Modern Square Enix games seem like they're, creatively, ramshackle mad works that are overproduced to a glossy sheen. I'm shocked whenever they come up with a thoroughly coherent product. So that music seems suiting!

I sat down and listened to the Dissidia NT ost for the first time.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaan, I don't know what this 192 track monstrosity is, but it sure ain't music. There have been lots of FF arrangements over the decades but it's like they were trolling Tecmo and made the absolute worst garbage FF arrangements possible to flood the soundtrack. Also I like Ska, a lot, but there is good ska and then there is this:

What sucks is that TSPO (one of the best ska bands I have ever seen live) has a kick ass arrangement of this theme and it seems like they just made it trash for some reason:

Yeah Tokyo Ska Parade Orchestra is a legit great band.

Eh, can't always agree. Some games, sure. But like FF14's pretty put together. FFXV's getting better. KH3 might be focused. Dissidia on PSP was great and had a lot of coherence.

But yeah, some are a messss.

The two FFXIII sequels are among the most bizarre ass games I have ever played. They're like weird bizarro fever dream takes on Chrono Trigger and Valkyrie Profile but with FFXIII characters.

I love how one flop console made Nintendo immediately embrace the worst kind of weebs. As if their hardcore fanbase wasn't bad enough before. Just one generation prior they refused to properly release even the few actual good weeb games they already had out in Japan, now they are diving deep into the loli vault.  :derp

It's always weird and fun to watch them slide deeper into the abyss.

Animu avatar =
First 2 - 3 months on Twitter > some gaming talk, perhaps a weeaboo Samus cosplay once in a while, dipping their toes in something like Gal Gun or Senran Kagura for the 'gameplay'.
Next 4 - 6 months > increased posting of NSFW fan-art / retweeting Patreon 'artists' (this is when I notice the change)
Final 2 - 3 months > Loli animu, Goku x Pikachu x Princess Peach, dripping manga faces, tentacles (OH GOD, unfollow/block/ban)

It goes the same with the Patreon artists. They start out by sharing some cosplay photo's and a month later they're selling 'lewd' images followed shortly by softcore (or even hardcore) porn.
From a psychological point of view for most of those girls the barrier from 'anonymous on the internet' to 'dressing up for pictures and publicizing them' seems bigger than 'dressing up for pictures' and 'dressing up for pictures while giving head' .

My brother in laws wife is a super talented artist. At least most of her realistic drawings have better details than John McNaughton and she has quite a few drawings of various animu and vidya gaming characters adorning the walls of her home that are far above average.

I keep trying to convince her to start doing Hentai and Furry commissions to make some dough, but she refuses.

She’s already married to a weeb, and is half a weeb herself. Might as well cash in. Hell, she almost had a damn furry in her wedding party! Just go google some dog dick pictures and get to work!

You have to download Spyro 2 and 3 if you buy the trilogy for PS4/Bone at retail   :iface

And just last year I was pleasantly surprised by how fair and well Activision handled the Crash trilogy. Since this is basically a digital only game now, I'm gonna wait for a steep discount.

When I got Tumblr five years ago I subscribed to several dozen artists and meme posters and then logged out of it, only logging back on a bi-monthly basis to check in on the status of the users and the occasional meme.

Half of the accounts are gone and everybody else either became a furry or started impersonating some actor or video game character.

A 2D artist I met a couple years back who struggled for a long time to find work eventually had to move back to her parents eventually gave in and started doing porn drawing commissions. No idea how well that worked out for her, but it definitely is a thing that happens.

Some of these online artists also ask for insane amounts of money.  I liked one image from an artist and found that she had a Patreon where you can pay a couple of bucks to get image packs with .PSD files.  The image was in a pack of illustrations from a few months' prior.  Want to buy the older packs?  They're ONLY $60-$70 a pop on Gumroad!

Oh dang.. Ninja Theory just announced Hellblade: SS VR Edition!  (Steam, Oculus, and Vive)  Thought this game was stressful enough. lol

If you already own it on Steam, VR Edition will be free.  Will it make it's way to PSVR?

Tried this the other night on my Oculus and it was pretty cool, right up until it went flat movie and vignette on any cutscene past the intro.

I picked up a mint Sega 32x.

The machine was rushed to the market  but it had a lot of potential.  It’s a shame we never got to see it’s true power.

Mortal Kombat 2 32X is a very interesting port of the classic. The speed seems arcade perfect, the controls feel so quick and pure, it’s a bit hard to explain. The graphics are a huge improvement over the genesis version when it comes to clarity and numbers of frames. The backgrounds are a bit lamer compared to the snes version. I’ve checked online and it seems that the devs offloaded the bg rendering to the genesis.

The game also features the original arcade intro, an improvement over the snes version.

The audio is a mixed bag - music is straight genesis, but the sound effects are much better. There are lots of voice samples that were missing in snes port, yet some sfx are very weak. If you could take the music from the snes version and merge the sfxs voices from the 32x and snes versions you would have the definitive version.

Still, a very interesting port for mk2 fans. It’s such an improvement over  the original mk2 genny port

John at Digital Foundry, aka dark1x, looked at all the 32X games and what each part of the hardware did for every game, many did stuff like that, IIRC a lot of the sound was run mainly on the Genesis still so that's why the games never sounded as good as they could:

Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0JnJjdiu7w

MK2 is at ~17 minutes of the first part.

I went to college in Iowa for a couple of years and I bummed a ride 30 miles into the "big city" of Cedar Rapids so I could get a 32X when it came out.  $160 for a broke college student in 1994 was a LOT of money and I was pretty pissed when the system died in like a year.  There were some good games for it though, I even liked the Doom port and it made the FMV games on Sega CD a lot better looking.  I put a few of the games on my Super NES Classic and some of them hold up pretty well, especially the Virtua games.

I always like seeing the porn parodies because some of them you can tell there's a hardcore* fan because they've really tried hard* to get the look right and often even the dialogue and they go out of their way to try to explain why they're fucking "in world" especially if the characters probably aren't ideal for it. When for a long time even "official" stuff was like "whatever, fuck it*, close enough."

There's usually a lot of good stuff behind you in RPG's.

Basically when players can't progress they think they're going the wrong way. Putting items there means they haven't walked all the way back for nothing and likely stand a better chance against the challenge they couldn't beat earlier.
It also teaches them how items and searching for loot has a positive effect on their chances.  :tophat

I remember these.   :lol  Some were original molds and looked much better than the repaint jobs.  Always thought it was odd they released these when SF2 was always more popular with teenagers and adults who weren't going to give a shit.  Same with the cartoon that followed some years later.
