Mine's not bad but mine's a food desert Target so it's used to higher foot traffic generally speaking. I popped in after work the other night and wasn't that put out by the wait, though I was still reading a book on my phone in line.

SPEAKING OF CHRISTMAS, barring thirsting gods (which is always a possibility with me...) I'm going fucking camping next week, all week.

Being reliably informed that I am still extremely obnoxious at a certain stage of inebriation, I'm stocking up on hooch in case I get stuck at a campsite with some fucking Norman Rockwell types that can't fuck off and spare the rest of us some lebensraum from their fucking love and togetherness bullshit.

Hope your little tykes are well adjusted parental units, because the minute I hear a Christmas carol out of you lot I'm going to go 0 to blackout ASAP and I'll be loosing a tirade of profanity, howls at the moon*, and other things that will make you all feel rather uncomfortable.

But while that's all nice, and don't get me wrong I'm stoked to take my first real vacay in a zillion years, I was feeling a certain je ne sais quoi about the whole endeavor, until today that is. I realized that Christmas is the giving season and I wasn't giving anyone anything**, so I concocted a rather petty scheme to shit all over someone's Christmas on my way out of town and afford them no recourse but leaving me straight to voice mail QQ messages I'll promptly delete when I return to civilization and turn my phone back on after a week. While it won't be my finest work by any means, or even my most vicious, I'm going to take a certain unrepeatable satisfaction from Operation Grinch.

*In all likelihood it will be performing the saxophone leitmotif from "Baker Street" instead, which again I'm reliably informed is one of my preferred fallbacks these days.

**Technically I did get someone something but I'm treating it as a birthday present for giving categorization purposes because it's for someone with a Christmas birthday.

I've been on the strangest sleep cycle over the past few weeks. Due to my abdominal issues I get pains in my back so I'm just laying in pain most days hoping to get some sleep. So it's been a few hours here and a few hours there all this time. I used to be able to just stay up and reset things properly, but I gave up after the 2nd week.

Go to a park and do pullups. Buy one of the door mounted pull up bars. Pushups are for triceps and chest.

Pull ups are the best for biceps. But go buy a couple of dumbbells if you wanna do curls. But pull ups are way better. Trust me. My biceps rock.

Its not that it uses both arms, it just flat out works the biceps more effectively. You can also do curls with both arms but its just a pointless movement.

Pull ups are the best basic upper body exercise you can do. You can change the whole shape of your arms and torso with it.

Actually, it has no Simarilliononononsense in it because legally they can't use any of the Simarilliononononsense. It would have been much better if they could. For example, when Bilbo asks Gandalf about the other wizards, Gandalf makes up some non-Simarilliononononsens because he can't talk about the two blue wizards.

Hobbit - it's ending... huh.

in a perfect world they would have done the hobbit as two movies first, sprinkling little hints to the greater narrative and also building hype for the lotr trilogy. thankfully i'm certain once the hyper-indulgent extended versions of all three hit shelves nerds will undoubtedly cobble together a super edit of all 6 movies into one 7-8 hour long epic.

Really seems like the difference between LOTR and The Hobbit is similar to the difference between the original Star Wars and the prequels. Film making takes a back seat to essentially a CEO mentality. LOTR are definitely "big" films but they feel hand crafted in nearly every way imaginable. The props, the sets, the costumes, the endless amount of takes...the films are a labor of love with Peter Jackson's fingerprints everywhere. Whereas The Hobbit trilogy, at least from what I've read, seen in behind-the-scenes videos, etc...just seems like an abbreviated, corporate version of that. Everything is CGI, the action pieces are ridiculous, even the actors often aren't in the same room during scenes.

Really seems like King Kong was the beginning of the end for Jackson. The product of technology trumping imagination rarely turns out well. I thought King Kong had a lot of great things going for it, but ultimately it was too "big" and bloated for its own good. His career just seems...forgettable. Especially when compared to someone like Nolan - who whether you like him or not has done some interesting things instead of being bogged down by one franchise.

yeah, more than anything, i was struck by how... real everything felt in the lotr trilogy as i rewatched last week. the hobbit is full of bloom and spitshined to the nth degree and loses something, IMO.

action in Five Armies felt like a Total War spot; experience was better than the first two, but partially because my expectations were tempered. It was the best of the three though
