I had assumed your post had a point to make, mj.  My bad.  Won't happen again.
Posters were discussing why no conservatives were expressing outrage over the portrayals in the game. I posted those comparisons to show that it's too far detached from reality for anyone to take it seriously and get outraged about it. That was the point of that post. Instead you made bad assumptions, loaded up on strawman and mind reading fallacies, doubled down on your delusions by calling me a liar, and finally tried to insult my post as "pointless".

What you should be saying is "My bad. I won't be a presumptive, fallacious asshole to random posters again", but I highly doubt that is possible. Why don't you read this and try not to make any of those mistakes again.

anyway, i find it plays a good deal faster with the POV tweaked out but I still wish sprint was on permanently. I mean, if they want you to be just walking around being part of the scene, they should give you a way to holster your weapon.

The gameplay is really nothing exciting at all. I'm very very bored with FPS in general at this point and this is doing nothing to change that. Playing on Hard but it doesn't feel like a fun challenge. The powers feel basically identical (although the crows are great) but they run out so fast I treat them like grenades. Most of the time it's just plugging at tiny dudes in the middle distance with a rifle like in Call of Duty 1 or a zillion games in between.

As an experience, it is pretty wild though. Loved the Hall of Heroes. The art is just spectacular and should be used forever to shame weeaboos who say only Japanese devs have good art

I believe the original post was talking about the way the game parodies modern Conservatives, specially the Tea Party movement, and how they invoke the founding fathers to defend racism and homophobia. It's fairly obvious, but for reference:

read the breitbart thing - well, he's right, Infinite is not subtle. The best satire is the kind that you don't even realize is satire until its message has already infected you, not the hamhanded tubthumping going on in Bioshock. But then we have the audience to consider.

So far my opinion on the game is that it's kind of ok.

The gunplay is'nt anything great and to just shoot and go into the sights just feels kind of slow and sluggish. The controls work, but they aren't the best and would not carry any other game. If this game was judged purely on it's gameplay it would fail. The powers are cool, but really so far they are just extra attacks that don't radicly change the battlefield. Just something else to shoot, a gun that shoots lightning. The Possession one so far is the best, but it's been done. The one that lifts people I have yet to find a reason to use.

But that's fine because the actual battles vary from being kind of cool to just meh. When you are inside a building, it's really nothing great. Really kind of the most generic FPS battles ever really. When you're outside I guess it gets better because you can swing around and attack and have to defend from different levels of ground. It's cool and really the game should have almost nothing but battles with the rail system.

It's too bad the ai is just kind of whatever. They charge you most of the time and that's it. Bioshock wants to be this smart shooter, but the gameplay does nothing to help that. Your powers can't radicly change the battlefield so that fighting could almost be a puzzle. It would be really nice if the game had powers that could change the environment or more powers that could mess with the AI. But then again so far, there hasn't been any real variety in the enemies. I really think that's what Bioshock needs, it needs encounters to feel like a question/puzzle. You really should think, whats the combination of things that I need to do to get through this. I don't feel that all, it's all just spam what I got and hope for the best.

Other than that, the reason this game gets jerked off by the core is because hey it's at least trying to be smart. But we have an industry where the simple fact that this game shows both sides of the argument as not totally being great and that maybe the main character isn't so nice means this game has good storytelling. It's not a high bar.

But still, they crafted a amazingly interesting world and that's why I like video games. I like visiting places I sure can't in real life and Columbia is really cool. Yeah it's social commentary and real life refences are unsubtle, but fuck I fall victim to over praise just like the fellows at IGN. The game isn't really treating you like an idiot and it at least is talking about this stuff. It's cool and I really do take my time exploring Columbia and taking in as much as I want.

I didn't like Bioshock 1 because in the end what happen to Raptrue wasn't some great mystery and thus the plot wasn't as exciting. There is so much going on in this one that I'm far more intrigued by it's plot and I do like it when games try to be adult about crap and this game succeeds.

It's like an opera fan wanting smart operas, rather than this light romantic comedy bullshit they're sick of. OK, you can sing songs about other stuff. But it'll still be an opera, not a manifesto or a novel of ideas. There is only so much serious thought that can be crammed into an aria before it collapses. And at the end of the day, even the fan who is bitching still basically just wants to listen to a fat chick warbling.

I'm not sure why people keep saying this. The two games have nothing to do with each storywise outside of the gimmick of character visiting a dystopian universe. And if you weren't interested in playing the original in all the time its been out why would you play it now in light of its sequel? Just play the one that interests you.

The character at least early on is very naive and simple and innocent so that is probably the intent or at least the art inspiration. She does look like a disney princess and some of here movements are also cartoon like to a degree. She's like a fairy tale character.

1999 stuff: Best Vigor is Possession. It is the only vigor worth upgrading. Use it on Patriots and they'll often turn around so you can hit their rear weak point. Use it on high health enemy Flak and Rocket infantry to make them kill themselves quickly. Use it on just about anything to distract enemies while you pick them off. Next best Vigor is Crows because it is one of the only things that hinders Handymen. Shock Jockey is useful for stunning crowmen and firemen. Undertow is useful if you can knock bigger enemies off ledges or ships.

Best weapons are the hard hitting ones like Hand Cannon, Carbine, and Sniper Rifle. With +damage gear equipped you can kill regular infantry with a single Hand Cannon headshot. I only upgraded the Hand Cannon and Carbine as the sniper rifle is harder to use in closed spaces. No need to waste salts on weak infantry when you can one shot them in the head.

The best piece of gear I found was +50% damage on critical hits. Another useful gear I found was 60% chance to stun with melee. If enemies get up close start whacking them and they'll be far less likely to hit back.

Max out your health first, then your shields.

Always find someplace well guarded to hide. Almost every fight in the game can be won by camping a good corner or chokepoint and waiting patiently while peeking out when your shields are up. You can usually run away from a fight, hit up a vending machine, and come back in better shape. You can use vending machines during combat too, if you need a quick heal or ammo.

Don't be afraid of dying once or twice during some of the longer fights in the game. if you've been exploring everywhere you should have thousands of coins with little to spend them on. A few deaths over the course of the game won't put much but a dent in your total. 1999 mode is rather easy with the right strats, weapons, and gear.

ok ok this is getting too much for me.  probably the highest yield for lowest effort trolling I've ever done though, besides maybe Fresh Prince.
Figures you wouldn't learn anything from that link and instead keep looking for excuses. I was just trolling guyz, srsly! Yeah, no.

Needs 1 more gun slot. 2 isn't enough. Gun play is meh and using salt for your powers is dumb.

The game is beautiful, though. I'm up to Slate which was a weird battle amongst cardboard chinamen. It is worth the rent.

what pisses me off is that I spent the first few hours avoiding vigors because they used so much salt that it wasn't worth it.  So then I got used to not using them and now I'm getting vigors that aren't such salt hogs.

"I appreciate their attempt with 1999 mode but people are going to find ways to break it easily. You can't turn a power fantasy sandbox game into a serious, balanced, and difficult action game by restricting reloads and buffing enemy stats. Western devs have typically been miles behind in hardcore skill based gameplay. Just give it some time. People will quickly figure out the easily exploitable/broken game features and from there it's a joke, or at least not nearly as difficult."

There is nothing about this post that would warrant being personally attacked over. Just call me the prophet. ::)
