Just because something has "lots of different components" doesn't mean it's highly complex, especially if all the parts are "off-the-shelf" and made to cheaply snap together. The average smartphone is nowhere near the level of complexity as GPUs which are one of the most complex technological creations sold to regular consumers. Just look at the transistor counts on them alone, the 3060 has like 18 billion transistors in it!

I like the idea of using the aromas four sets. It’s been used before in The Neverhood, though that was more playful and less representational like this is. This is an interesting and exciting concept.

I'm gonna say here that I don't really care much for either Galaxy game not even so much for the waggle (which I do not like) but I hate the camera constantly being upside and shit.

Also Kondo has an interview where he says he wants the final Trails game out in 2031 for Falcom's 50th anniversary.

Considering the first half of Trails took from 2004 (Sky FC) -> 2018/2019 (CS4/Hajimari) and that the games take even longer to develop now in 3d..idk what he's smoking. 2041 would be a lot more realistic with 3 country arcs left.

Maybe he's figuring 2 games per country, so 6 games remaining with the first out this fall.

I know people think this means XC3, but iirc he didn't write a ton of music for either XB game. He was the head of music production, but just did a handful of songs himself (which were all great).

Then again he could be recording a score of other composers music so could be XC3.

Wouldn't be XBX2 because that's Sawano.


I think it's like 50/50 it's XC3 or a completely unrelated rpg.

However, he did call XC2 the biggest audio production he had ever worked on and was put in charge of.

Mitsuda hasn't worked on any Zelda game before and he has barely done any work at all for Squeenix since the PS1 days. On the other hand, he's done a lot of work with Monolith and the Xeno series.

Graphics are a definite improvement over the CS games.
I'm hoping that based on the theme (something like a seedier version of bracers) and the story of Ys IX that it's a bit more mature than the CS series... hoping for no high schools, no military academies, and no Crossbell.

See ya all in 2024 when this finally gets released in America.

Yes, that's Hajimari no Kiseki which came out in Japan last year. It's an epilogue to the CS series with a huge amount of characters returning.
We are also still missing the Crossbell games in the west, which hopefully will be rectified now that they have PS4 ports in Japan.

Was expecting one of these to get announced at the New Games + Expo, but no dice... perhaps after the PC/Switch port of CS4 comes out (this April).

I wonder if they'll skip localizing Hajimari and just straight to this.
Probably not, but they could and that's always a bit dangerous with Falcom game localizations.

I'm pretty hesitant on Kuro no Kiseki until we get a trailer. I'm not convinced the battle system isn't going to be pretty shallow since good luck balancing a deep turn based system when you can just whack whack enemies instead.

But then the balance in their turn-based games is terrible and a mess of too many sub-systems, so maybe it'd still be an improvement. Idk.

The city flyby looks slightly better, fields look slightly better. But it's also a first part game so keeping expectations low for story stuff. Need a story trailer w/music to get some hype.

I think it looks pretty cool. Urban setting and non high school stuff appeals to me. I also think Falcom makes pretty good feeling ARPG combat.

But hesitant about the gameplay. Ys works because at the end of the day, it values the action over tactics. There’s no healing character, special turn gimmick, or whatever. It’s straight to the point focused on reflexes and enemy patterns. The party members are really just different weapons/tools. I think that’s where it succeeds over lamer arpgs. So I don’t know how they will make both modes interesting.
