two degrees, (double honours BS compsci and philosphy and honours BA in ling).  I started with the double honours then wanted to move from philo to ling, but I had most of my philo requirements so it made sense just to keep up with it.  The extra degree separates me from others for grad school, plus I wanted to learn ling, plus it was only an extra year for a degree, plus it padded my gpa.  Though if I were to do it all again I would have went for a compsci/stats major.

My friends and I threw a surprise birthday party for a friend at my place last night.  Got out of hand around when everyone was doing their 3rd round of shots.  One of my friends puked all over my living room rug and the room smells like DEATH.  Googled solutions and got recommendations for cat barf remover, sprayed that stuff and aired out the house all day and it's slightly better but rug is still death incarnate.  Going to keep spraying and airing for a few days but might need to just throw out the entire rug >_<

Also neighbors were pretty pissed.  People were out on the deck yelling and going crazy and puking until 4am.  Plus people kept turning the stereo back on LOUD after I kept shutting it off after about 1am.


Otherwise, a good party.

This group of friends are ~25-30 (I'm the oldest person at 31).  Lately they've (and myself sometimes) been going bar hopping every weekend and out drinking and partying until 5-6am.  Everyone drinks almost nightly and there's beer pong tournaments and stuff.  Most of my friends left my place at 4am, went home and crashed, woke up and then drove down to San Diego to bar hop all night.

We have a theory going around that everyone is subconciously making up for lost time since we were all nerds and introverts in high school/college and missed out on the frat house party life, so now everyone is experiencing that lifestyle for the first time and enjoying it.

The difference is that your body can't really keep up with partying like a 20 year old when you're 30.   


It's fun, just sometimes gets out of hand.  Everything in moderation

Counting interest up until now, my student loan total was about $95,000.

That is enough for a modest yet respectable home in my area.  A student loan costing as much as a house.

haha, i've sort of done the opposite...I've always been a game fan, but after I lost the itch to party every single weekend, catch every concert, etc. etc. I let my introvert side express itself as much as it wants!  It kinda sucks because my partying years played out almost everywhere but Chicago, where i live now.  On the other hand, people are a lot less laid back here, so I don't like the scene as much anyway...

I think I was supposed to find a wife or something during all that partying.  A lot of people come out on the other end saying that-- all the craziness and fun was really just socializing in order to find someone to marry and have kids with.  Weird....I don't think any of the girls I was hanging around were that type

That does depend on whether we're talking about positive or negative traits.

Everything, of course.  There's stuff that's directly taught or conditioned in you.  And other stuff you do as a reaction to their input.  I guess my point is that you can't really ever filter them out of the equation, unless either you or them leaves really early on.  So, you get the good and the bad (and there are always big exceptions.)

I've been out of the house for roughly 14 years or so, but it seems like Chicago wasn't far enough (they are in the burbs.)  I've only been here the past 4 years, otherwise I was out of state, but my folks are bugging me more than ever.  I don't really want to resent them, but I think starting fresh somewhere else could be great.  I have this feeling it'll be a huge drama though, even if I explain why (they have a grad program I can't get anywhere else.)  My only chance is that if they're as annoyed with me as I am with them...entirely possible   I'll be going either way, but it would be awkward to leave on a bad note with them.

Yeah and I get that. I can understand people caring about the stuff. But I mean I even use the tv's speakers and well have never invested in a sound system at all. I'm pretty sure my computer's speakers are from a Windows Me computer. I'm just not an audiophile or anywhere close. Heck, I'm sure iphone headphones suck, but I'd probably use them over these new ones. That's just the way I am. I guess I'm the audio equivalent of using composite cables on an HDTV and not really caring about the difference.
