Been watching this Let's Play of Dark Souls by a chick named "Kay"

It's probably one of the best Let's Plays I've seen. She's incredibly attentive. Reads item descriptions, is aware of her surroundings, quickly picks up concepts and mechanics. It's just really interesting to watch a person play Dark Souls the way Dark Souls was meant to be played. She even almost found Snuggly the Crow when she left Undead Asylum because she was exploring!

maybe it's because I never got into crafting new weapons in the other yakuza games, but the demo seemed goofier with giant glowing swords that drain life, flaming katanas, and pulling a giant cannon/mortar out of kazuma's ass.

Yeah, the JP store is freezing for me, too. Fortunately I can access it on my iPhone and the downloads start up just fine.

I would've had big trouble had I not just finished the last two english yakuza games. otherwise I'm finding it harder to intuit my way through japanese games. there's one moment in the demo where there's no waypoint, only the hint on where to go next is on the start screen. ended up running around until something triggered.

and yeah, the japanese playstation store is somehow worse than the american one. it gradually slows down to a freeze after 5 minutes.

I managed to dl the demo by hitting the what's new tab and then going to the ryu ga gotoku ishin vita page that was highlighted - why wasn't the ps3 version advertised as well? Who cares about vita? and had to go to related pages to dl the demo.

Yah, there's a part where there's not a blip and luckily I can read what he says to himself when he gives the hint as to where you should go next.

Great, all the games I pick up for $20 2 years later and never play get better PC ports

Still, cell-shading games like this should look gorgeous on PC with AA and no tearing. Might double dip and hold off on playing the PS3 version any further (played like an hour). Would like more PC versions of Japanese games for sure though. Like Bayonetta would be nice once my X360 dies eventually.

I buy old PC games for $5 every Steam sale. Right now I'm waiting for Enslaved, Deadly Premonition, Dishonored, The Darkness II, Singularity, Viking: Battle for Asgard, and a few other old console games to reach that magical threshold.

So with the news of Sony Santa Monica team losing their jobs, I have to say it's pretty depressing all around. I can't even imagine how pissed off I'd be if a game I'd been working on for 3-4 years gets cancelled before it's ever even publicly shown and announced. All that work down the drain. Don't know how these guys and gals stay in the industry after stuff like that (and it happens way too frequently it seems) :'(
