Goddammit. I want a release date for H&H. It's the biggest differentiating feature between this and Vanilla. Extra fighters be damned.

I will say that over the past year fighting game releases have been good about achievements. They seem to devote at least a third of the achievements to single player, and tasks that involve mostly playing a lot. Nice change of pace to other games where most are online and you can get maybe 100 single player.

i've watched so much streaming that I know exactly how online guys are cheesing out and how I'm screwing up.  It's infuriating!

not to mention figuring something out in practice mode, then going online and having it be null and void due to slight input lag.

I have fun online, but H&H will make this game for me.  Pretty brilliant to do an officially made Rainbow Edition of the game!

and fucking lol @ Vita replays.  Capcom is so shameless.  wow.

I guess they've learned that -- short of creating an enormous cinematic story-mode -- achievements and in-game challenges are the best way to bolster the single-player experience of what is, by and large, a multiplayer title.  It seems particularly necessary if your ending cinematics are going to consist of matted, low-res drawings with a few lines of text.

i'm hoping this is just a mindless capcom PR flub and that all this is coming to the console version too.

smh. such a idiotic idea to have different feature sets on the different versions. Especially something as silly as this. If it was a bigger single player component because it's a fucking psp game and online infrastructure is ass; great! but hit box information is for dedicated people not commuters. Are they so desperate they would wring a couple of extra sales out of those people instead of just giving this shit up for free in exchange for good will?

even after the sequel came out :lol

and the sequel was different in every region too!   U.S. release was not so hot, Japan release was the true DOA3, the Euro release had all the changes of the Japan release, but nerfed the Hayate cartwheel, which was broken.

so...U.S. Players--- "Itagaki!  this shit's all fucked up!"
Itagaki: "Don't worry!  The Japanese release is gonna be awesome!"
U.S.: :usacry
Japanese players: "This game is great except hayate's cartwheel!"
Itagaki: "Don't worry!  We're gonna fix that for the Euro release."
Japan:   :japancry
Euroland: "What's DOA?"
Itagaki: :itagakicry

then they did constant title updates for Ninja Gaiden, which overwrote the whole game which made it obvious that they didn't care about getting DOA3 on par.

Nothing tops DOA for mostly-useless updates.  Most of the stuff added or changed was just cosmetic, but IIRC the list/release order is something like this:

-DOA1 arcade
-DOA1 Saturn
-DOA1 Playstation
-DOA1++ arcade
-DOA2 arcade
-DOA2 Millennium Edition arcade
-DOA2 Dreamcast U.S.
-DOA2 Dreamcast Europe
-DOA2 Playstation 2 Japan
-DOA2 Dreamcast Japan
-DOA2 Hardcore Playstation 2  U.S.
-DOA2 Hard*Core Playstation 2 Japan
-DOA3 Xbox U.S.
-DOA3 Xbox Europe/Asia
-DOA2 Ultimate Xbox

Most of the DOA2 changes were more outfits and levels, or changed levels between the DC and PS2.  Hard*Core had extra cut scenes, turbo speed, and even more outfits added.   DOA1 got "remade" on PSX then ported back to arcades, and DOA3 got more moves and outfits for Europe and Japan; Team Ninja released the outfits on a disc for the States and nobody gave a fuck about the moves as long as they had more titties.  Pretty much sums up DOA.

I bought a bunch of those too...huge waste of money.  Around the time Ultimate came out, I was at the height of my video game collecting and Team Ninja was my favorite dev.  i thought they were perfect.  :lol  Their xbox run was great though.  Then, with the 360, I liked DOA4 a lot.  But then I impulse bought DOAX2 just because it was Team Ninja and that's when I snapped out of it...then NG2 just pissed me off, but all became clear when Itagaki left.

Still wish he would've gotten to make Code Chronus.

anyway, back to Wesker vs. X-23: The Fate of Don Flamenco's online win record.

X-23 bros!

"I'm the second best at what I do"

indeed.

X-23/Frank/Ryu.

i'm pretty good at my X-23/Frank tactics, but haven't practiced Ryu at all...just hope for air-tatsu > shinku-some-bulllll-shit.  plus lvl3 Xfactor shinku can easily turn the tides on assist happy players.

I don't have a set team-- can never settle on anyone, but I've found I do well with Morrigan/Trish/Captain America or Spider-Man.  I also like Ghost Rider.

Everybody says X-23 sucks now and Felicia has taken her place.

I bought all of them.   :-[  Forgot that there were TWO Japanese Dreamcast DOA2s also...one had different disc art and contained PC wallpaper as a bonus.  Why this was made "limited" when the versions were the same price is beyond me.

I've also since quit collecting and have sold a lot of shit off, but I still have like three bookshelves full of games.

it pretty much always works for me.  it's just that the menus take for-ev-er to update your profile, then save.  This makes ranked matches damn slow to hop in and out of.

this mode is kinda bad :\   It sounded like it would be so much better on paper, but I picked up most of the cards and online input lag is finally starting to really kill the enjoyment (parry card is useless.) I'm kinda done trying to play this game.  Still love tourneys though...guess I'm going pure stream monster/casual fighting game fan.

I'm not parrying shit online cause i suk

and doa dimensions is super easy.  i'm loosening up my stance on fighters, since I have no opportunities to actually get serious about them and make it count.  I will become Daigo against the AI...my ps3 will rage quit at my awesomeness.

I meant fighting games in general.  Marvel is LOLOLOLOLOLOL.  I play it casually and will probably play it a lot more now that I will have it in portable form on the Vita, but I'd much rather be playing SSF4 or KOF on consoles.

It's just this game that I'm talking about...it's just not clicking for me.   I'm still interested in every Capcom/Namco fighter coming out next year.  not so much @ blazblue, skull girls, anime fighters in general.

How is KOFXIII's offline play?  Might snag that and Tekken Hybrid in the B2G1 at gamestop tomorrow....

BlazBlue is really, really difficult to get into.  It's pretty much lost on me with the last few updates its gotten, but I will also be trying it again with the Vita version.

Skull Girls looks pretty cool; I'd give that a chance.  It's made in the States and has some interesting ideas.

There's enough  there for a fighter...you get Arcade, Story, Training, and Mission modes.  I spend all my time in it online though.

Wouldn't bother with Tekken Hybrid.  The movie sucks and TTT1 is gonna feel dated.

blazblue just takes forever, it feels like.  The game looks like it should be really fast, if that makes any sense.  But the rounds just keep going and going.  On top of that, the updates/new versions are absolutely fucking ridiculous.

decided to pass on tekken/kof tomorrow.  Tekken will be $10 by the time I get home from my vacation and I can check out KOF later too.

lol, looks like Capcom has decided not to release Magneto's alt costume after all.

Dunno what they were thinking putting that costume in, in the first place.  It's like, "Hey guys, remember that costume Magneto wore that was a tracejob of the King of Spain and caused a huge controversy where Marvel had to remove the costume from additional print-runs?  LET'S TOTALLY PUT THAT IN OUR GAME!"

Apparently he isn't even getting a replacement costume of any sort.
