Why can't anyone make more games like this? Then maybe modern gaming wouldn't be so shitty!

Best about it was the apt name.

What are "more games like this"? I'm as down for more innovative modern ARPGs as anyone else but I can't imagine making successful games like Demon's and Dark Souls is very easy. Maybe now that Froms been relatively successful more Japanese devs will pick up the genre and do something cool with it in future, I would definitely like to see more solid handheld ARPGs over the turn based crud Japan seems to still love  :zzz

I wonder if the people who complained about the Tomb of the Giants knew about the Sunlight Maggot headgear? It's the only reason why I chose Izalith first, rather than the Catacombs. I just tried it right now, yup, pretty great, no Lanterns or Sorcery needed.

Also I managed to invade someone for the FIRST TIME EVER, thanks to the patch. Woohoo gonna enjoy this run through I think

Goddammit. I forgot to join the Gravelord covenant before killing Nito :'(

Did I miss some good loot?

Either way, I'm finally at Kiln of the Last Flame. But I'm thinking about backtracking and killing any NPC that drops anything significant. Any tips?

There isn't a lot of stuff worth going out of your way for. The merchant in the undead burge (I think) drops the Uchigatana, and Shiva of the East (outside the forest covenant) and his ninja bodyguard drop some nice loot (sword, shield, and ninja ring).  There are also a few black phantom NPC invaders who drop some unique weapons and armor (one of them has a giant hat like the one you get from the 3-3 monk in Demon's Souls), and if you plan on collecting every item, it's probably best to farm them before going into NG+ (especially the channeler's trident). Other than that, just make sure you collect all of the titanite slabs you can, since there are only 1 or 2 of them in each cycle. And get as many Fire Keeper souls as you can, so you can max out your Estus ASAP in NG+.

And you can farm all of the Black Knight weapons in Kiln. The Great Axe is amazing if you have high strength.

I had the trident in my inventory without even realizing it, so I never had to go back and farm. 8)

I love using it in PvP though. After you kill someone with your main weapon, switch to trident and hit R2. Troll dance :bow

And no loot besides Gwyn's soul right?

Either way I'm glad I have uploaded the save file to the online storage before the fight, I'll download it later and get the superior ending + trophy.

Haha, ENJOY THE JANKINESS!

There are ways to skip a good chunk of it if you don't care about items and equipment laying there.

My only advise if you decide to go through the normal route is to equip the Spider Shield and pack some extra Blooming Purple Moss Clump to treat the Toxic status ailment.

Blighttown wasn't as bad once I realized that it was just the blowdart fucks that poisoned you and they don't respawn. I would go on suicide runs just to kill them.

Plus there's a lot of soul item pickups there as well.

Plus the Eagle Shield! go find the Eagle Shield.

Just started my new character, played solid for a good 6 hours. Patch is great, already played with multi more than my entire first playthrough. Used the master key to go down to blighttown and get some green titanite and made a divine+5 claymore. At level 27 it's pretty OP. Going to try and stop levelling at 30 for the majority of the game and focus on equipment, seems nice and easy invading and co-oping at this level. Are their any standout light armors post patch? My fat cleric looks pretty hilarious in the Thiefs armor.

I'm trying to decide whether to start a new character or go straight to NG+.

NG+ obviously has the benefit of the higher difficulty and keeping all my equipment, but on the other hand, my character is broken lol.

Edit: Online is difficult at this level as well... so yeah, new character it is.

I found if Solaire isnt popping up, use Quit Game in the start menu, then reload. Sometimes his sign will disappear when you attempt to summon someone else (and when you put down your own sign), and it may not re-appear. Reloading sorts this out.

also, the spear has dogshit stats iirc

I was reading it was a decent faith weapon post patch, but with necessary base stats of 24 in both dex and str needed that's dogshit. I'm not planning on taking my str above 16 and my dex above 10 unless I decide I need a divine Zwei but the claymore seems really good. Zwei was great for big bosses but the claymore seems on par or even better for PvP and PvM since it's faster with a wide swinging moveset, def not best for a str build but the best str/faith weapon I can think of atm. Just hoping the faith scaling gets A LOT better once I get some white chunks.

i forgot the cell was even in there :lol  oh yeah, there's 8 core processor in this thing...

anyway, holy shit at the soul increase.  went from the undead ruins (?) bonfire (under the dragon) to undead parish and I have 5000 souls.  I picked up a soul puddle where I died pre-patch, which maybe had 1000 souls in it, but I think the bump affected it too.  The "free souls" you get by baiting the dragon to kill the dudes on the bridge was 300, now 500 something.  also, I got through it like nothing, but I'm not sure if the game got easier or if my old skills came back.

so, does this effectively make the game much easier than Demon's Souls?

Blighttown framerate still shitty?

I don't know. Since the forest exploit is there, this will only encourage people to earn more souls through playing rather than grinding, as far as I'm concerned.

Definitely. It's a better game now, and I still find it a lot harder than DeSo. My cleric at level 47 has been getting annihilated, I just got the lordvessel and headed straight into ToG, took me ages and all it lead me to was the orange door blocking me going into Nitos lair, forgot I had to put down the lordvessel to get access. I'm keen to do Kaathes stuff, but I don't think I'm ready to take on 4 kings again  :(

Anybody else know much about miracle synergies? I only just figured out that those circles you see when running about boost your miracles and I just joined the Princess's Guard and got that ring which boosts 'miracle synergy'. So when I go into those rings it puts circles around certain miracles I have attuned but with the ring equipped the circle doesn't go away and it seems it gives the miracle a permanent boost. No information on the wikis atm

not when my weapon of choice is a +5 hand axe (aka no range or damage.)  Don't ask why, i just love the thing.  it looks so cool on my pyro.  and my 8 shots with the pyro are unfortunately only able to kill 1 and half of the knights.  I just got to the part after a bunch of hours last night, I'll figure out the area tonight.

put on that elite knight armor and now that spot is no problem, was still rocking the pyro initial equip armor before.

also, rocked the capra demon on the first try.  I guess all the complaints about him were from people who ran in too early.  I saved the pyro guy and bought all of his spells.  Guess I gotta get some more attunement slots before taking on that butterfly and the hydra.

TBH I'll probably play this again at some point, its such a good game, and I'm keen to rock a heavy weapon STR/END build too.

decided to jump back into the game randomly today

and i defeated Sen's Fortress!

got some better armor in the process and leveled up a bunch. the Iron Golem wasn't really hard, i beat him on my second try. finding the bonfire right before and the shortcut as well definitely made it less stressful.

and thus i reached Anor Londo, and the cycle of pain begins again.
