At least Sony tries to make the games look better with each installment. Can't say the same towards Nintendo and Bungie. They basically also do the same shit again, minus enhancing the graphics to the max.
Bullshit, H3 had the best lighting engine this gen. Underwhelming in everything else tho.
I keep hearing this, and I don't get it. The game looks mostly flat. I don't know what exactly people mean by "lighting" these days, but if the end result is excessive bloom and flat presentation, and the lack of AA is supposedly a direct result of the lighting engine, then it can't be that grand.
Good shot showing what I'm talking about:

Like you see on the right how you get this completely whited out triangle of light and on the rock on the lower left, the bloom doesn't destroy the texture quality.
While you may not care for the realistic lighting over a stylized approach, it is the most mathematically correct this gen. It's not like other games where the HDR makes the whole screen lighter or darker (similar to a video camera). This actually works to give a greater range of colors.
Obviously, most gamers don't care about that as much as AA, framerate, etc but apparently Halo:Reach found a lot less costly method of getting the same effect. I'm waiting and seeing on that.
