My fave game on the list was probably Skies of Arcadia, felt that was a much better game than the horribly broken Mass Effect 1 too. I'd probably vote MGS3 over SOTC, though they both are fantastic. Maybe if SOTC didn't have the framerate drops.

Nothing bothers me more than a bad framerate, however I love giant bosses and SotC is still unmatched. MGS3 has no giant bosses so therefore it can't be the better game.

MGS3 has bosses of all sizes and has you fighting like 4-5 bosses back to back at the end of the game. Plus you're not running around doing jack shit when you're not fighting bosses. PLUS IT HAS ONE OF THE GREATEST INTRO SONGS/FMVs OF ALL TIME

- Lara is 21 in this game
- It's not only a reboot of the franchise but a reboot of the entire brand. As a result there will be no "real" Lara model this time.
- They're doing performance capturing with this game
- There are brutal deaths in the game this time. One is described as a deranged man stabbing Lara in the chest and then closing her eyes after she's dead. Another includes a boulder falling on her leg to trap her before another falls and crushes her head.
- CD won't talk specifics on weapons but concept art shows a bow, shotgun and pistol
- The lock on targeting system is gone and it now has a free aim system. CD says that it can compete with any of their competitors.
- "I think that the major difference between this game and the old is the concept of smoke and mirrors," begins Darrell Gallagher, the studio head at Crystal Dynamics. "There was an illusion of freedom because of streaming and loading that would pop you out in a different location, but this is absolutely real. You can literally go any direction that you see and carve your own way to the finish line instead of being guide."
- "It was important in the game to not only deliver the character arc of Lara Croft emotionally, but to deliver it in gameplay as well so the player gets to grow into a hardened survivor," says experienced director Noah Hughes. As the game unfolds, Lara will scavenge new tools and gear that augment her abilities. Lara's athletic prowess will also evolve. Some areas begin inaccessible due to physical limitations or scarce supplies. With the right skills and gear, however, the island is Lara's for the taking.
- There are base camps in the game. Here you can combine items to create something new and access a skill system to upgrade Lara's abilities. You'll also be able to use base camps to fast travel to different locations to minimize backtracking.

- You'll need to gather food and water in order to survive
- There are humans in the game, including some of the crew members from the shipwreck off the coast of the island.

So? What does that have to do with anything?

I think the people who are skeptical of this game's quality have a short memory. So far CD has pumped out three amazing Tomb Raider games back to back, four if you include GoL. Regardless of what direction they take the series in, I'm positive this game will be fantastic.

As long as they avoid stupid shit like eating to survive or some other batshit insane "realistic" game mechanic, this is another winner in the making.

People are fucking idiots. Uncharted 2 is a great looking game but nothing about it beyond how it looks graphically is really special. To me, Tomb Raider was a much better puzzle and exploration game than Uncharted which seemed much more shooting focused.

They're two different game styles, same genre. Uncharted 2 is a fantastic game with what, five difficulty modes, hundreds of unlockables, and amazing multiplayer.

Who cares if it has a shooter focus if the shooting is amazing. Speaking of which, I haven't played Uncharted 2 since February. goty 2009.

I'd say they're both action adventure titles. Though Uncharted places more emphasis on action than it does adventure where it's the opposite for Tomb Raider.

I'd say they're both action adventure titles. Though Uncharted places more emphasis on action than it does adventure where it's the opposite for Tomb Raider.

Just because two games share the same genre doesn't mean they should be compared :yuck

This is like one of those Halo vs Metroid Prime fanboy wars from last gen, two games, same genre, totally different experiences that should never ever be compared  :yuck

i agree im not comparing, i'm just saying they're the same genre.

Awesome, I thought it was going to be a 2011 release for some reason. I gotta get me some points.

Live is raping me this year. I got 15 arcade games and 4 indie games this year alone. There's still like 5 more that I want before the year is over.
