That does depend on whether we're talking about positive or negative traits.
Everything, of course. There's stuff that's directly taught or conditioned in you. And other stuff you do as a reaction to their input. I guess my point is that you can't really ever filter them out of the equation, unless either you or them leaves really early on. So, you get the good and the bad (and there are always big exceptions.)
I've been out of the house for roughly 14 years or so, but it seems like Chicago wasn't far enough (they are in the burbs.) I've only been here the past 4 years, otherwise I was out of state, but my folks are bugging me more than ever. I don't really want to resent them, but I think starting fresh somewhere else could be great. I have this feeling it'll be a huge drama though, even if I explain why (they have a grad program I can't get anywhere else.) My only chance is that if they're as annoyed with me as I am with them...entirely possible

I'll be going either way, but it would be awkward to leave on a bad note with them.
