There's a new black dude at work, young guy. Every time I walk past him he gives me this longing stare, and I always respond with the Black Man Head Nod, which he reciprocates. I have no problem doing the nod, but I feel like you should only do it once to someone in a day. Tuesday I did it like 4 times to him because it seemed like he wanted me to 

I don't know what else to do. We were both busy so it's not like I could stop and say what's up

There's an old man at work that does this to me except it's not the nod.  He asks everytime he sees me "Hey Ed, how's it going?"  My response is always the same.  Considering we sit like 20 ft away from each other I see him upwards of ten times a day.  It's annoying.  But he's so nice

This guy has a speech impediment and it takes him time to say every 6 out of 10 words. He seems cool and I noticed when we talked about basketball he got super excited and was able to talk more clear. But overall he doesn't say much unless he has to. It's a working interview type thing so I don't know how long he'll be here.

I'm so used to working almost entirely with women, which rocks. We get so many gifts from dental specialists: cakes, pies, candy, basically all the shit you'd expect dental offices not to have. And the women have some type of social thing where they don't want each other to see them eating junk/fatty food; they want everyone to know they're on a diet, "oh I can only eat one bite of this, wouldn't want to get off my diet schedule AMIRITE." Which means I get to take most of that shit home

Haha, I was actually the musical director for a theater group back in undergrad. A lot of the girls were hot, but almost all of them were at least a little crazy.

oh god.  that shit exists at my job too except it's not just women that partake in it.  Everyone has to seem modest when bad shit is brought around.  I used to be the guy who ate everything and it was awesome.  If someone brought donuts, only 1 or 2 would be eaten.  Then I'd make them mine.  But then I gained 100 lbs   So now I act like a woman with the rest of them.  Workplace etiquette is such a strange thing.

Edit: It's even worse when we go out to eat as a group.  It seems like everyone is competing to see who can eat the slowest.  It's obnoxious!  But to be fair, being known as the guy who eats whatever is around and finishes his plate before everyone does suck.

I'm going to take some time off from school.  These last couple of semesters have not went well for me and my GPA is in the shitter.  On top of all that, I'm just burnt out on it.  I know I've only been back at it for a year and a half, but I'm just worn down from it and I don't need the stress it's causing me at the moment.  Between being a full-time parent and a part-time employee and trying to get healthy, I'm just down in the dumps all the time.

I'm going to see how taking a semester or two off does for me.  In the meantime, I'm going to get my life back on track.

I have a feeling that my manager at Gamestop is trying to get rid of me.  He told me a while back that I wasn't his first choice for a manager at his store because he wanted one of his buddies in the store to get the job, but since I had already been trained and approved, I was the easiest choice because it was the holiday season.  We've butted heads a few times in the past because I don't always just go along with what he wants people to do.  I question his choices from time to time.  And I'm a little more by-the-book when it comes to dealing with customers in the store.

Sunday, I was 5 minutes late to work and I got written up for it.  He told me that if I was ever late again, he was going to fire me.  Have I been late before?  Yeah, a couple of times.  But nothing that wasn't without good reason. 

Yesterday, I got to take a look at the schedule and noticed that my hours for next week are completely different from what I'm used to working.  It's three shifts in a row, at the end of the week.  I've seen this move before, from managers getting ready to fire somebody at the beginning of the week so it's not as stressful to replace them ASAP.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I see a return to Walmart in my future...

Got into some of teh dramas with former high school friends recently.

1) Some dude I knew wanted a job where I worked.  I told him where to find jobs and he didn't like what he saw.  So he more or less asked that I create a job so he can apply.  I told him no because I have no power to do that (and even if I did, fuck this demanding douchebag).  Well, he didn't take it well and talked shit about me on Facebook.  A bunch of townie losers started piling on because none of them have shit going on in their lives except hanging out at a bar, Cheers style.  I defriended the shit talkers and got a bunch of pissy PMs asking why I defriended them.  I ignored them all and went about my business 

2) This was a couple weeks ago but I got an invitation for the 10th year high school reunion.  I RSVP'd "not attending" and sent it in.  Apparently people who I went to school with handles the invitations or found out or something because a couple girls asked my sister (who lived in town) why I wasn't going.  She was all "how the hell would I know".  Who gives a shit, over 300 people graduated in my class, just because one doesn't show up doesn't mean you need to lose your shit.  Why the fuck would they care if I went anyway?

My ten year was set for this summer, but it got moved to two weeks from now. All of those involved are so self absorbed, that I'm not even gonna make the effort to go. I don't want to hear people whine about why their lives suck so badly cause they can't afford a sports car or buy a boat or some other thing they can't afford. I only graduated with 20 other kids so it's a rather small get together, but they are having it in freaking Hawaii. At this point I just kind of feel like they neglected anyone who wasn't on the committee and spent the money we gave them for the reunion on this trip that most of us can't afford.

Growing up in a dinky little farming town, my high school grad class can be divided fairly neatly into those who never escaped the area or went to school, and those who did.  But those who did do have some pretty impressive resumes.  It has been interesting to check on those who I competed with in high school to see how they've made out.  Ironically enough, our valedictorian, a woman who was God-Tier smart, hasn't done shit with her life, just hopping from job to job, course to course, currently just working in an admin position at some community college in BC.  Such a waste of potential.

Also my HS grad class fared pretty terrible.  There was a girl who went to MIT but she dropped out in the second semester.  There was a dude who went to Northwestern and graduated but couldn't find shit so he went back home.  Everyone else either went for some jerk off major at a public university and then went right home or didn't go to school in the first place.  So to them, the HS reunion is probably important because it relives that moment when they thought the world was their oyster.
