Hey Khan, are you MM-113-MM on psn? Some guy is like FIGHT ME in SSF4 the other day and I'm like OKAY.

So we exchange blows and I beat him.

He responds with "YEW VERY GEWD ^_^"

I don't remember Bison in either MvC 1 or 2... do you mean X-men vs. Street Fighter?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._Bison

u prob didn't unlock him

I forgot, it has been ten years now (HOLY SHIT) since I bought it in college. I had everything unlocked, I just didn't use non-X-men characters.

or hell...Capcom vs SNK 3 :(

I'm so burned about Street Fighter vs Tekken because Tekken sucks so who cares.

There's a ton of Avengers, though. Marvel is really pushing that stuff for the movies.

Just give me Cyclops as DLC and I'll be a happy camper.

The game is installing, but right off the bat I wanna get a few complaints out of my system:
- No lag/connection bars in online lobbies.

Yes.  This also needs to be addressed, stat.  Right now I usually just leave if another player has a different country flag (or no flag at all), although I had some matches against Euro players that were fine.

Quote
- (allegedly) No way of quitting a lobby in ranked/player matches once you're paired.

Yup.  This is true and is just like Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom was.  It's very, very stupid-- they should have had a match-up screen showing the connection bar and asking if you want to start the match or not.

Quote
- (allegedly) No way of a rematch option in player matches (unless you create a custom lobby?)

This is false; you can select a rematch option in player matches.

They got rid of the 6-button layout? Huh. I've been in the dark on this game.

No, it's still six buttons.  If you mean the "standard" Capcom 2D fighter 3P and 3K layout, yeah, that's been changed, although they changed it back when Marvel Vs. Capcom *2* came out.  :)

MvC2 had 2P/2K and two assist buttons.  This was altered further in TvC, which changed the scheme to a four button set-up, having three attacks and a multi-function assist/switch button.  MvC3 fuses the two together, with three attacks, the special button (used for launchers/an additional air attack/in special moves), and two assist buttons again.

I already know it's a tribute to SF1 Ryu.

I'm asking HOW CAN THE FUCK CAN I GET THIS.

(Image removed from quote.)

It's a tribute to SF1's Ryu.

The first DLCs are going to be released March 1st, the costume pack is priced at $5. Shadow mode is getting released on that date too. Capcom confirmed that the first character pack (Jill/Shuma) will also get released on the first, even though the rumors were pointing to March 15th.

lol.

This game is terrible. All the characters feel the same, theres no individuality anymore as everyone's move set is effectively quarter circle punch. it's fucking terrible. I guess it's good if all you want to do is mash and be able to play every character but I miss having diversity, also the netcode blows. I haven't been able to get into a match yet.

 :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

:dur

This game is terrible. All the characters feel the same, theres no individuality anymore as everyone's move set is effectively quarter circle punch.

Moves in versus games have always been limited to qc and dp motions :lol

No, they haven't been.  Methodis is right on that (and only that, lol).  This is the first Vs. game to cut out just about every other input motion other than quarter/half circles and dragon-punches.  The only charge move currently in the game is Chun-Li's Spinning Bird Kick.  They simplified the move inputs in this sense, but due to the game's chaotic nature, it works in its favor, IMO.

the characterws might lal jump and run differently but whats the fucking point when xxCoD PhaN 420xx can hit quarter circle punch and win with any character? theres no skill or learning characters it's all "letz pick who has highest coefficient".

Only an idiot would let himself get killed by a button-masher doing qcf+attack over and over again.

Holy fuck.  Get out of this thread.

I went through Dante's movelist and I'm impressed by how deep his character is.  35-40 character roster with this kind of depth and variety of tactics is going to keep this game going for a looooong time like MvC2.

One thing though, I thought the whole point of MvC is to be accessible?  Like anyone should be able to pull off any move at any time and all the skill comes down to tactics and not which person has honed their hand reflexes to pull off their moves 99% of the time.  So why do they have moves in MvC3 which require high skill timing to pull off?  I'm talking about stuff like some of Dante's fake outs.  His DP+M-> cancel into DP+M requires some pretty fast timing.  I can pull it off, but I dunno if I could pull it off consistently mid-fight.  The window seems really tiny.  I also can't figure out what the window is for his S fireworks attack after a QCB+L.  I thought I wasn't going to half to learn timing windows with this game!  I like my simple tactics :P

The game is pretty nice.  On PS3 though I'm encountering a little slowdown here and there.  Also NO OVERSCAN OPTION means the characters are outside of the screen whenever they get to the edges on my tv :(  Overscan options are kind of important for a fighter!

Also how do you dodge/block that attack of the final boss where he claps his hands and grabs you for 75%+ of your life?  I always ate it.  Barely beat the boss on my first try.

Oh and X-factor is AWESOME ...for playing against the cpu to unlock stuff.

You get down to your last character, X-factor lvl.3, BAHAHAHAHAHA ALL REMAINING CPU DIE IN 5 SECONDS OF STANDARD COMBOS.  I think I killed the 2nd to last cpu guy and when the 3rd one was flying in I activated a super and 1 hit KO'd him before he landed.  I swear he had like 50%+ HP left.  lololol

Realistically for balancing, I think x-factor should be a lvl.1 only thing.  lvl.3 is just waaaaay too much damage.

Oh and I wish the S button did a few more things.  Seems almost like a waste of a button.

It's easy to do cool looking combos in MvC, but MvC2 at least was not very accessible. It's one of the most execution-heavy fighting games ever created.

But anyway, I'm finally gonna start playing this game. Excite!

And he's slow

And he doesn't have air dash or double jump

I wonder what makes him good.  I hope he's good.  He's one of the characters I was looking forward to the most since I <3 BC.

Game definitely feels more like MvC2 than TvC.  But at the same time it doesn't really feel like MvC2.  Going to have to get used to it.  It feels like they took MvC2 and zoomed the camera in 75% so you now have this VERY VERY close quarter, high damage game.  Most of the moves are like 50% the range of the entire playfield.  Some of them are more like 100%!  Momentum also feels different.  In generally I feel like things are faster than MvC2 but like Spiderman feels sluggish compared to MvC2.

Damn, videos do not do this game justice. Easily one of the best looking games this generation.

Just stumbled my way through arcade once with Dante/Wesker/Morrigan. Barely had a clue what I was doing, but thankfully the computer is pretty easy to beat on normal. Time to hit up training mode for a minute.

I thought I noticed a framedrop for a second during the final boss and i was like OH HELL NAW, but I figured I was seeing things and brushed it off. I really hope they locked the framerate... :-\

Just beat Trish's trials. The last few were pretty hard, but I got through them eventually. You need to be fucking fast when doing combos that use assists, let me tell you.

I wasn't really intending on learning her just yet, but I guess I kinda did. Oh well, on the team she goes until I figure out how to play other characters.

Yeah, the slowdown issue is on 360 too.  I just had it playing somebody using sentinel online.  The intro frame rate dip seems the same on both version, too.

I do think that the 360 version looks slightly better, however, and of course XBL online > PSN online.
