Going to the airport in 2 hours. Nearly finished with my packing. The MAD TETRIS SKILLZ I developed in college have resurfaced while trying to pack small, lovely Japanese boxes into my suitcase.

I had a call from my friend at the airport that my standby status is looking pretty good for today. Here's hoping I don't have to come home and wait two more days for the next chance.

That's how mine are. As long as they are in the same general area they are fine. Even if they are in the yard and we are in the house they don't give a shit. They know that when we don't feel like playing the other dog probably does so it's not a big deal to them.

We walk ours twice a day and then I generally play fetch with them both at the same time inside. So they're pretty exhausted by the time they go to bed. But they like to hang out in the back yard. They have a spot in the yard where they like to sniff it, dig their nose into it and then guard it. I don't know what's in there. Don't really want to know either. It's probably a body. But they have to spend at least an hour outside guarding it. If not they whine at the door until I let them.

I made it on the flight, enjoyed business class seats which lay entirely flat (United), so was able to sleep for about 3 or 4 hours!

Already had my first moment of culture shock; I went to Starbucks to grab a yogurt and use the free wifi for mail. Two women were sitting next to each other at the cushioned chairs table, having conversations, but not with each other. One was on a cell phone, and was loud. The other was staring at a laptop, having a video chat. So it looked like they were both talking over each other, when in fact they were not even interacting with anyone who was present.

Starbucks baked goods in Japan suuuuuuck. I had a Morning Bun along with the yogurt. St. Cormacaroni predicted Waste-ocalypse has begun, as predicted.

ST LOUIS ISN'T THAT BIG. It shouldn't take 3 hours to get anywhere in the metro area.

I've been seeing the horror stories on the Facebook feed, but my commute was pretty smooth. Mind you, I don't have to drive through St. Louis City proper, as I take the JB Bridge over to South County. But yeah, my usual 30 minute commute was an unbearable 35 minute commute.
