i've done this instead of working and i know the host is abnormally slow but it's free and i spent all of one minute finding it to host basic html files made in excel

http://benjistats.rf.gd/
mirror: https://benjistats.000webhostapp.com/

to preemptively explain what would probably be the major question: mvp rating is not a measure of who the best players are but an attempt to measure the "most valuable" player to a team, so to pick an example Magic Johnson is weighted down by the rest of the Lakers being good, Bird by McHale and Parish, Stockton by Malone and vice versa, etc. whereas Adrian Dantley surprisingly "wins" due to Utah's offense being complete garbage while he was a superstar on that end

i intend to keep updating it periodically but who cares if i don't and the host dies or whatever amirite

Really interesting season. First time in quite awhile where a number of teams have a real shot at wining the title. I mean it honestly wouldn't stun me if a team like the Celtics won it this year.

76ers
Lakers
Celtics
Clippers
Bucks
Raptors

All have a legit shot at it to me. I mean some are more reasonable than others but all those teams from a roster perspective seem like they could take it.

been watching, well listening, 1970s games on YouTube while doing my stats, Rick Barry is probably the best color guy for hard information but the Big O is hilarious at how excited he gets, Russell's funny too but a bit too mumbly that with any degradation to the audio it makes even harder to hear what he's saying, but his cackle after a dad joke is awesome

during the 1975 Finals at the Cow Palace, the Big O mistakes a clock showing the time of day for the time of game and says "wow, there's still seven minutes left!" and Brent Musburger goes "that's the time of day, O, gotta be careful with the clocks in here", then O says "either that or this game is never going to end!" :rofl

mostly been watching only playoff games as they're easy to find (typing in like "1976 nba finals" will find 1976 playoff games in the results too for example), but did find the end of the 1972 Lakers' 33 game winning streak against Kareem's Bucks too that was pretty good:

1975 Finals is pretty good despite how it looks from the outside (4-0 sweep) because the Warriors trail in almost every single game by double digits, by game four the Bullets just look befuddled and act like they know it's coming when they get up 22 and suddenly the Warriors start chipping away at the lead

will probably post more year summaries for my stats page sometime this week if anybody likes looking at those, for the 1980's and 1990's, might do 2000's too, going to redo the design a bit after seeing how they look on an actual webpage, already fixed the centering issue so the 1970s ones for example are easier to read than the earlier, also going to put a description for the stat rather than relying on the name, especially as they get added with each successive "major" stat year (1974 adds steals and blocks plus official off rebounds, 1978 adds turnovers, 1980 adds three pointers, 1997 adds play-by-play data, 2004 adds counterpart data, etc.) I also should add the ABA somewhere, I already had them but forgot to make summary webpages, I'll probably not make more than the summary pages and instead just share the whole files on Google Spreadsheets or whatever, anybody who actually cares about them more than just glancing at them when I link it can probably handle that, like Glen :lol

speaking of 1972 and Wilt, he plays game five of the Finals that year with an injured and bandaged hand that can barely grab anything to where he couldn't grip utensils to eat supposedly:

he still gets like 29 rebounds and 11 blocks

watching pels flail was kind of a drag, Lonzo and Zion didn't really show up. I mean being fair they had worse records going in than most of the other teams, but their trajectory before the season shut down was exciting and I think a lot of people expected more. oh well.

Yeah Lonzo has seemingly turned into Austin Rivers 2.0. His offense just looks like it won't come together to be the player he could have been. Unforuntate. He always seemed like a nice kid.

Zion is basically still a baby so I don't blame him for anything here.

Quote
ORLANDO—After a blazing six-win start since the NBA restarted its season, Suns guard Devin Booker explained to reporters Tuesday that the team’s succession the bubble can be attributed to the fact that Phoenix fucking sucks. “We had a rough start to the season, but the second we got out of that scorching hellhole, everyone’s morale shot through the roof and we really started to gel as a team,” said Booker, who put the blame for the team prior struggles squarely on the burden of everyday exposure to Phoenix’s art, weather, food, houses, government, parks, highways, museums, architecture, and people. “There is way more to do in the bubble than goddamn Phoenix. No more endless, identical neighborhoods and no dumbass Suns fans asking for autographs. It’s like a weight has been lifted from our shoulders and we can finally breathe free. I hope the pandemic goes on forever.” At press time, every single member of the Suns roster was asking to be traded or cut as soon as the season ended.

Phoenix wins and goes 8-0 in the bubble. Spurs 22 year streak of playoffs over even though they did pretty well in the bubble.

Grizz automatically in the play-in game with their win. Portland will be also I believe if they win which would eliminate the Suns.

As a basketball fan I want the blazers to win.

As a Lebron fan, I want the grizz to win as the lakers would have a much harder time with rip city.

I would like LeBron to win one in LA and they could use it, especially this year. I would also not mind one bit if Dame seized on what is probably his best opportunity to get a ring in Portland. I don't think either team is looking strong enough to win it all, but who knows.

Considering how they've played in the bubble I think the Suns are getting a bit shafted, hopefully they can keep momentum going for next year and be respectable again. It's been a while.

It's gotten to the point where I can't envision the Lakers winning the title anymore. They just looked terrible all bubble. Covid killed all team chemistry they had after things got locked down. They looked great right before the season shutdown. Clippers just seem unbeatable now in the west with all that depth. I hope Rockets and Thunder stay 4 & 5. That would be a super fun first round. The east still has some fun matchups also.

Yeah hopefully the suns maintain the momentum and bring forward what they did in the bubble. It would be fun to have the Suns being decent again.

Their defense sucks. The games might be decently close because offensively they are damn good but when it comes to the 4th quarter George and Paul will most likely put the lockdown on Luka and make somebody else beat them which isn't the best course.

edit: lol at George and Paul. Meant Leonard and Paul.

I like Gentry but am kind of ok with this, it never quite clicked. Gentry had some bad breaks sure, but it also always felt like he was trying to force things into a system that never really worked.

Would rather Lue over Kidd. Aside from assuming he has a good relationship with our GM, I think talent is there and it's just forming a plan around pieces we have. Lue has proven he is equipped for that, or at least has looked it. having one of the GOATs/another coach on the floor really helps with that.  :lol

Also have tons of picks next few years, good opportunity with more than likely a 5-6 year window. I can see Jrue being odd man out.  :'(

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard was unanimously voted the Most Valuable Player of the seeding games portion of the NBA's attempt to restart its season inside the NBA's bubble at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Lillard, who led all players in the bubble with an average of 37.6 points per game over the eight seeding games, carried Portland to a 6-2 record and the eighth seed in the league's first-ever play-in tournament, which the Blazers begin Saturday against the ninth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies.

Lillard, who also averaged 9.6 assists, scored 51, 61 and 42 points over Portland's final three games to carry the Blazers into the seeding games, and he clearly set himself above the field of contenders for top honors inside the bubble as a result.

He was followed in the voting by guard Devin Booker, who led the Phoenix Suns to a perfect 8-0 record inside the bubble, and Indiana Pacers forward T.J. Warren, who scored 53 points in his opening game against the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 31 points over the eight seeding games.

Suns coach Monty Williams was the near unanimous choice for the league's top coach inside the bubble, with Portland's Terry Stotts getting the lone other first-place vote.

Lillard, Booker and Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic each were unanimously named to the All-Bubble first team, while Houston Rockets guard James Harden and Warren each received 18 first-team votes to claim the other two spots.

The second team consisted of the NBA's reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard, Dallas Mavericks center Kristaps Porzingis, Brooklyn Nets guard Caris LeVert and Denver Nuggets rookie Michael Porter Jr.

The eight seeding games did not count toward the NBA's traditional season-long awards. The winners of those honors will be announced by the NBA throughout the playoffs, which officially begin Monday.

Pedja also out with the Kings, he was assistant GM. Luke Walton safe though.

From the Chicago media, seems Kenny Atkinson has the inside track on the Bulls job unless someone blows them away in interviews. They're not expected to talk to Lue/Kidd/etc. but some of the assistants around the league.

Nets are rumored to be preparing a massive offer of some kind to make to Pop almost just to see if he'll talk to them. Sean Marks does come from the Spurs system. But it seems more like Nets media fans acting like Knicks fans than actual rumor.
I like Gentry but am kind of ok with this, it never quite clicked. Gentry had some bad breaks sure, but it also always felt like he was trying to force things into a system that never really worked.

Would rather Lue over Kidd. Aside from assuming he has a good relationship with our GM
One rumor is D'Antoni, who is almost certainly leaving the Rockets unless they somehow win the title, who also has ties to Griffin, they worked together on Seven Seconds or Less. Zion in the center of a D'Antoni offense has to be intriguing to both sides.

I think Lue might imagine he's more like the missing part for a near contender. He passed on the Lakers because he couldn't be sure of their contending timeline.
