The idea that it's "turned on" is kind of disingenuous. In most TV's "frame interpolation" is defaulted to on (with some other bullshit name too) and you have to shut that shit off. My parents were like "the fuck is this how do we get rid of it." When I got rid of it they were super thankful.

Is there a similar mode for 4K TVs which does that? A display model at the shop was showing a movie and parts of it seemed to be moving really unnaturally, while others seemed too smooth.

I remember shopping for TVs and seeing that and it almost broke my brain.

Yeah, I remember seeing that and thinking "Ewww, I don't want this TV", until I found out that it was a feature that could be turned off.

So I'm not the only one who thinks that shit makes everything looks like a soap opera! I remember when I went to my friend's house and yelled at his whole family "HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT?!" Took the remote, found out how to switch it off, and they still couldn't tell the difference. I thought I was going crazy.

This is one of the most annoying things about roommates. Granted I'm not 100% innocent, I've had someone over night/morning before. But when it's every fucking day or even 3-4 times a week that's way too much. Especially when they're in the front room kissing n shit

Do not, I repeat, do not ever make the mistake I did, of offering, "Hey, if she's going to be over all the time, she should just move in and share on rent."

She moved in, felt free to run some of my pots, and then after I told them that I'd be leaving for Japan in 6 months, they bailed after 3 months, leaving me to scramble for a 3-month residence just before leaving the country. My roomie and I were best friends prior to these shenanigans, but haven't spoken since.

No, I got that when I shat up the gift and estate tax lesson (which was trying to cater to the lowest common denominator H&R Block preparers in the class) by "accidentally" asking about irrevocable trusts during the discussion of what's included in the estate for estate tax purposes. (Grantor trusts are revocable and thus included, irrevocable trusts are not.)

IT stuff. I guess now that I don't work there anymore I can say what it was. I was an iOS Product Specialist with Apple. Basically I helped train and support their phone tech support. It was a good job, but I was ready to move up to management. However for the last few years, it seems no one above me agreed with me. Even though they kept promising the world, nothing was coming of it.

Whatever though, I've got a decade of experience and I'm still young. That makes me a good candidate for a lot of stuff.

Yeah, that was basically it. Apple is big on that kind of thing. Tons of stuff is promised and maybe 25% of it happens. But they love to push how "special" you are to even work there and hey we're gonna send you a gift basket of granola bars and some t-shirts instead of a promotion. That's cool, right?

At least my last paycheck is gonna be pretty sweet cause of all my unused vacation time.

If you think Apple fans on message boards are bad, imagine what they're like when they are collecting paychecks too.

When Jobs was still running things they were actually really good about giving tangible rewards and such for performance. Tim Cook-era really starting pushing the praise and trinkets instead of money and days off thing. I get saving money and all that, but the last thing I need is another black nerd shirt to use as a cum rag.

You can't promote being a family. Either the company/workplace has that vibe or it doesn't. When something like Apple does that it just strikes me as cultish and idiots lap it up only to give up shit they should be demanding of their execs.

I didn't work at either of the corporate offices so I don't know if it was actually like that or not. I figured they just pushed it so hard cause a lot of their tech support works from home and they want to make everyone feel less isolated as they sit in offices by themselves. You're required to interact with everyone via IM and video chats and do stuff like share pictures of your home and family and activities if you want to be noticed and receive good performance reviews.

Cult is a really good way to describe it. At least for the at-home workers. I imagine things are a bit more relaxed in the actual office settings, but the way they tried to force it for everyone else always weirded me out.

If you're still desperate enough for my services then you're going to have to pay me as a freelancer. And my hourly flat rate as a freelancer is not $10. It's $35.

I'm so done with this shit but my parents were pressuring me to stick with these two shitty jobs because, "Oh you're getting so much experience and you don't want to quit now because it'll make it look like you're not able to commit to things."
