wait they have dragon Quest toobut I see what you're saying. they own lots of stuff like Hudson and Taito iirc and they don't seem to do fuck-all with their properties.
Being hte MMO expert that I am, I took a look at Ashes of Creation. It looks really nice and there's a lot of hints of what they wanted to do with Everuqest Next in there. It's got a mix of former devs in the group. None from games with good combat, so I'm a little concerned over that. It is the most promising looking MMO since BDO released.

It sounds and looks very interesting! I dunno if you know but there's a Kickstarter up. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1791529601/ashes-of-creation-new-mmorpg-by-intrepid-studiosMy only concern is how early it still is, and how far away the game is. I believe they said 2018 or 2019. And there's already a HUGE Discord server with overhyped people. I don't wanna get too invested only to get disappointed. :< But being the MMORPG slave I am, I'm definitely gonna give it a try when it's out.
The problem is their aggressive marketing to Quake fans kinda back fired as it's biggest influence gameplay wise, are rogue likes like Spelunky. This is not some Quake/Doom clone you can blow through. You're gonna die a lot and you're not gonna know what shit is for until you're hours deep.
Quote from: Positive Touch on May 09, 2017, 01:21:26 PMhey look on the bright side: square Enix might snap them up someday and let them keep working together.I wonder if that can happen, if they're interested in more Japanese studios. They expanded to eat EIDOS because they wanted western distribution and publishing, and they got Crystal Dynamics because EIDOS had /just/ purchased CD. I honestly think S-E is mainly interested in making more Final Fantasy games and the occasional movie. The last time they took chances with non-RPGs, they recoiled like a snail's eye stalk.

Got a Quake Champions beta key today, so I played a little and it was fun even though I don't know what the hell I'm doing.

Now, a group of programmers is attempting to revive the game under a new flag. Pirates Online Retribution goes into open beta next week, on May 26 — a date clearly meant to coincide with the release of the newest Pirates movie,
There also appears to be a fair bit of drama involved with the game, as detailed in this post on the forums. Another group, The Legends of Pirates Online (TLOPO) is also attempting a revival of the game, and, according to the Retribution programmers, “is literally threatening to murder members of the Pirates Online Retribution Staff.” Apparently, TLOPO tried to “Swat” the Retribution team, only to mistakenly hit a law firm; “Several people were injured in the process” the post claims. The Retribution project manager also alleges that TLOPO:“THREATENED TO CARRY OUT MORE SWAT ATTACKS, CAUSE ‘ACCIDENTAL’ GAS-LEAKS, AND EVEN THREATENED TO HIRE A HIT-MAN TO MURDER MY GIRLFRIEND IF WE WENT THROUGH WITH OUR PLANNED RELEASE.”Those threats were allegedly issued last summer, but the craziness was still apparently going on as of last week.

i imagine using save states at the start of each level in zelda 2 would make it a million times less annoying. the game is pretty fun imo, but being kicked to the start every game over is unbelievably annoying.
some guy in twitch is doing a 25 hour "speedrun" of xenogears and that shit pisses me off on principal
The guys I have in mind don't speedrun though. Every codec call, start to finish, etc. They do these in six or so hour shifts
I'd get over the hump if there were anything worthwile on the other side, but I don't see how there would be. Marginal entertainment value.
mgs would be different bc they can be short and you'd need a lot of skill. ff you just need to know how to break the game and the will to mash x to skip 15 hours of dialog. it's stupid. if agree with zelda 2 being the worst but I've never played spirit tracks or skyward sword. and the backtracking wasn't that bad, unless you died in death Mountain. FUCK DEATH MOUNTAIN
Picked up Killer is Dead again, gonna finish it this time. Don't remember why I stopped the first time but i did forget how weird it was.
