I'm 9 levels away from 70 and already dreading raids. Everyone in the guild is so damn serious about it, and I'm just like meh, it's just a game duders. I'm not spending all weekend "training" for Khara or whatever it's called, like it's a midterm.

When I get to lv70 I'll most likely help lower level people do shit, which I already do. There's nothing like running 11 year olds through the dead mines lol

Well I work 9-4/5 ish but the to and from commute, depending on the weather, can add 2 to as much as 4 hours to my total workday. Then on the weekends I am out of the house from 11-6/7 with friends or whatever. Sundays are my day of HOME. Of course chores have been slacking lately as work has been more demanding and im too lazy on Sunday to do chores cause I WANNA DO NOTHING AT HOME FOR ONE DAY OMG lol. So when I look at WoW as my way to spend Sunday I kinda groan and do something else.

One more level and you'll be in outlands.

Are you doing instances? I'm guessing LBRD, assuming you can find people to do it lol. Finding groups in outlands (Ramparts, Blood Furnace) is rather easy, but no one ever does LBRD. I never got far in that instance, and still have quests from there. Same with Scholo and Strat, although I've heard they're not worth the effort when compared to outlands instances

The old 50s 60s dungeons are a fustercluck of design. Too big and too tedious. Dungeons within dungeons, backtracking and meandering paths. Just hell. The dungeon level design went to shit after ZF, but they got back to straight forward design in BC.  Even a 10 man like Kara is faster feeling than Blackrock.

Yea LBRD is so massive that it's just confusing. You can fall off a bridge and wind up in the vicinity of a boss battle.  :-\

Ramparts is very straight forward, as is BF. In fact, BF is probably the fastest high level instance I've done. There are basically three boss battles, and only one is hard. Of course I'm referring to the sequence where you have to fight like 5 waves of orc mobs before facing a bigass one eyed squid straight out of DnD. I hate that entire battle.

The last boss is hella easy as long as the healing is going well; spells do a crap ton of damage to me, and having 4 of those spellcasters attacking me at the same time can hurt like hell

btw I liked ZF lol.

owned the game for ten days, level 50 on my warrior already . I highly recommend the new quests in mudsprocket if you are in your late 30s, btw-definite change of pace.

The old endgame guild is still mostly intact minus some members that I hated anyway. I don't think I'll ever raid again but having friends around to do PvP and heroics with is nice.

Yeah the new changes are really great, my wife is working in the late 50s with some characters and XP is a lot faster now.

MMOs are really great after daylight savings time ends. It's all dark out early and it makes long evening sessions of comping out easier to justify.

not bad, though I would try to work in 3/3 meditation somehow since shadow priests are such mana hogs. I can't really comment on anything more than that, since I was a prima donna holy priest back when I raided at 60.

Eventually once your shadow stuff really kicks in post say level 20 or 30, ditch the wand spec. Between levels 30-55 the 'good wands' almost vanish entirely and dont get good till the Wizards Hands start showing up. I'd also back up the meditation comment by Frag. As a mage my talent tree still tries to minimize mana loss and maximize mana gain, and the wand spec is kinda :-/ once the good wands vanish and your mana situation is under control. Then again do priests get a good 'scorch' equivalent? Scorch is like the best mage spell evar!

Also as a mage the only thing I can comment on with any certainty is the Wand Spec and Mana issues, the shadow part of your build is a mystery to me.

Here's another possible build, better past 20-30 tho:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVMhzoZbZxMgtMtRhtVo

You really wanna take advantage of crits and stay out of the holy tree I think.

Blackout is good for PVP, it's like Impact that way. Stunning other players totally messes up their game. In PvE a LOT of people argue that talents like Impact/Blackout make it harder to pull since you can get a stun out of an attack leaving the mob in range of other mobs that could wander into the stunned mob and take it as a sign to attack.

PERSONALLY, I see it as DPS opportunity in PvE. People who are aware of aggro ranges can pick and choose their targets easily in every area save maybe Outland where mobs are packed so dense. In groups you wouldn't be the one pulling anyway. So as a mage I choose my targets carefully and impact totally works to my advantage. I suspect Blackout could equal the same results.

Spirit Tap is awesome tho, if I had to choose over the two I would always pick Spirit Tap. The build I posted doesnt leave a lot of room to move points around to accomodate both really. If you were group/raid focused you might shift things around to push for reduced thread and fewer crits.

As an aside:

As you get to higher levels and resilience comes into play, a concept I STILL dont fully understand, you may want to make slight adjustments to improve spell penetration or lowering target resists to your school of magic. I know my 10/48/3 build uses the 3 in ice for elemental precision for example. Once youre that far tho you won't need advice from a dumb fire mage :)

spirit tap is a godsend for solo/duoing pve. blackout is OK if you pvp a lot.

Yeah, its pretty much impossible to do both anyway, and i'd aways take spirit tap over blackout. I think the biggest knock against blackout is that its at the same tier as spirit tap lol

I knew some kickass shadow priests and I think they used spirit tap over blackout. At higher levels spill hit becomes important, to go along with what maf was saying.

the "cool young dude" market on my server is incredible-decent level 66 blue bop tanking human tanking weapon? 50g. level 29-ish dagger? 300g.

I'm 52 now and have almost 400g just mining and skinning and selling the goods on the AH while leveling. Getting my premium mount right when I get 60 will be darn nice.

Leveling up with groups is pretty much bad news bears unless you know the people you are with. Especially now with 2.3.0 introducing massive amounts of leveling boosts, especially in the 50-60 region. I haven't stepped into an instance on my warrior and won't do so until I get to outlands, where the quest rewards and especially rep gains from dungeons make the risk of grouping worth it (it helps that my wife plays healers and I have two good friends with almost limitless resources and tons of alts, so making a group isn't too hard for 65+ stuff).

How's everyone doin? Im closing in on 63. Got my spell damage past 300 finally and have started seeing the +Spell Hit gear finally. Also a 30% chance to crit with Scorch/Fireblast almost :D

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Muradin&n=Vynitha

Argent Dawn seriously saved my ass last night in Eastern Plagueland. I had gone to one of the towers recently capped by Alliance. I found a level 60 mage/priest (didnt stop to check) unflagged outside the tower. Couldn't be him, so I went in and found the hunter skulking around waiting for his flag to disappear.

He was only two levels under me so I didn't feel too bad about nuking him. After he died I left the tower while the mage/priest watched me leave. I felt pretty awesome, so I went to the Chapel to turn in a few SAVAGE FRONDS and BONE FRAGMENTS when I walk through the front door only to see a level 70 Alliance paladin glowing like the freaking sun. His back was to me so I figured he hadn't seen me. So I walked out backwards and as I turned to run around the corner and teleport the heck away, he comes running around and stuns me with his stupid paladin crap.

So im like ok, 8 levels difference, I can at least slow him down a little (im 62 now) but before I can attempt to put up a fight all of Argent Dawn descends on the paladin, each doing their knock down move in sequence knocking the level 70 paladin up the mountain side behind the chapel and eventually killing him.

Argent Dawn has my back!

63! woo! Crit chance is at 25% for fire spells and 31% for scorch and fireblast.

Doing some forum research on critchance vs spellhit vs mana/hp, crit chance may go down but with scorches criting at near 700 woooooo
