ELITE BUMP

I finally got to lv58 tonight. After a Stratholme group fell apart since we couldn't find a healer, I decided to head to the outlands. Eventually I made my way to the place where the portal is. Before going in I watched the huuge battle going on among NPCs, to the east of the portal. After awhile I noticed the enemies were all gone except this HUGE pit master or whatever. Naturally I decided to run down there and shoot him with my gun, but once the shot was fired a bunch of huge elites spawned on top of me and took me out with 2 hits lol

I must say I was confused inside the portal. I ran across these enemies who I would take down to like 10hp, then after that I couldn't hurt them anymore; it said something about a stone near them, but I couldn't touch it for some reason. MEH. I decided to just explore around and wtf I saw lv44 people. I thought it was just for lv58+? I was in the Blasted Lands btw.

Was I in the wrong place?

Nothing worse than having a low mana healer. I've died so many times due to that

Skilly: I'm out of mana!
*Goinio has died*
*group wipes except the hunter*
Skilly: Whoops, lol I don't know how to rez either

That's not necessarily why healers go out of mana.  Sometimes it's an undergeared tank, not being at full mana on the pull, an overall lack of crowd control or just lack of control of the fight, pulling multiple groups, etc.  Or they might just be bad healers who don't know what heals to use and when.

Have you started an alt on MAF's server yet, PD?  I'm thinking about playing a couple hours this afternoon.

edit: If they don't know how to rez they're fucking idiots, though.

The blood elf starting area is fantastic.  It makes it hard to start a character of any other race because vanilla WoW is so lacking in comparison.  I'm trying to think of what class to play.  I'm kind of leaning towards another paladin because they do everything well up until the mid-30s and are really fun to play because of it.  A druid would work too but they suck until level 20 and I don't plan to play often.

Mulgore is perhaps the worst starting area ever. Quests that start and end at opposite sides of the area, aggro mobs all over the place. Takes hours to get to level 10.

Got to lv12; looks like I may be ready for an instance tomorrow night. We'll see though: I got homework and MNF

Being able to heal myself is soo awesome. I can take on multiple mobs and grind 2-3 times as fast lol. And skinning gives me an excuse to grind lol. I figured going leatherworking/skinning would be the best thing to do; I can sell the mats and make stuff for Cubicle's rogue.

I'd prefer to keep my playtime to the weekends.  I don't want to get into the habit of coming home from work and playing until I have to go to bed again.  When you dream about your character at night and spend part of your workday on wowhead it's gone way too far and as Frag said, it's a dangerous game for me.

I'm at lv14 now. Right now I'm still getting a grip on the class. Being able to heal myself is pretty helpful, but you have to time it correctly - especially when fighting enemies who are higher levels. Once my health starts getting near the half way point I start the heal. I need to get faster but it's going good so far.

And damn, skinning is cool. It goes a lot faster than mining, and it gives me the perfect excuse to grind. Plus my health/mana regenerates as I do it, allowing me to skin and then run into battle immediately

I'm now an overpowered level 7 warlock.  Probably the only level 7 (or non-raiding) warlock on the server with a quartz cast bar and a /stopcasting /cast shadow bolt macro for bringing the pain.

I'm kinda bummed with both my characters. Since I renewed my account I've had a horrible time finding groups for instances. It's like no one does Stratholme, LBRS, etc. Instances keep my attention far more than grinding alone slowly, and it's the way I find gear. I hate asking my guild because some low level always wants to come, and if I say no the GM will be like "ahem!"   :-\

Azelion is coming along fast, and is lv15. But the server seems so dead. I was in the LFG que most of my playtime today trying to do the Deadmines or something, and no one was looking. When I was this level with Goinio there were always tons of groups doing DM and having a great time together. And that was when the server was "low" in population.

The weekend has to be better

Yea the whole "someone is thinking about buying your item!" thing is dumb. I still made a good deal of cash on the AH today. I had the linen cloth market in a clear monopoly, and I capitalized on the high demand for light leather (90s for 20) before it dropped significantly (45s for 20) a few hours ago. Usually I undercut the accepted price in order to outsell the competition and redirect the market, but since I'm a poor, lowly lv15 I played ball straight up. AH is fun just for the economics imo

and omg, wtf does "nerfs" mean

nerf = a skill/class was softened, ruining its effectiveness. there's balancing, which is reducing the strength of an overpowered ability/class; and nerfing, which is reducing a class/ability nobody really considers to be overpowered

Also, I'm guessing a lot of people played Halo 3 until 5 AM to beat the campaign instead of playing WoW.

I use a macro to cut down on the time between casts because I have high latency.  I have a casting bar that tells me how bad my latency is at that moment and the macro uses /stopcasting (so I can send the server a new command without the client rejecting it because I'm already doing something) and then the spell I want to cast.  By the time these commands reach the server I've already cast my last spell.  This probably takes an average of .25 seconds off my shadow bolt cast times.  I also had quite a few macros for communicating during raids.  Most other things are taken care of by mods.

yeah im hoping my stuff sells today, then again there isnt much I could buy. AH is a wasteland.

And no I dont use any macros.

Edit: Lol, it looks like the latest patch is causing even more framerate issues for players. Blizzard is still doing the Mods/Soundcard shuffle.

So I was trying to finally get a group together for Stratholme earlier, and finally found 3 people to help. We were looking for a DPS class to come along when a lv70 rogue whispered me, saying he wanted to come. I'm always wary about doing stuff with 70s because you get far less XP. I said ok though because I figured hey, at least I should get some cool items with this guy helping. WRONG

When I'm group leader I stress very few things, but each is important. First, I go into battle first. Second, after battles I don't attack again until everyone is ready (I even ask). Most people understand this strategy and go along with it, but the lv70 seemed to think that since he was such a high level we could simply throw out the gameplay. WRONG

Right after we cleared a mob he'd run head first into another - not giving our healer enough time to build up mana. So often the healer would run out of mana causing major problems. To make matters worse the rogue couldn't keep arrgo, so after a few seconds the mob would run to the healer. I was able to fix this later by making clear that I'm the fucking tank, but the problems continued. Even when the healer went afk this lv70 tard would run into battle lol. OMG

All I got was this necklace:

I finally spent some time in the outlands and damn, looks like people were right about its awesome-ness. Within that 1hr+ amount of time I started three quest chains and got these items:
http://www.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=29945
http://www.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=29919
!!

Both were huge upgrades in terms of my armor rating; the shield added like 600+ armor. I replaced blue items but hey.

No wonder I can never find anyone for Stratholme lol, everyone's in outlands.

btw I did Dire Maul last night with a lv70 and 69, as well as a lv60. The lv69 mage needed help to get his epic mount so he didn't refuse my entry into the group heh. Mostly I watched the high lv players own shit...

Amazing instance; I can't wait to get to lv60-61 so I can do it with similar leveled people. It reminded me of something straight out of greek mythology, even moreso than Uldaman.

Dire Maul was my favorite of the high end instances back in the day. Especially the ogre side, where you get a loot bonus for defeating all of the bosses before the final boss. Upper and Lower Blackrock Spire were terrible.

New mage changes in 2.3 patch make MAF frown kinda:

Evocation: Return locked at 15% of mana every 2 seconds. Evocation is 8 seconds, locking return at 60% of total mana. Gay. If you cant figure out how to scale the skill at least let mages compensate by spirit dumping. Motherfuck.

No more detect magic: WHO CARES. Now I can automatically see crap I never needed to see in the first place. FIX OTHER STUFF!

Also: 47, booyah. Also respecced:

Nice mage. I'll get on Azelion later today hopefully but omg I'm distracted by the outlands.

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ravenholdt&n=Goinio
(you have to click on the helmet to see what it is; must be a glitch)

My armor rating is insane. Ever since I got the new shield/helmet/chest armor I've been able to take out 2-3 lv58 hellboars at the same time. On many occassions I'll have less than 50% of my health and still be able to beat the enemy without using a potion and/or running. I'm still using that axe; the Foe Reaver is much better but I need to get my sword rating up higher. By the end of today it should be high enough for me to capitalize on it. It's at 273/295 right now

Yeah, the mage forum talked me out of the frost/ice armor talent buff and convinced me to go as clearcasting in arcane then max out fire instead of dicking around with ice since fire mages almost never REALLY use ice. I guess fire/ice mages are pretty durable but lose a lot of DPS potential. Most mages argue that fire in end game PVP still isnt viable..in that you can't be one of the best. A good player can still do OK with fire spec, but not nearly as well as the usual ice/arcane builds.

Oh well ill give it a go anyway ;-)

Ive never been to the outlands. I have a level 60 character on Gilneas but like most of my early characters he's kinda busted. Each new character I make tends to be more thought out than the last in terms of professions, completed quests, equipment, and talent build.

Oh well ill give it a go anyway ;-)

Ive never been to the outlands. I have a level 60 character on Gilneas but like most of my early characters he's kinda busted. Each new character I make tends to be more thought out than the last in terms of professions, completed quests, equipment, and talent build.

just level to 70 then raid with pickups (maybe the most frustating situation a person can be in).

get some good gear, then go apply to some high level guilds where the leader thinks he has a 12 incher and you just play bitch for gear.

then you're all maxed out, and if you want to make a name for yourself go camp some low level pvp area for days on end until someone on the forum bitches about you and then boom you're famous.

easy right

I'm surprised at how much I'm able to accomplish in the outlands, in short periods of time.
