If I'm working towards some long-term goal involving big changes -- like right now it's returning to school after four years of nothing since high school -- I have these terrrrrrible moments of paralyzing self-doubt and anxiety every time I catch myself thinking about it while high. Also, I'm running out of room in my life for activities that promote antisocial behavior.

Still smoking daily but I'll have to cut back for sure between work and school.

No-one you would know, no. Part of a totally different circle. I still don't know anything more than that. I came home drunk last night and looked at Steve's FB page in search for some answers...his profile pic was of him and the boy, both of them grinning like fools. I wept uncontrollably. I just don't know how you pick up and go on from there. They have another kid, a daughter who's about 12. She must be just catatonic at this point. How can you ever trust an adult again after that?

Have you done anything related to stochastic models in speech recognition? One of my friends was doing a presentation on Markov chains for school and I ended up reading about hidden Markov models and their applications to speech recognition and bioinformatics and it sounded like pretty cool stuff.
