Prepare to Die Edition

Clearly the title is referring to the PC version's expected sales numbers.

Yeah, From doesn't know how to program for PCs and they were pretty straightforward about that.

Though maybe in that case, someone else should have been the ones to port it, don't ya think?

I'm fine with the locked 30 fps, although that's still kinda dumb, but locking the resolution is just horrible.  :-\

Hopefully .ini edits can sidestep all that.

Apparently there are still frame drops in the PC version. Not as bad as console though.

Capcom's been good about making sure most of the major games get PC ports, and not screwing them up.

Japan seems to not understand PC gaming at all. I mean, it didn't ever get the big "PC vs. console" gamer discussion that happened in the west. When I first went there in '93, PC games were relegated to shelves in some ghetto area of electronics stores. They were not present in gaming stores. That's still true today.

Well, it's not really a "trap", it's just an area that you're not supposed to visit until much later. I think new players are more likely to find the path to the graveyard than the path to low level zone, so whenever someone asks for advice, I always see someone say to avoid the skeletons at the start.

I don't really think that's a spoiler, but I guess I'll be more careful.

So I picked this game up while at a LAN with my buddies. It wasn't my original intention but seeing it on his PC, it reminded me of the "good ol' times" I had playing it on 360, so I scooped it up and got back into the groove.

This game is truly amazing. Even though it's balls-achingly difficult, the way the difficulty scales up and up as you progress is devilishly brilliant, and the combat never seems to get old. On 360 I made it past the Bell Gargoyles, but this time I got the Tail Axe and the Gargoyle Halberd which I hadn't done before. I took the time to grab the Drake Sword early on again, and late last night got to the Capra Demon... Fuck that guy. Normally I can take out anyone with ample space, but being crammed into that tiny courtyard against that beefy motherfucker stopped my progress in its tracks for a good half hour.

Anyways, eventually decked his shit, went down to the Depths, fell into traps multiple times and managed to avoid being cursed by those stupid frogs, lit the bonfire down there and got the fuck out.

Time to show that big rat my dick.

with the resolution fix in place i get a grey box in the left corner of the screen and black everything else when i actually start my game. all the UI is fine and the audio is fine. i've tried changing the settings around and it doesnt seem to matter.

tried to use the full screen option in the .4 fix and the screen just flickers. wtf.

You have to turn off the in game AA and motion blur.

You can actually leave motion blur on, he just worded it poorly. The "AA" in the game only blurs the image, so when he says "turn OFF the in-game AA/blur option", he's only talking about the AA.

Yeah, hope the game sells well and they will do it next time.

DS actually has a higher Steam peak CCU (10k) count than Darksiders 2 and Sleeping Dogs (both had about 8k CCU peak at launch).  Those games had huge logos plastered on the front page of Steam when they launched (and are Steam exclusive.  DS isn't Steam exclusive so the user count isn't totally accurate).

I don't think the PC version of DS will sell a million copies or anything, but it'll push a few hundred thousand units by the end of the year (especially after the Steam holiday sale)
