.

Until the yen/dollar ratio fixes itself I'm actually glad most of Japanese development has moved to the PSP/DS.  I don't think I could keep importing if all the games were PS3/X360 and $92 each to import.

I'm also waiting for the US versions more these days since after Amazon sales they are $40-50 or less.  Will live with the crappy dub and get Basara 3 in the US for $40 instead of $90 import.

$40 is an awesome price, but no way am I waiting on Basara 3.  Been heavily anticipating that game for a long, long time, and I am not willing to live with a crappy dub.  :p

$92 with USPS shipping for ACE3 is insane, however.  You could just wait for Play-Asia to open up pre-orders and get it with UPS shipping for that price...it would be cheaper and you'd get it on the day NCS gets theirs.

One game I am passing on right now is Deathsmiles II.  $70 just seems like too much.

Is it even sure that Basara 3 won't include Japanese audio as well?
