MadWorld isn't bad, it's horrible. The only good Platinum game so far is Bayonetta. Vanqish seems to be another miss. Overrated developer for sure.

Vanquish is such a reality check. Let Kamiya do every game from them. Mikami should stick to slow horror. The EA game looks way more cooler than this.

Mikami is better than Kamiya unless Kamiya is making a sequel to a Mikami game.

Vanquish is plastered on tons of sites - even Destructoid. Of course they are gonna praise it. Gimme yummy ad money

People are only playing this game -because- of bayonetta. Once they see this they're gonna be like , what is this fucking shit. Fuck Platinum. I wont play anything from them.

Mikami makes all the awesome dreams you had where you wake up and need to change the sheets into video games...except the one where you and Sonic danced in the moonlight, get it on every night, and everyone felt warm and bright.

Just finished act 1 on this. Game's amazing. Super fast paced with zero down time (aside from Gears-style sections that hide loading, ie. Sam walks slowly for a while as he talks to the girl on his headset), just what I wanted.

Gotta stop playing and get back to Darksiders though. I want to have that finished by Thursday morning :'(

The dancing robot part was very cute, very good music. Too bad I had to obliterate them with the Life Gun.

I really liked this game. Some of the later enemies/ mini bosses in the game are awesome like the Crystal Viper or the one made robot parts  but I'd say the final boss fight was my favorite. The music is good too but you can't hear it unless you turn down the sound effects, very much looking forward to the full OST.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I love how fast your boost gets during the 2nd phase of the final fight, it's a shame you can't go through the entire game like that.

Hope it sells well.

only played up to the 6th part of act 1 and the game is awesome

I'm playing on hard and have died only because I've been going for some achievements on the way, otherwise it doesn't feel much different from the normal demos.

and dying takes away one level up a weapon upgrade, right? don't know if you had a limited number of cigarettes in the demo either.

I'm pretty sure dying doesn't take away weapon upgrades, though it could be different on hard. There were times I would get an upgrade, die , do same exact thing and the upgrade didn't show up again. So I'm assuming it kept.

I'm playing on normal my first time through, going to try to get the achievement for beating it without dying. So far so good, but who knows what's ahead. God Hard should be fun once I work my way up.

(you can unlock God Hard ASAP if you rotate the right analog stick 20 times on the title screen, btw)

how do you get that other robot to stand up in 2.3?

I'm pretty sure dying doesn't take away weapon upgrades, though it could be different on hard. There were times I would get an upgrade, die , do same exact thing and the upgrade didn't show up again. So I'm assuming it kept.

at least on hard it seems too.  from what I understand it works like this:

upgrading a weapon is either by collecting one of those green upgrade cubes
or there is another bar that fills up every time you collect a weapon you already have that has full ammo.  When that gets to three, the weapon upgrades once.

when you die, you drop down one level for a weapon upgrade.

I only have the assault rifle at max for now.

I blew up its two arms and some random ass QTE occured placing me back up on the upper level. WUT

There's ammo everywhere (for the common guns anyway). Open crates, heal fallen team mates, in canisters around the map, picking up upgrades restores your ammo to max, etc. Haven't had a problem with that.

It didn't happen to me in the game, but on that first boss fight against the huge mech, I ran out of ammo in the demo version, and there was NOTHING left to reload with.  When I got to that point in the retail release it wasn't a problem though.  I used pretty much all the heavy machine gun ammo and some of the assault rifle ammo and took it down pretty easily.

wait, junpei is right.  I checked the manual and weapons don't downgrade if you're playing below normal.

I hope weapons keep upgraded when I play it a second time or in the challenge mode.  Shotgun kicks so much ass once the fire rate is at max.

and so far the trophies/achievement seem easy.  Only thing that might be a pain is finding those little statues.

wait, escort mission? is that after Act 3?

Yeah, no idea what demi's talking about. I'm on 3-4 right now and haven't played any escort missions ???

I'm usually rolling with the heavy machine gun, assault rifle, and shotgun/rocket. LFE gun seems like it has its uses since it sends the big guys flying and knocks them over. Disc launcher seems kinda shitty, but it does kill the grunts in 1 headshot and that's all I really used it on. Laser rifle is worthless as far as I can tell.

I think the LFE is to give you space.  Like you said, it knocks enemies back and has a huge blast.  The melee attack also seems to send enemies away.

Disc launcher is a shitty gun, but the melee attack takes up ammo instead of making you overheat.  I'll probably use that for the 100 melee kill one.

Laser rifle...yeah, I don't know what the melee, but as a gun it sucks.  It is one of the only trophies I don't have yet (that aren't about beating the game).

The other trophy I have trouble with is where you have to knock off that one enemies arms and legs, then melee it.  It dies before I can even knock off the limbs.

The part with the Jellyfish enemies

wait, from that dark area early on?

You have like an hour to take them out before they get near the vehicle.  I played on hard and the only damage the vehicle took was from those little spider bots and it was like one or two percent each time.

I mean, you're literally in a tunnel and all the enemies come at you from one direction.  The tunnel is dark and the they glow bright blue to show they're coming from a mile away.  It didn't even get to the point where I had to use grenades or melee because they moved so slow.

You have to protect the car. It's an escort mission.

I know you guys want to rabidly TRY to defend it (since apparently escort is cool now), but no. It's an escort, and doesnt belong. The same applies to that dumbass child mission in Bayonetta.

I didn't even know that was an escort tbh. I just killed all of the enemies in front of me and kept going forward.

Now the child mission in Bayonetta is an escort, and that mission does suck. There's three bad levels in the game: space harrier, hang-on, and protecting cereza.

Why can you only upgrade guns when ammo is full? This completely hinders my need to even use the other guns. I'm afraid to use them for fear of coming across another gun, only to find I can't upgrade because I fired 5 bullets.

there are upgrade cubes that take your gun up a level

also, if there is different type of gun around, you can make it work.  Say you have AR, HMG, Shotgun and there is a disk launcher on the ground.  If you want to upgrade the AR, swap it for the disk launcher, swap the disk launcher for the new AR, then pick up the AR you just dropped.

My AR and Shotgun are maxed. Heavy machinegun is one rank away from max because it's the only one I throw away when I find a special weapon.

Yeah, I clearly know about the cubes and swapping guns. The rate of the cubes is sparingly, however. I can't rely on cubes dropping. So I'm forced to rely on just one gun and hope I come across others on my equipment (in this case, Rocket + HMG)

Does heavy machinegun get much better as you upgrade?

I mean, AR at max is as powerful as the MG, but it has a much faster firing rate and is super accurate.  I have AR and Shotgun maxed too and now I'm going for the rocket launcher.

The HMG gets much stronger but its aim still sucks from far. AR is too weak for the bigger enemies imo. I rather risk getting close with the shotgun or HMG than spend twice as much time trying to kill them with the AR.

The assault rifle is the only weapon I've been focusing on upgrading since it's suitable for every situation basically. I haven't worried about upgrading my other weapons much at all; my MG is like level 6, my rockets are 3, and my shotgun is 2. Everything else is still level 1.
