Art games have their place.  :ufup :trash

Only art game worth a damn is Killer 7, as it is an actual work of art - rather than neckbeard JO poetic allegory about their failed relationship with some monster bitch or whatever

That's pretty much what Rust is about, though: nudity and betrayal.

Go after pigs, not deer. Pigs are slow enough that you can bash them repeatedly until they die.

Yeah, they do.  And a lot of them have already figured out how to game the system. We're going to talk about this subgenre of video games (DayZ, 7 Days to Die, Rust) on the next Cruncheons.  I call them Sociopath Simulators.

At least 3/4 of the people who play these games are the kids who looked at pictures of guns on the school computers during lunch in high school.

http://kotaku.com/5922155/sega-shuts-down-european-and-australian-offices-to-focus-on-digital

Quote
Sega first appeared to be running into trouble earlier this year. Sega of America faced layoffs, though not a total shut-down, as in the face of large losses the studio condensed its efforts onto four core series.

While Sega of America is still in operation with its reduced staff, other Sega offices worldwide are proving not to be so lucky. The company is outright closing its offices in much of Europe (France, Germany, Spain, and Benelux) as well as in Australia. A variety of other companies will be handling the distribution of Sega games in Australia and Europe going forward.

In a press release, Jurgen Post, chief operating officer of Sega Europe, reiterated Sega's commitment to four—and only four— game franchises, as first announced in March: Sonic the Hedgehog, Football Manager, Total War, and Aliens. Speaking with GamesIndustry International, he added, "It's a focus on those four core IP, and in addition to that we'll have digital. And digital still means 50 - 75 releases every year, so that's still a big number."

In the end, Post revealed that Sega is caught in the middle of the same kinds of console-digital-mobile transition that is currently causing change all over the game industry. While the games are ever more popular, in many ways, they're harder to make. He concluded: "It's still a fantastic business, because if you combine everything it's massive and it's growing. But we had to make the changes we are making right now, in order to be better prepared for the future."

Definitely sounds like SEGA is prepping a new console!

It does a good job of illustrating his point that the company is in nowhere near financial shape to be launching hardware.  Well, Sammy is, but they're not going to let SEGA run wild like that.
I'm already at peace over Sega's glory days being behind them.

Insane which way? Just system wars, or because a gussied up port doesn't manage 60fps? I can kinda understand the latter.

I found an empty Rust server so I could practice up on the survival part of it without a bunch of armchair hillbillies ganking me every five seconds. After three hours of that I can sort of see why people turn into degenerates. There's just not much to the crafting part of it. It's not much of a game, really. Then I jumped onto a populated server of about 50 people and walked around for over half an hour without seeing a single wood pile, pig, rock, etc. Ended up almost starving to death before I disconnected. I guess resources only spawn in certain areas, and those are the areas most people build homes so they can hoard it all?

Anyway, that was boring as hell. Steam tells me I've played about 6 hours total. That's probably off by a bit, but in any event I think I've had enough. No real goals, crafting is barebones, so in the end there's nothing left to do but fuck with other people. On the Steam store page description the devs don't seem to even have a clue what it is or what it's going to be (in other words they don't appear to have a goal other than collecting up $20 bills), so I'm not sure it's ever going to turn into an actual game at any point.

Fucking with people is the game, no? It sounds like the next stuff they're adding is all related to that, i.e. traps and such, so you don't have to build gigantic towers to defend your possessions.
Did you listen to the latest Rebel.FM? Shawn Elliot had a guest spot and talked about Rust for most of the podcast. Funny stuff.

Is there any possibility of NBA street being revived?
NBA Street Vol. 2 was the shit. You had Pete Rock and CL Smooth plus all these NBA legends and an awesome create a player mode. I miss it dearly  :'(
There is a NBA Street Online (maybe two) for Korea/China that's been out for a while. I don't recall if it was based off the vastly superior Vol. 2 though.

Vol. 2 has been updated by a couple guys. The GameCube version through Dolphin:

Fifa street was a bomb iirc but you'd have to ask Oscar. Nba street volume 3 killed the series good.
V3 was a mistake in lots of ways, but don't forget NBA Street Homecourt for 360/PS3.

with MH4 not coming into 2014 what's else there is for 3DS so far in this year that we know is coming? game center cx 3 looks cool but it's certainly not coming to the west, yoshi island and kirby looks boring as fuck... looking at gamefaqs release date list that leaves the 5th layton game and that conception game atlus is bringing... with no 3DS game announced at last year e3 and nintendo having already done his usual pokemon/animal crossing/mario kart dance this thing is looking pretty anemic

maybe sega could bring that hero bank? but it looks japanese as fuck

i guess there is also that one piece rpg that's already released in europe

and uh... maybe nintendo will finaly release smash bros in this year? oh yeah i guess there is umihara too and atlus maybe bringing that persona spinoff in time since they were pretty fast with the EO1 remake

by the way the last batch of game announced in game center cx 3 looks pretty cool there is a shooter,a zelda clone and a full fledged 16 bit rpg

Classic double standard from gaf. They praise the sales of skyrim despite being a bug-ridden game and even broken on ps3. Yet BF4 gets all the crap for basically the same thing. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=758570

that's because you're silly for buying skyrim on ps3 due to bethesda's past ps3 record, whereas bf4 was released for much hyped next gen systems. If you're buying Skyrim on fucking ps3 that's your own damn fault. But there was an expectation that BF4 be handled well on ps4. This isn't a double standard, it's just you purchasing a Bethesda game on ps3 despite Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout NV being absolutely buggy messes on ps3 hardware.

To be fair to people who bought Skyrim PS3, a Bethesda dude flat-out lied and said the PS3 version was on par, and none of the reviews said otherwise since Bethesda only provided the 360 version to the press along with the same lie, presumably.

The argument can be made that you shouldn't have believed anyone involved, but I don't think people who believed the deliberate bullshit Beth put out there were being unreasonable.

I still remember when they were pushing that the engine was different and then people realized it was still running on that busted ass piece of shit  :lol :lol
