Since EA cockblocked Turn 10 over the Porsche license, I'm hoping that GOG gets Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. That would be awesome.

I had the first game back a long time ago and I really enjoyed it, not sure how well it holds up today though. They're action/adventure games with polygonal characters on pre-rendered, isometric backgrounds. Lots of puzzles and some simple combat [although sneaking and disguises and such were encouraged over combat in most situations], there's quite a bit of free-roaming adventure, as well. You could also talk to people and explore various areas [including a few towns]. The first game was fairly large and fairly long, from what I remember.

Anyone else buy games on GOG not for the games themselves (lol, who has 1000 hours to play all these old classics while new games are coming out daily) but for the jpgs and pdfs of all the cool shit that game with games back in the day?  Like to preserve classic awesomeness?

I'm flipping through the Zork Anthology goodies, the classic Calender of the 12 Flatheads, and the great lore of Zork, the little maps and scribbles; this is easily worth $2.99 for me.

I didn't even know they had them. Will probably buy some more now, because I'll never play them but I love looking at that stuff.

I don't think SS2 still has a proper way to play it on modern PCs.  There was some news a white back about the dark engine source releasing but haven't followed up to see what happened as a result.  Also it might possibly have licensing issues beyond that.

SS2 and the NOLF games are what I want most on GoG.  And Codename Eagle.

It does though.  If you follow certain hacking methods you can get SS2 running.  It's just a pain in the ass so it'd be nice for gog to program that stuff in so it just runs no problem.

The reason it's not on gog is some stupid licensing issues iirc.  :(

I think even using those hacks may be a bit shaky for GoG.  A lot of the older games just run through dosbox, and the hacks to improve or fix the games have forum threads (I had to use some for blood, duke 3d, mdk, and outcast).

Are there any other prominent SE games on PC? other than FF11 and those two? I can't even think of an Enix game on PC.  The deal is mostly great for Eidos.

though as far as PC companies go, Falcom on GoG would be amazing

uh... maybe i can help, syndicate should have an intro.exe and an actual syndicate.exe
since GoG games run using dosbox, maybe they setted up dosbox so that it plays the wrong exe
tough i have no idea about what you could do to fix it in that case,as i don't know how you can change the dosbox setting of a GoG game

I want Anachronox, seems like one of the few western RPGs that would interest me.

Enix put out a ton of games for old Japanese PCs (like the MSX) but they probably wouldn't come out here.

Anachronox was awesome, but I never could beat it because of game-breaking bugs. There was one part where you had to tail some guy, and in between loading screens, if you're processor was too fast it would decide that he had already moved too far ahead and that you'd lost him and would get a Game Over.

The thing is that SE is pretty good about having all their stuff on steam, so I dunno if GoG will get exclusives from them.

shouldn't be that hard to go exclusives over steam. as noted, older thief games will be in. thief / thief gold / thief 2. hitman contracts isn't on steam. no legacy of kain series on steam. only tomb raiders on steam are anniversary remake thing, legend and underworld, none of the older games. anachronox is confirmed. muckyfoot classics urban chaos and startopia seem likely. hoping for innerloops as well, jsf and projectigi. revenant, pandemonium1, omikron maybe. believe it.

wonder who owns myth series. bungie? or eidos?

GoG is running a sale.  Members vote on which of two games they want more.  Winning game is 60% off; losing game is 40% off.

Also seems like they're slowly adding the Legacy of Kain games.  Soul Reaver 2 was added recently.  There's still Defiance and both Blood Omen games.  Blood Omen released on PSN so I don't think there's any Silicon Knights business holding it up.

They're doing pay-what-you-want with Interplay games right now. I guess the Baldur's Gate games aren't included? Maybe it's just because Interplay was only the publisher.

I wish someone would republish the Starfleet Command games. Decent space sims for their time.

Come to think of it, isn't Interplay basically two guys and a C64 anymore? I thought they imploded.

EA's probably the rights-holder on those now. I'm not sure if that would really make a difference for the purposes of a GoG sale, though.

Pretty much, yeah. They basically exist to sell licenses and the like, although if you really pray hard enough, maybe someday they'll release that Fallout MMO. :lol

Capcom on GoG :rock

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/street_fighter_alpha_2/

Capcom put out a decent number of PC ports of PS1/PS2 games.  I don't know how many are actually decent ports.

I hope Sega joins too.  I remember Virtua Cop 2 and Sonic R being pretty good on PC.  Oh, and Konami for Silent Hill 2&3.

The 15 min I played of Anachronox seemed pretty awesome. From what I've heard, the game is more of a point-and-click with RPG battles than a straight up RPG, and the battles themselves are slow... but the game is filled with imaginative ideas.
